It absolutely worked for my Car. 2007 Saturn Outlook. Had the power steering pump replaced 3 years ago. Power steering rack started making whiny noise this past winter. It would start after about 5 minutes of driving. I suctioned out the power steering pump and put half a bottle of this in, turned the wheels about 12 times. Drove it the next day and no noise! GM wanted to charge me over a thousand dollars to replace the rack but this 9.99 bottle made all the difference. The car's 12 years old. I don't want to put that much more money into it. It's a good car and I've had minimal problems with it and the engine is still going strong

Great Video, and I have this really bad whining or howling sound coming from my power steering pump or rack ? After watching a couple videos like yours, it seems that everyone said this stuff works, so I gave it a shot. I got the same thing as you, and in about 10 minutes, about 85 % of the noise was gone, and I was surprised. Now I'll have to wait and see if it will stop the "leak" that caused my low fluid level, and steering noise in the first place. I'll have to drive the car over the next 10-14 days and check fluid levels. If the leak stops, and some guys say it will, I'll be very happy, so I'm hoping for the best. Of the Videos I've watched about 75 % say it works very well, and no question, the noise will go away. Great product.

I read many comments down below about how Lucas turned their small leaks into huge leaks. Instead, what you absolutely should consider using is a product called AT-2 reseal. It has the viscosity of water but reconditions the rubber seals in power steering systems without harming them.

@americaninsectco7 ай бұрын
This stuff doesn’t stop the noise because it doesn’t remove air from the system. Bleed the power steering system and/or remove trapped air BEFORE buying this. If the noise doesn’t go away, then it’s the pump that needs to be replaced. If the noise DOES go away, then drain the pump reserves some and refill it with this. Again, this doesn’t neutralize air. It just stops a leak.

Things I’ve had work: K seal is number 1 and works better than Blue Devil for a radiator leak. Number 2 Lucas oil stop leak worked great to stop an oil leak both of these were added 1 year and a half ago and I’m still driving the car with no more leaking and no problems. The only product that didn’t work for me was the Lucas oil power steering stop leak. I believe this didn’t work mostly because the leak or hole was just too big for the product to bond properly. These are my experiences. The reason for K seal over Blue devil for the radiator was well, the most important reason K seal completely stoped my radiator leak where blue devil only stopped it for about 2 weeks and I found blue devil turns into like a vasoline type gel and doesn’t ever harden where K seal has aluminum in it and turns hard and seals the problem.

In Minnesota here - just used Lucas and STP (both mineral oil) - so it does swell up the seals - and the leak has stopped. But the pump is whining from the thickness. So I just used the transfer pump to take out - and put in about 12 ounces of normal power steering fluid. So I'll then do that a couple more times to get rid of the mineral oil so I don't have to replace the pump... I had close to completely all mineral oil in there.

BlueDevil can make things worse because as a synthetic chemical it swells the seals by dissolving the chemical bonds - it's a solvent. Lucas is Mineral Oil - so it swells the rubber but does not deteriorate the Tensile Strength of the seals at all. With the synthetic chemicals - the tensile strength is reduced to only about 20% or less of what it previously was.

@FixingWithPassion6 жыл бұрын
Dude, it was making noise. It solved the noise issue. Its not a magic in a bottle but it helps sometime.
@nickv40736 жыл бұрын
I'm aware. Ask any mechanic. The #1 cause of noise in a power steering system is simply dirty fluid. 1st course of action should have been a drain and fill with new fluid. Putting any "stop leak" additive in your oil, coolant system or power steering system can cause more problems. New fluid is all you needed.
@FixingWithPassion6 жыл бұрын
Then why did the noise go away? I did not remove any dirty fluid? Just added new oil it. So...That statement is not true (at least partially). I've replaced noisy PS assembles because of faulty bearings that make noise. Its not always clearly a smoking gun case everytime (sometimes dirty oil). Then again the noise could have been a "combo" of a few things.
@nickv40736 жыл бұрын
Power Steering fluid itself has lubrication properties that wear out over time. New power steering fluid would have solved the lack of lubrication causing the noise. What you did was add the Lucas which also has lubrication properties and solved the noise issue. The bad part is using Lucas, you also added "stop leak" addiitives that could swell up seals, clog up the vanes in your power steering pump or the screen filter in the bottom of your reservoir tank over time. Bottom line, if you have no leaks, it doesn't make sense to use anything with "stop leak" additives.
