Oh my god. I had the most severe flashbacks when you said, “Don’t worry Shane, we’re saving you.” Because when I was super little, I LOVED having new barbies to make up weird stories with, as I was a little weirdo with ADHD and next to zero friends and living in my own little fantasy world where I wanted to make up stories all the time. So when I got new dolls, I’d try to make it part of whatever ongoing story I was inventing, and pretend that the other dolls were “rescuing” the doll in the box, so that opening the plastic could be a fun game too. I vividly remember a time when my parents overheard me say to a new boxed doll, in my little doll narrative, “Don’t worry, we’ll get you out of there!” I was an embarrassing child. Thanks for those memories.

Demi is the victim of childhood bullying where she was bullied from a very young age about her looks including her weight... understandably this led to an eating disorder and self harm (and when you’re suffering from an eating disorder and constantly working like when she was on Disney and starting out in her music career, you need something to give you energy aside from food bc you don’t have food energy- so the obvious answer is an upper (drugs))... vs Miley’s had a cushy life with her dad being famous and wealthy (in fact he’s the one who got her the Hannah Montana gig- he was first cast as the dad and originally Hannah was going to be in high school, not jr high- but billy convinced them to let her audition and to give her the part....)... also who says Miley never went to rehab? I assume she had some type of intervention as she no long is so crazy on the drugs... she’s also been divorced for a while now- so long in fact he’s moved on and has a new gf who has already met his family- and in one of her new releases she basically claims her ex wanted her to be who she was at 17 (when they met- before her crazy heavy drug use phase)... and they weren’t together 10 years straight- they were very off and on (and I would say more off than on... probably like 3-4 years together total over the 10 years).... I think Miley is expected to be above the traumas the other Disney girls experience bc she has had such an easy life and basically everything handed to her... does she work hard? Yes, is she talented? Definitely... but would she be anywhere if it weren’t for her dad? Probably not... plus aside from online trolls I doubt she was ever bullied... I’m a fan of all 3 girls and none of them are perfect.., Miley is just more out there than the others and went from squeaky clean Disney to crazy party/sexy girl- which is why I think she got all the backlash vs gradually going into sexy/crazy party girl like the others did
