Richard, is there a power to displacement ratio when you should replace the rods and pistons? Or should you do it at a certain compression? I understand the junkyard motors with boost make good power but how reliable is that combo?
@Cowboy.underwater4 жыл бұрын
There is no power/displacement ratio for rods and pistons. more compression is always better, but you will start running into detonation issues eventually as you increase compression/boost/cylinder temperature.
@cwigington144 жыл бұрын
Colton Robinson, thanks. Can a good tune prevent detonation?
@Cowboy.underwater4 жыл бұрын
@@cwigington14 Yeah, the better you can control your ignition timing and air/fuel ratios, the higher compression you are able to get away with for a given fuel octane. That's one of the reasons that modern computer controlled production motors can get away with higher compression ratios than their older counterparts.

@austindoud2734 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it does make a difference big na cams have a lot of overlap and what you end up doing with boost is pushing air through the cyl that's why typically boost cams have a wider lsa and with as little overlap as possible it still works all boost is is atmosphere 15 psi is +1 atmosphere so roughly double the hp
