Also because the chemical chemistry is LTO its the safest compound out there right now they don't blow up and don't catch fire unless maybe a dead short but for the cell it self it's fantastic

Something interesting and worth noting is that the reason alternators don't work well at low rpm is also the frequency of the ac being lower than optimum. The inductive reactance becomes lossier at these low rpms. Higher is probably better until mechanicals don't cope well or the internal capacitances take over. There are also obviously points of diminishing returns as well. In terms of charge current think about it this way. You have two voltages connected to each other with a pair of resistors in series that represent the battery's internal resistances and the charger or load's resistance. The current should be approximately the internal and wiring resistances divided by one voltage minus the other. As those voltages get closer to each other aka the batter charhes the current should go down as in this video.

I run LiFePO4 with supercap . charging is similar but different voltage. same effect of pulling current up to final charge then drops very low. no out gassing . under normal charge/discharge. LTO battery's have around 20,000 cycle life at 80% DOD. around 2,000 cycle life for LFP and lead around 180 cycle life at 80 % DOD . some AGM better. Thank you for the alternator charging at idle. 73's

Hey howsit , I noticed you have played with 35ah and 45ah cells before, you mentioned the 35ah has a higher discharge rate ? Would this mean they have a lower internal resistance or are the resistance the same. And would pairing 45 ah cells in parallel with 35ah or 40ah cells prove problematic due to this .

I never thought that a lithium battery can go on a car, how long can this battery stay charged? I have a car in another country, and I go there one time a year, and every time I buy a new battery because after 11 months the battery is dead, If I install one of these will it hold the charge? Thanks
@jakejacob981410 ай бұрын
Disconnect the battery when you leave, vehicles inevitably have a constant power draw. Think clocks possibly memory ect . They are small mostly unnoticed when used regularly enough. Simply removing the negative battery cable will keep it from draining lead acid or lto ( to an extent)

and what you think about 16.8V LTO 6S dedicated charger?
@justforlaughs89882 жыл бұрын
You want to charge minimum on a 6s configuration 14.8v cause nominal voltage is 13.8v and I wouldn't recommend charging below 14.8v you'll see 60/65% of capacity because each cell is 2.8v max voltage which in 6s 16.8v
@GTILOUD2 жыл бұрын
There the range is listed at 2.3v-2.7v so 13.8v--16.2v is the range in a 6s configuration
@justforlaughs89882 жыл бұрын
@Drago 710 you don't want to charge below 14.8 cause at nominal voltage 13.8v you don't have hardly any capacity and will see poor performance also yinglong says the 35ah cells have a max charge of 2.9v I can show you the spec sheet if you would like
@GTILOUD2 жыл бұрын
@@justforlaughs8988 you were right I've since seen that yinlong rates their b cells up to 2.8v max so you were correct not sure why xs rates them at 2.7v? Maybe to be a little on safe side 🤔 I'm really very excitedly interested in getting 6 of the xs 45ah cells and making a battery for my suv.

I’m thinking of just using 5 of these cells instead of 6 since my car doesn’t go beyond 14volts. Like someone mentioned before 6s would only be getting to around 60% charge at that voltage so to work around my charging level I’m just going to remove a few cels from the equation I think it should work A ok

@justforlaughs89882 жыл бұрын
2.8v is max charge per cell so 16.8v would be the very most you don't want to charge under 14.8 in a 6s configuration

The alternator will continue to draw. There is no way around it. Your incorrect. Its common for half of a 160amp alt capacity to be eaten up by the truck just the operating normally. Leaving only 80 amps available to replenish the lithium bank. Or it can just overheat the alternator. Cease the fan belt and melt and break it.. Soo many things to consider and plan/worry about.

So I understand where you're coming from some of the versions of lithium batteries do explode and they're very dangerous and they require a lot of maintenance. The lto batteries that you're looking at in this video are not those. If you overcharge them they do not explode. If you puncture them they do not explode. If you damage them in any way they do not explode. And as far as I'm concerned those Optima batteries can be taking over and thrown in the trash have exactly 1/16 the storage capability and 1/16 the outrush capability. Lead-acid is dead in all of its forms. Please feel free to review any of the other battery videos that I put up documenting all of the facts stated above.
