My son was born in 1997, so it was Nick Jr. and the Disney channel all day everyday, so it's nostalgia for me and I'm sure for my sons, I had another baby in 2000. I recorded many hours of Nick Jr shows with commercials and everything, I miss my kids being little, sometimes when I play those tapes to reminisce my wonderful times with them, I cry in silence.

My parents both had “crack of dawn” jobs, so they usually had me up and around with them. Once we got Dish network in ~2003/2004, I was extremely engrossed in watching these shows while my parents got ready for the day. I distinctly remember my watching order preference went as follows: - Nick Jr. (If Blues Clues was on, my parents did not expect me to be willing to change channels) - Ready Set Learn! (Personal favorites included Hi-5 and the Save-Ems!) - PBS Kids - Playhouse Disney (caveat: Bear in the Big Blue House I would drop everything to watch, provided Blues Clues wasn’t on)

Speaking of Children's Television lost media, I have been looking for something that I can't seem to find anywhere. Its called 'Secrets of the Cryptkeeper's Haunted House', it aired on Saturday Morning on CBS in late 96 (Sept 96-Dec 96). It only lasted for one season & won a daytime Emmy I believe. You can pull up information on it, in somewhat decent detail so its not like people don't remember, its just not available to view outside of a few clips and an episode or two on KZbin. I've done some searching myself but it mostly just goes ignored. No episodes or DVDs seem to be available purchase either and I don't see any mention of VHS collections being sold. Would be awesome if someone could find this missing classic game show I used to love, the few times I got to see it.

I don't know why kid's shows have always been the most popular form of lost media. I think early on, the term was just being used like a catch all label for online content talking about theories and true stores of banned or unaired cartoons. I remember thinking, this is indeed very interesting, but why is the term "lost media" only being used for these specific situations of lost media? Later you and similar channels started talking about lost media in general, which is great
@ExtremeWreck2 жыл бұрын
Nostalgia for these shows more likely explains it, alongside the fact that the anime scene wasn't well known for lost media hunting at the time as they mainly focused on fansubs & waiting for the next anime or dub to come out. Video games in particular were the most popular form of lost media before even kids' shows became a popular form of lost media.

It was Christmas related due to it being December but what I remembered, it was a puppet show with reindeer puppets singing songs and stuff. In the beginning of the special is a Christmas tree with lights and a fireplace in the background, which cuts to the puppets. This is possibly the only information that I know from my memory. I'm sure someone else has already commented on this, and you probably already know, but the wicked witch sesame street episode has been found, after it was leaked online! a very exciting find that i was really excited to watch unfold. the episode itself is actually very charming, but I can understand why some small children would react the way they did. i too was very afraid of the wicked witch lol. overall, not a bad episode, i really enjoyed it.

12:35 As soon as you said Little-Einsteins my mind instantly remembered the “we’re going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship” meme from way back when vine still existed. 😂😂😅 Man those where the good old days. Anyone else remember what I’m talking about?

hearing of that oswald dub being lost made me wanna dive in myself to save up and try to get my hands on those dvd sets as i was quite young when oswald was originally airing in the US but i loved the show to death and id do anything to help find lost content surrounding the show

I was researching about the Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest that happened in 2010 but the entire footage of the fest is nowhere to be found even though it was heavily advertised back then. I believe someone still have it recorded somewhere but that don't seem to be the case

Vimeo is like a god for children's media lore. There always happens to be master footage or prototype render stuff on there and it's so perplexing. One thing in particular I found cool was a 16:9 master version of a Nick Jr. Piper O'Possum promo.

For Caillou's voice actors, do you think its possible they were using fake names in the credits? I know it was common practice for video game vo's back in the day but not sure if it ever applied to tv shows

So I'm going to bring this up because I've been trying to put together when the Oswald commercial would've been and I distinctly remember being nearly a teenager while my younger sister still watched Nick Jr. and this commercial occurring. She also LOVED Oswald. So perhaps broadening the search up to about 2005 might help? Not to mention I know nick at night sometimes ran ads for children's television since some of the people watching it had grandkids or kids. I dug through some nick at night materials (circa 2002) and didn't find it then but perhaps others will have more luck if they see this. Happy hunting.

I could swear there's something familiar about that "Oswald/Osbourne" thing. Also, I assume the "alternate dubs" are more interesting to the people who speak whatever language the shows were dubbed in :-P And I do actually remember that "Stanley" show occasionally, when I think about a time when "logging onto the internet" was still a concept as opposed to computers and phones pretty much always being online (there were a couple of episodes where Stanley asked his parents or older brother to log onto the net with him)
