Credits jaxcheese, music - jaxcheese.bandcamp.com/ Art School Life, animation - kzbin.info Brobeck, capture card - kzbin.info Chuggaaconroy, narrations - kzbin.info History This project was originally started in 2015 as part of my Hoaxtacular series which covered rumors and hoaxes about games. The series ended up being canceled before I could make it to the Animal Crossing episode, so I purposed the script a couple years later. It ended up seeing many revisions and stayed that way for a while, until I had the idea to give it some life by asking Chuggaaconrory if he would be interested in doing some narrations. He was into the idea so a few months later we got the recording done in late 2018. Shortly after, my apartment flooded and left me without the equipment to continue working on the video for most of last year. Finally with New Horizons right around the corner, I made it a priority to finish the video before the game came out as a sort of celebration of how far the franchise has come. I'm really happy with the final result and the addition of Chuggaa really made the video shine. I hope you enjoy!

Great video, and it's doing pretty well too. See, I told you making videos on obscure or forgottern things is more interesting than "lost media" and it is because they do exist or happened, most people just don't know about it or don't know where to find them. Lost media has become the new Creepypastas: lame, cliche'd, full of BS and everybody comes up with one every second. Keep up the good work and that animated intro was most unexpected, indeed. Kudos! (I wish I could put ROMS on my cards, I wonder if you could use one of those Japan-only SD adapters, it does work with Doubutsu no Mori e+, albeit for other stuff).

Two things to note about the NES games that weren't mentioned in the video. First, there were in fact two official Animal Crossing web pages by Nintendo (one for the US and one for the UK) and each had the code generator for the NES games Donkey Kong JR, Donkey Kong 3, Clu Clu Land D and Soccer. Why is this important? The NES game Punch-Out!! was only made available via code generator on the UK website, never the US website. Luckily, the codes generated worked in all regions, so US players could also use the UK website to get Punch-Out!! back in the day. This why Punch-Out!! sometimes gets lumped into the forbidden NES game category while the other four games don't. Few people in the US knew that it was in fact the UK website only that was giving it out. Second, from I've read over the years in several Animal Crossing forums is that the forbidden NES game Super Mario Bros. did in fact get an official release method by Nintendo, but only in Japan. Basically the legit method offered by Nintendo in Japan was through a magazine offer/contest and it worked in a similar manner to how one would get Mew or Celebi in Pokemon via the legit method through Nintendo. If you won the magazine contest/offer you would be given instructions on how to mail you memory card to Nintendo. Several weeks later via mail you would get the memory card back from Nintendo with Super Mario Bros. attached as a gift (similar to the free gift that came on the memory card that was included with a new copy of Animal Crossing).

Thank you for having me! I learned so much when reading over the script for this video. It actually ended a rumor for me! I had a friend in elementary school who was a huge liar, very full of himself, and tried convincing everybody he was a self-made multi millionaire. In fourth grade. Until at least eighth grade when I fell out of contact. One day, he told me he saw a whale in Animal Crossing and, by that point, I'd learned to just nod along with his words but not take them seriously. I couldn't believe he was actually telling the truth when I read about it and went to go look it up! It makes me wonder if he was truthful about anything else I ignored.

I think what makes this game so magical is the feeling that you never really have a complete understanding of what could happen. Just when you think you know how everything in the game works, a villager paints your roof against your will. They do aerobics and sports, there’s a well gnome, nothing feels rigid or scripted because there’s so much stuff that only shows up once and you’re left thinking what else is out there that you haven’t seen.

@Rooby Roo depends on the neighbors. I have two that constantly fight. And one that always gets mad when I talk to her even once. The villagers seem much more interesting now. Though anything is better then NL dialogue that was bland and literally the same lines daily. NH villagers even get uppity or mad if you talk to them to much at a time or in a day. I think a huge or big issue nobody seems to really about is that the new games after GQ were very seemingly bright and cheery. Three original was darker colors and more visibly moody, like you're lost deep in a forest and trapped in the darkness from all the trees blocking out the sun. The moodyness gave way to feeling like anything could happen good or bad and had a more mystical air about it. The games after all seemed like "Look at all the cute happy animals,, let's be friends" Where the original is more like ".. Dear journal, my neighbor was carrying an axe today. I'm buying a new locking door first thing in the morning"

I swear, the GameCube Animal Crossing was ahead of its time! Though the graphics show age, it's still a highly playable game! So, there's one thing about the actual disc that many may not know about... Once the game has loaded to the title screen, you can actually *remove the disc* and it'll function perfectly fine. This is due to the fact that it's an N64 game port, and it's actually small enough to run on the GameCube's RAM without having to reference the disc. I discovered that accidentally, as I took poor care of my game discs as a young child... Games would often misread, so imagine my surprise when the machine obviously gave up reading the disc, but the game kept running! I hope you enjoyed that little tid-bit.

I was so addicted to this game. I had all four characters fully paid off/upgraded and a massive inventory. Unfortunately my nephews were playing my Cube when one of them yanked the memory card while it was auto-saving whatever they were playing and it corrupted the card. I made a couple half-hearted attempts at starting over but it just seemed too daunting a task to get back where I was. A couple things I noticed though: -Before planting a mega-money tree, chop down a tree within the same acre. I forget the number now but there is a limit on the number of trees that can grow in one acre. -If it's raining at 1-5am, walk back and forth all along the beach and look for coelacanth shadows. They're most plentiful in this time/weather. I've caught about a dozen in a single morning, especially around 4am. Clear your inventory before going down and get an easy 100,000-150,000 bells selling all your fish when Nook's opens. -Every day, two trees in town contain items. If you're patient go acre by acre and shake every non-fruit tree in town (note: you will get stung.). Once in a while a tree will have a rare item that's typically only available during a lottery or from merchants like Crazy Redd, Sahara, etc. -If a neighbor is in a cheerful sing-songy mood, keep talking to them as long as it lasts. Once in a while they'll gift you something out of nowhere, occasionally a rare item. -And don't let kids play your Cube with the same memory card you use for your AC save data.

A few more things you might not know about ACGC: If you store your turnips on the island, or get them into the lost and found they will never spoil. You can visit the island without taking Kappn's boat by getting a snowball to push you into the ocean. You can push villagers into the river by hitting them with your net while they're on a bridge and then pushing them off. You can duplicate any item you can store in a drawer by performing a variation of the walking on tables glitch. This same glitch will also allow you to float items in the air in your house, as well as go outside the bounds of your room and place items there. You can also duplicate the bells stored in your savings account by saving travel data on a second memory card, removing the second memory card, loading the game, withdrawing bells and placing them on the ground, and then saving and quitting. Then you put the second memory card back in and load the travel data. The bells will be on the ground and your bank account will show the original balance, effectively duplicating the bells. You can also turn your face into a gyroid face by saving travel data on a second memory card and loading your file from your main card without returning home first. If you reset enough times Resetti will pretend to erase your save data, making the screen go black. If you talk to K.K. slider at just the right time Resetti will show up in the background during the credits. There is a hidden spot on the item screen that allows you to change the background pattern. Any letters saved at the post office (and the items attached to them) are not deleted when you start a new town on the same memory card. You can connect your GBA to download some of the NES games to the system's memory and play them away from your GameCube. You can then come back and sync with the cube to save progress. The GBA can also be used as a pattern maker. Patterns created this way can be saved at the Able Sister's shop. Animal Crossing is the only GameCube game released outside of Japan that is able to connect to the e-reader. The town featured on the loading screen is stored in the game's memory and can be accessed via cheating device. ACGC shares a debug mode and various lines of code with the LoZ: Ocarina of Time and is thought to have been built on the same engine. This is most likely due to the fact that the game was originally meant to be an asynchronous multiplayer RPG released on the N64 DD. That's all I got for now...

My friend claimed that if you reset your game enough times, Resetti will get so mad that he’ll throw you into the sea and you have to press A as fast as you can to escape. If you don’t escape you drown and it deletes your save file. No one believed him but no one could exactly prove otherwise 😂 he swore on it

Buzz231094 well he DOES threaten to erase your game file and he fools the player by turning the screen black. But then he says he was just kidding but he does get really mad at you. I remember I always anticipated him to do that. He finally did it and I was so scared.

The issue with NH is plainly: You no longer seem to be "just another" fish in the pond with a village revolving around you, but, like in all other more "creative" games, you control pretty much everything.

It's no longer a friend simulator. It's just a building game now. There's nothing really unique about it. All villagers feel the same and the game could go without having them. There's so many things to do it seems with endless possibilities but without any SOUL

The reason I think this title is the one that will always be the most magical is because back when this game was released on the N64, both Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of America were just throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what stuck. Not only that, but both groups threw ideas at each other and they just kept adding things and adding things until it’s GameCube release. There’s probably a decent amount of things about that game that are still unknown to this day just because of how much passion went into developing it.

I remember 3 myths from my youth. The second floor of the theater in city folk if I remember correctly, you had to play on a sunday and you needed to go in before it closed and dont leave until they close. Then buy a ticket and you would go to the second floor and get some rare emotes. This was a thing because outside the theater was a second floor and at night the lights were on. The lightsaber in city folk. This was just a mod that replaced axes with lightsabers, but I though it was some kind of super rare and hard to get item. And finally, I heard rumors about the original that if you play at 11:59, and wait by the police station, and at 12 am move to the right,a mansion haunted by ghost would appear and your character would have the shock emotion, followed by worry. Inside the mansion was just redd stealing painting and selling them off. Yeah I did not believe brutas or deathwing, but I believed this crap. I was dumb as a kid.

7:30 Or better yet. The Master Sword could be a Weed cutter! Every Weed would have a 50% chance to drop a Blue Rupee. Which would count as 500 bells The cutting radius also works like this [o=empty space] [v=Villager [x=slash] Facing North, West, South, or East: ooo ovo xxx While facing diagonally: ooo xvo xxo Also fires a beam that cuts one block and goes straight or diagonally but only works if the player isn't strung by bees Edit: you could also have it be instead the last weed in your town randomly drops a Red, Blue, or Green Rupee worth 2,000, 500, and 100 respectively. Thereby discouraging players from just not playing for long periods to get tons of Rupees all at once Also the "Get item" message would be written like Zelda's "Rupee get" message. Maybe even have a Zelda jingle play instead

Damn... I always knew there was something special about the OG game. I still have a craving for truly random and rare encounters, in every game, and I just have no words for how well this game goes about it. I missed so much, I never encountered Brutus, or went into the lighthouse, etc, but its so cool to me that I can come back here and find out all the things childhood me missed. It just seems ahead of its time.

@LSuperSonicQ4 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting to test. I assume the game handles Player mail and Villager mail separately- so even if two Roalds exist in one town it would depend on which one was picked from the address list (which separates the Player and Villager names)

THE WHALE!!! Its been so long that I had almost convinced myself that I had lied about it, talk about a different kind of nostalgia lol. I was using the AR codes to get myself to walk on the ocean and found the whale back when I was a kid. At this point I had already obtained the golden rod and mostly everything else in the game. It took a while but I got the whale to bite, and my game reset as soon my character went to pull it out of the water. My screen had the little white line that shows up like when you hit the reset button too. I hope we can find out more about this, cuz its one of the most interesting things Ive seen in any game. This game is my favorite AC game as well, hands down. There's so much charm to it, from the music, the characters, the dialogue, and the Easter eggs. I remember my friend telling me 2 of the rumors you mentioned 12 or 13 years, namely, the one about waking Nook up and the whale shadow rumor. I tried to do the Nook one, but since I have the American Animal Crossing, it didn't work, so I wrote it off. I had no idea that the Japanese version had it until now! As for the whale, I never saw it either. On another note, the existence of the universal codes still baffle me to this day. I remember thinking to myself, "Why would Nintendo put these codes in the game?" You can get the golden tools with them! And my goodness, I never knew how many random things you could get from them as well, like the Resetti theme constantly playing or getting your own Pokemon Pikachu 😂
