PNW SANFORD thanks for the support. There’s a lot more then meets the eye with an ls swap. I’ll be posting more updates on this car next week and over the next few months as things progress :).

The speedmaster long tube headers off eBay fit remarkably well in this scenario, super cost effective too...

I think I have the GTO oil pan and it looks like the same pan... I ended up using big block mount towers which are a little taller and it seems to work. it's still tight though.

Where do you source parts for a car like this. For example the fender the bumper the headlights and if the parts are expensive is there a way around it? 🤔
@JakesShop3 жыл бұрын
good welding and fab skill will get you around buying parts. Most aftermarket parts are available from normal catalog part suppliers, jegs and Summit. On the cheap find wrecked camaros, Corvettes and GTO's in wrecking yards.

but Camaros of this vintage there are a million types of parts suppliers. "google"

@@JakesShop you could have someone fabricate a fender. I didn’t even know that. Could they even fabricate a hood 🤔

How did you make all the accessories fit on the stock subframe I noticed my alternator will hit idk if I should notch the subframe or if there’s a spacer someone makes for the belt accessories

I'm using 4th gen camaro manifolds on my 68 camaro, just have to cut off the huge manifold 3 bolt flange and weld a smaller one on. Other than that they work great. I have a video on my channel if anyone wants to check it out.

Hey Jake, anyway you can give the part number on the engine mounts? I want to order the mounts but want to make sure I get the right ones. Thanks for the video!
@JakesShop5 жыл бұрын
MegaZorock These are the same ones I used from what I can tell. From Jegs. Now it looks like they are by trans adaptor. Part number 969-4592 They are cheap but worked for me. Be sure to read the reviews on jegs site to make sure they will work for you.

Hi Jake, You mentioned a stage 2 cam in this build are you talking about the Elgin E-1840-P Sloppy Mechanics Stage 2 Grind LS Camshaft? Seems like everybody makes a stage 2 cam. Thanks

I installed a Brian Tooley Racing stage 2 cam. There is an older completely separate video on installing it on the channel.

What stand alone hardness should I get if I’m running a th350? I have a 6.0 ls from a 2003 truck. Also can you send the link for the engine mounts
@JakesShop3 жыл бұрын
the engine mounts i used for my project I do not remember the model of. There are a ton of options out there that will work. I tried two sets before i liked the ones i got. Engine harnesses i would modify my stock harness or go with a painless wiring harness if your using the stock intake/fueling setup.

@@JakesShop I want to LS swap my 1980 camaro for better fuel economy should I go with the LS3 LS7 or LS1
@JakesShop3 жыл бұрын
@@evanb3024 Any of those are doable. Or even a smaller 5.3ls from an early 2000 truck or suv and a change of the intake. it all depends on how much power out of the box you want and how much money you want to spend. The 5.3 ls cheapest if all your after is fuel economy. And they have more power then the old 305 and 350 V8's of the 80's and have a bonus of saving weight. The ls1 makes more power and is a little cheaper then the LS3 or LS7. The LS3 and LS7 are bigger and more powerful out of the box but much more money. You can easily throw a cam in a good 5.3 LS and make plenty of power for a fast Camaro.
