How much does it cost to build a deck like the one in the video? in the 2023...
@neil-ko5ff Жыл бұрын
The gap is not enough stuff will sit in there and rot the deck use your carpenter pencil it’s more than just a pencil also no one uses nails anymore

So not build a deck this way. the beams are not properly supported and it will not meet code. Could fail causing injury.

If you build your deck free standing and self supporting, it is less than 200 sq feet and is not a required egress door for the home, you are not required to get a building permit or inspections and fees. Ledger boards are the stupidest way to build a deck. Pictures and wallpaper are hung. Decks need to be built from the ground up.

Lowes IS EXTREMELY stringent and careful about ANY video they post on their website. They are always very concerned about safety and local Code issues. Every project and video they post goes through very extreme legal, safety, and code requirement checks before it even considers a video they post on their site. Often times many multiple revisions are made to make sure the information they are passing on is correct, safe and accurate. The information in this video is no different. It has met all of those safety and code issues, and was approved by a panel of legal, design and construction experts.

@Musical Help The flashing is not necessary in this deck design because this is built as a freestanding deck and is not attached to the house in anyway with a ledger board fastened to the house joists. . There is about a 2" gap between the freestanding Ledger board and the side of the house, which leaves plenty of drainage as to not cause any rot. If the ledger board was attached to the house joists, then that flashing would be necessary. but not in this case, since there is plenty of drainage gap, as per local building code.
