Watching this video a few times as I’m in the middle of taking out my LT230 to repair THAT shaft leak. Some great tips Mike thanks for all the info. Raining today surprise surprise but hopefully crack on tomorrow.

Hey mate, I have some radial play (up & down) in my front output flange. IS this normal? I see the shaft is supported on single ball bearing. Is it possible to replace this bearing with the box in situ, by removing the circlip and drawing the shaft and bearing out?

It has been known to be done - but I think there is a chance of problems when assembling

@@BritannicaRestorations is there any chance you can measure the amount of play on a known good LT230 front output? (Using a dial gauge)

i have an 04 d2 and although the diff lock actuator is fine, the fork doesn't seem to slide into place to lock the diff. is it possible to remove the front output assembly while the case is in the vehicle?

Yes you can but it is a bit tricky - I would be tempted to look at the cables and links as the lock mechanism was pretty reliable

Britannica Restorations Ltd I am able to see the shaft move through the switch hole; the lever seems to go through it’s complete stroke... it’s as if the fork isn’t lining up with the gears so that it might slide into place by spring tension. Anyway I can check this on the vehicle? I do have lo hi range. Is it possible to remove the actuator and cable and move the fork through the access hole?

Keeping your silicone sealant in the refrigerator (not the freezer), will make it last a real long time, saves wasting it if you don't use it a lot. Your wife may object but hey...
