I've been playing and returning to H3 every time since the game was released back in 1999 until now. This game stands the test of time, and not even the sequels came close to it. Currently playing HotA 1.7.0 and having a blast with it

This game was by far the game that I spent most hours playing and I absolutely loved it, back when I played it 20+ years ago. I've been struck by the nostalgia bug lately so i'll definitely be going back to it to play it now with all the mods and expansions.

Played countless hours on this game back in the late 90s. Very fondly remembered this game and passed all the campaigns and scenarios. Last weekend found the game and re-installed it on a Friday evening. The next thing I know I was up until 5am playing the first 2 campaigns and lost my whole weekend. Uninstalled it right away so not tempted to lose more hours engaged to the game. Maybe later this year while on vacation while try this mod.

You forgot to mention few things to mention about Legacy of the Silence: 1. Its dont have new war machines for now because of the bug that make game crashes, developer promised to fix it 2. Its crashes kinda a lot 3. You forget also mention about TUM compability (third upgrade mod) which is works for only vannila towns for now

I am especially wondering about the complete overhaul mods. The combo possibilities seem wondrous but I am skeptical that all can be used at the same time. How do you get the gog version to work? I downloaded it, installed it but it won’t start. The icon shows for a couple of seconds then it disappears. Nothing works. I would love to play with all mods, I do not like the steam version :(

Do not buy the Steam version. Buy Heroes 3 Complete from GOG then get the HD mod I mention in the beginning. Then you can apply any of these mods on top. - Tom

as someone who played most of these mods i can tell that a lot of them is made really poorly (more or less but still), like legacy of the silence which has the most terrible ui and creatures textures i've ever seen + a lot of unnecessary stuff like changed textures of experience or character stats, and have bugs that are screaming to you to not play like vcmi where ai is mostly broken and have no idea what to do

Hota is really bad is such a dumb take. It's easy to mod and keeps the game essentially the same while adding a bit of extra content. The newest town is literally based off concepts from the original design team that never made it into the game, and cove fits perfectly into the homm world. I've tried WoG and it's so convoluted with all the extra crap they've added that I had no interest in learning it or any of the other mods on the ERA3 platform. You're smokin sometin dude.

HOMM complete is completely unbalanced! the elemental race is massively overpowered. Shadows of death is the best release unless there is a mod to balance Complete.

" "6. What version of HoMM III is required to install HotA? We strongly recommend installing the official version of the expansion over Russian or English Shadow of Death. HotA also works correctly when installed over the Complete edition. We cannot guarantee the correct performance of HotA when installed over any kind of repack, where some of the original files, deemed unnecessary by the compiler, might be missing. HotA will not install over Restoration of Erathia, Armageddon’s Blade or any fan-made mods, including WoG." I cannot find anything on rebalancing of the Conflux.

@@noanyobiseniss7462 Conflux got rather balanced than nerfed to be honest (still op tho): - The default 4 Firebirds/Phoenixes growth with just a Castle been changed to 2 - To get 3 of them, Conflux got a new Vault of Ashes horde building which increases their growth per week by 1 - Furthermore the dwelling and unit cost has been increased, so Conflux is more expensive this way Hota Crew is really conservative with their changes, so whatever they plan to take from the game, will immediately give back to you if you are willing to strive for it a bit more.

@@Tibor0803 Thx for the info, yeah Conflux still way OP, it was just massive from the start and so bad we had to ban it in our group. We started off letting peoples kids use it to be competitive but even they became unbeatable in no time. Conflux literally has advantages in every single aspect of the game with zero weaknesses.
