@@NotForDowntowners so gen3 with drive by cable have maf and gen4 drive by wire have map?? Isnt it obligatory for me to have map to run a turbo on my 99 lq4?
@NotForDowntowners4 жыл бұрын
Both have MAP and MAF. Map is on the back of the intake manifold. Lots of people delete maf and run speed density tunes. Make sure your map is secured properly, boost can pop them out of the manifold sometimes and then bye bye motor.

@@NotForDowntowners i plan to twin turbo a 6.0 and want response would you recommend anything under twin gt3582?? For 700hp?
@NotForDowntowners4 жыл бұрын
Good gt35’s will give you room to grow past 700, even dual gt3076’s would probably get you 700.

What would be the smallest most responsive turbo for a 6.0 lq4?? I am not going to the strip only drifting so I would appriciate what turbo u think is suitable
@NotForDowntowners4 жыл бұрын
That's really subjective and depends on the power you want to make. You could easily drift a 240sx with a stock 6.0 and no turbo if you're playing on a smaller track, and with a camshaft and springs you could make enough power to accomplish most drifting in a light car. If you'll need a turbo then Garret has an app called Boost Advisor that will probably be more helpful. You can input specific goals you have, along with engine specs, and it will point you in the right direction for turbos.

what are you doing for tuning? Can you drive it at low boost levels without a tune?
@NotForDowntowners2 жыл бұрын
Hptuners on factory pcm’s works fine. I’m friends with a local tuner that tunes all of my cars. This particular motor ended up getting holley terminator x

Do you guys remember what car the piping kit was supposed to be for? Building a turbo LS fc atm and thats a missing piece of my puzzle.

@@NotForDowntowners thanks for the quick reply. Any bottom end work done?
@NotForDowntowners3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your power goals but with our goal of around 600-700whp stock bottom end is stout enough. My boosted ls1 Vette made 622whp on a 100% stock bottom end.

@NotForDowntowners3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Great to hear, I hope your project goes smoothly. Our goal is around 700whp. I previously had a BONE STOCK ls1 with a supercharger that did 622whp and I’d like to beat that number. I think you could go for a bit more than we are with relative safety but it all comes down to management/tune. What HP are you after?

whats the main advantage of a lq9 over an ls1?

In my opinion, none other than the small displacement gain. I’d chose the aluminum motor over an iron motor anytime I was given the opportunity.

@@NotForDowntowners on which side ? I’m doing a very similar set up thanks to you guys 🙏
@NotForDowntowners3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure what ya mean by which side so I hope this answers it. We are just going to cut a hole in the hot side of the turbo and weld a v band onto it for our wastegate to sit. I guess we will cut the hole wherever it will fit best but I’m assuming it’ll be cleaner on the side towards the motor.
