One or two extra notes I probably should've added in the video is the irony of using Musashi here. Back then, due to the lack of true forms and units in general, F30 would be 'balanced' after you get Musashi in Walk of Fame, SoL37. But nowadays, due to new units and easier farming and whatnot, reaching F30 is doable significantly faster and even getting Musashi might be just a little bit 'too late' into the progression for F30. It's kind of a funky weird thing with how updates and progressions are, which is even why I kind of considered Li'l Mohawk to be a bit further in progression despite Mina being obtainable much earlier than Musashi. Real strange stuff.

22:20 Decided to rewatch the video, and... you know what I have to say about Octopus Cat's range. In the past I probably would've made fun of it, but thinking now Octopus having 130 or 140 range doesn't really affect how the unit functions, does it? The only significant enemy I can think of with 130~140 range is Bore, and that's obviously irrelevant in the context of Octo since Bore would shred Octo, and he doesn't even produce waves so what's the point just CC the mad lad to death. Octopus Cat is a tanker-esque unit who is meant to get outranged by basically every wave-producing enemy since the way he survives is by his HP (and his anti-Floating abilities).

I think that what keeps F30 the most creep-proof is actually how strong the identity of the stage is. Where you can't really "break" the stage because even the strongest options obtainable early like Slime and Dancer which do make the stage quite a breeze don't interrupt the standard gameplay loop, but rather allow you to play it easier while still feeling like you are playing F30. Compared to how F40 got popularized with the identity of being a MMohawk and MKD stack stage, or a Baha chain stage, you now spam chip units and anti-traitless CC to the point where the stage just looks incredibly different from how it was on launch. The same can be said for how other stages in the game fold to Cyber/Deadeye, or other trait counters that make you play the stage differently than you did on release. Although difficulty is part of the picture, F30 being easy with new options still keeps the original identity of the stage, and its why this one and No Plan A seem to have been crept the least, even if they are much much easier: They still feel the same.

It seems like word of mouth was the way to go when it first came out. That's how I started back in 2015? My friend showed me, played it FOR him a lot mind you, and then a year later I started playing on my phone. 100% the longest lasting game I've played on mobile and I loved clash Royale for years till I gave up in 2022 with PTW features beyond this world. This game barely does that for beginners even. Very basic game with continuity and easy to learn style and sick music (and barely any ads unless you look for them). My 24 yr old self puts this at 8.5 or 9/10. Only once you treasure farm does it feel annoying but even then you need the xp anyways.

I am glad battle cats has never really been pay to win like other mobile games. Every hard level is one which requires planning and executing your plans somewhat perfectly (before power creep, but its still fun to redo those stages with the older units). (except that one with the big ass zombie and metal for green shell)

I played Floor 30 for the first time at around early-midgame myself, and I have to say, it was indeed a challenge at that point still in spite of the fact I did this only a couple years ago. I played with very low powercreep, only having Pizza and Fishman, if I recall correctly, as well as using Shadow Akira over Musashi. I don't remember the exact lineup I used, but I do know it was basically the classic strategy. I remember making multiple attempts and being in a cold sweat the first time I beat Hermit. So, yeah, even though back then people were saying the floor was dead, not really. It's just changed from an endgame challenge to a early-midgame one.

I think idi:re definitely deserves a shout out, fun level that has a pretty simple strategy on paper but in execution needs good timing with some peons that can mess you up if not prepared. f30, idi invasion, roo and other similar stages are rlly fun bc they allow you to express your own playstyle. that’s one of the most important things for a boss fight to do, especially in a strategy game. Socrates and mechabun are bad because there is only one strategy and the difficulty is unbalanced. Also i love how hermit, idi and luza are all super high hp threats who can’t push on their own and do deadly damage but their whole stage revolves around peons who make them much more dangerous

My favorite stage is definitely Land of Dreams lvl 20 (the Messier Baron). Especially back then when one of the best counters for that stage was Ken from the SF collab. It made me so happy when I finally beat it for the first time. However, like Floor 30, it just gets easier with the more units you have available to you (and it is a collab so reruns are rare)

Floor 30 is at such a great place as well because most players won't have a lot of Ubers yet, so those three rare tickets are really tempting. You end up seeing a lot of personalized load outs that you wouldn't use for any other stage in the game. My load out was Cool Japan, Manic Mohawk, Power Cutter, Akuma Lion, Gravi (first form), Awakened Bahamut, and Mitama the Oracle. I used rich cat and sniper cat power ups and beat it after over twenty attempts. Never have I had more fun with a mobile game. This is the stage that convinced me to look up a guide and introduced me to the Battle cats comunity. Overtime I learned to improve thanks to battle cats creators like Lucas IV. Floor 30 is without a doubt my favorite stage and it felt great to come back every 3-5 months when heavenly tower returned to see how much easier it got.

I think EVA-00 was my first collab unit, around the time the first collab, and I remember how baffled I was replaying Floor 30 with him. His presence genuinely felt like hitting the "Waves On/Off" button, and I abused him as often as possible back then even if his kit stunk for the type of threats on the wave stage I took it to. Hes one of favorite units, just made that strong of an impression on me.

It's extraordinarily difficult to make a good boss stage where the boss is the main deadly pushing threat, rather than the ever-looming backliner support which does an occasional omni/LD nuke -such as the great demon lord- whilst the peons do the main pushing (usually with one particular peon being somewhat tougher than the others and the main threat of the stage), but when it's done well holy damn it is absolute peak.

I love to see more analyses on some of the other superbosses of the game - Battle Cats has a surprising amount of really good bosses. Even the ones that fall flat can have neat ideas such as Bakoo being a foe you must interrupt as much as possible to prevent it landing a devastating attack or Aku Cyclone being a cyclone but with the twist that it can't be crowd-controlled. (and then we have stuff like lil nyandam which has the lenoirs be more prominent than lil ny himself, urs being... urs... and don't get me started on the travesty that is soractes. but again, these sort of bosses are the exception rather than the rule)

Hermit is not the main pushing threat though, you can stall him with literally just Mohawk. I think the only bosses that are the main pushing threat are the cyclones and Socrates, and we know Socrates’ stage sucks

I suppose what I thought of in my head was that it's cool to see bosses which deviate from the standard "el big heavy nuker" formula, then I somehow misinterpreted myself and thought I meant "bosses which are the main threat", of which there is... Bun Bun? I guess? Granted, there is a reason why "el big heavy nuker" is a common formula - it just works really damn well, quite a few of the best bosses in the game uses this formula. But it's interesting to experiment outside the box or give deviations/twists to that formula? Maybe that's why I have this weird liking of pre-Courier Wanwan - he is one of the "el big heavy nuker" bosses, but his unique gimmick forces you to approach the stage in an interesting and unique way. Hey Lucas, Its been a while. We were in a BC discord server about 7 years ago, and I wanted to say that you're still killing it. I had been playing battle cats since about a month after release, and I only quit about 2 years ago. Sometimes I still go through UL and SoL and relive a lot of the memories I have from back in the day. In regards to floor 30, this video completely summed it up perfectly. I remember the hours and hours of raging because I couldn't beat levels like river styx or floor 30 and asking for advice in the voice channels. I havent consumed much battle cats content in the last few years, but this video brought me back and really resonated with me in a way I have never experienced. I think battle cats was the first real community I was ever a part of, and I am extremely grateful for all of the time I got to spend with my online friends, as I was going through a rough patch back then. I remember back when i first completed floor 30 as it wasn't really the "Bait n bash" tactic of stalling hermit at the base with a wave immune unit to act as the main damage but rather a fierce game of tug of war where i tried to go for a perma-stun trick with Vendor and Healor Cat CC, but could never get it to properly work with the peons coming in and ruining the perfect timing. So it just turned into a fierce tug of war where i pushed Hermit back to his base and try to fend off the peons with Courier and Pizza with Octo being the wave blocker and a few others until the perma-stun was broken and Hermit would march his way back to the base. I tried doing the "Bait n Bash" along with throwing every single wave immune unit but could never get it to work as the "tug of war" method got me the win. It truly did feel like i earned Hermit cat as a Unit that day. ...and then 1st tried floor 40 due to that same lineup being absurdly good and me getting absurdly lucky with the win.

This is probably my 2nd favourite level in the game. I love the level of strategy required for this level and I love how versatile and complex it can get. But I think HT 50 is slightly better than this. Uril was such a delicate fight for me as any mistake was basically a loss. I also love how the background looks like Kami’s Lookout from Dragon Ball and the song playing is reminiscent to Chala Head Chala from Dragon Ball Z. And it being the last level of HT adds onto it as I found HT to be the best challenge in the whole game

Unless you use like some all wave immune lineup that can fight hermit a mile away from base I believe you can never not have fun with this stage, the fact that when i was replaying ht last time when it came around for rewards with dasli and darktanyan at lvl 60 and I still enjoyed it is frankly amazing, I genuinely believe even if a new player has dasli this is one of like 5 stages that they still 1. Get to play, and 2. Have fun doing so (as long as theyre still timing mmohawk or smth and not just spamming wave immune)

The Filibuster and Meta Filibuster stages are kinda easy once u get the proper units, but for me, were fun stages. The music helps to be very inmersive, the suspense about no letting the attack being completed are so fun. Those stages with the IDI and Jagando, needs to be replayable.

I remember when this stage came out and my best wave immune attackers were shishilan and musashi, what a good feeling it was to finally beat this stage. I'm so happy I didnt get shadow gao until way later LOL. It was a feeling compounderd knowing my brother pulled EVA-00 so he never had an issue with the stage.

Ahh, I remember this. Back in my day, I used shishilan pasalan. You know, he was widely considered the best nekoluga and one of the best nukers back then! Now you children have your „king of doom phono‘s“ and „Gaia the creator‘s“. I was just equipped with a shishilan and manic Mohawk and like 2 combo‘s. Ah yes, those were the days… But seriously though, this stage is actually amazing, and it holding up even through the immense powercreep that the wave meta experience is so cool to see. I think one stage that i would consider to be similar in terms of fun and strategy and feeling of achievement would be prelude to ruin. It‘s an amazing introduction to UL, as it goes away from the spammy SoL meta, and uses the more reserved and strategic gamedesign of UL, while also keeping the enemies to stuff that is familiar, and giving a really useful unit as a reward.

I recently got to this stage and even with all the new units that can help, it was very difficult learning the timing and what units to use, and just the complete different way you have to play the game, instead of just basically saving until you get your best unit, you have to slowly let the boss reach your base and make sure you time your meatshields perfectly or else they'll reach your base and kill all of your wave immune units. It was fun but also so stressful. Very well structured stage and I hope they have more unique and creative stages like this

I think floor 30 was certrainly one of the most hyper acomplishments for me, most of the advent stages were also some of my favorite levels when they first came out, silly enough one of my absolute most satisfying clears was the floating island level in into the future- quite a simple and easy level once you understand the game, but at the time it took me every ounce of strategy and research and days of preparation and attempts to finally overcome it really I think the joy of a stage comes from something challenging that you feel you can accomplish, anything too hard where you need specific units and theres no lineup variation looses its charm because theres no personal expression in how you beat it, as well as anything so laughably easy (like how relic uril can just be completely destroyed with idi and the uril you get from normal heavenly tower) one other factor for stage design is what you unlock/what rewards there are. if a stage gives you a unit that you dont like and has very limited use its hard to feel invested in winning, if the stage gives something like rare tickets, new unique units that pique your interest, dark catseyes- those things make a stage more enticing also one thing I believe dampened my hype for beating uncanny legends was having to farm behemoth stones for weeks to get the true forms, it removes the instant feeling of meaningful accomplishment something like beating into the future and getting true form would bahamut would give

I beat floor 30 before I finished ITF chapter 2. Then again, to be fair, I had Shishilan, and I didn't actually understand that much about the game back then, this was still before I got too much into the community(Surprisingly, ch 3 moon isn't what got me into the community, but that's a diferent discussion), and so I didn't really know what treasures were or think that they were that important, and I found the legend stages more fun anyway, so I just didn't play ITF all that much until I figured out that treasures actually mattered and figured it was finally time to true form Bahamut.

I remember my first proper run against this stage, Diabolic Gao was my wave-immune attacker of choice. Having an Epicfest Uber like him would trivialize the stage, right? Not exactly. If I failed to defend SGao, Hermit would get the chance to shred his HP. However, the momentary freezes gave me additional time/opportunities to get a defensive unit in there. I initially tried Li'l Lion, but swapped to Manic since the additional speed provided MUCH more value than the wave immunity. Sure, the fight may've been a bit easier with SGao, but it was by no means a free fight, and honestly it was a ton of fun for that.

I have 3 stared sol completed half of uL have all treasures in everything from eoc to cotc and i have done all of the deadly advent and im pretty sure the highest i got on heavenly tower was 15 because every time it comes out i just overlooked it and now that ive been wanting to play it i just have to wait for ponos to decide to add it

I feel like Multiversal Studios on release was a pretty great experience. It had that same sort of back and forth tension that f30 had, where you'd often find yourself being pushed really hard by the peon waves but also being able to regain ground due the Musashi's high kb count. The stage was also very money tight, so you had to really consider what the best use of your resources were. It was also a really good introduction for the doge base, since it wiping the field if you pushed up too far would be especially brutal due to the lack of money. IMO it was the peak of endurance based stages, since there was a clear win condition in outlasting the zang roo/zir zeal waves, and most of the struggle was in managing your resources well enough to reach that point.

I found that even if you have diabolical gao, you still have to play carefully as pushing to much means gao is going to take heavy damage, and if gao dies then you are going to have to stall for a LONG time to get him back on the field. My first time beating floor 30 I mainly used wonder momoco since she is wave resistant, even though she freezes blacks, reds, and angels, I still had to play carefully due to hermit pushing to close. Floor 50 in my opinion is also a good stage, not peak but pretty good as due to uril having over 100% uptime on surges and surges being vastly different in nature, the strat is kind of the opposite as now you need to keep uril at a safe distance and defend your CC units from the peons that SHRED meat shields(I'm looking at you sir rel).

Floor 30 for a mid-game player is truly a pinnacle stage. Despite me having regular Gao and Eyewaltz tf (including Musashi) I still struggled a few times. The moment Hermit died, it was the most satisfying thing I experienced in this game. Defeating this stage is the very definition of the phrase "LET'S F*CKING GOOOOO!!" and there's very few stages that can replicate that feeling.

floor 50 ht and jagando's aku mountai were EXHILARATING for me i don't exactly remember what i used for floor 50 but i just know my main dmg was lufalan so just trying to keep lufalan alive while actually landing hits on uril was rly satisfying it was more ragey than satisfying but yeah for jagando my shield piercer was just aku researcher it was like at the time akus released so no true form or other shield piercers and man jagando was such a headachhee i didn't have any surge immune units and i just gunned him down with lufalan and aphrodie probably someone else too but i forgot other than that, filibuster's stage is rlllyy fun i think it's the most balanced boss stage in this game been a long time time ago since i first cleared itf 3 moon too but that was a blast just getting a.bahamut felt rly satisfying that being said i quit the game for a bit but came back on a new account like 3 months ago i wanna say? and i beat cotc 3 moon just now my "proof" would be the latest video i uploaded on my channel XD but yeah coming back i am surprised courier is this easily accessible he just denies a lot of enemies in general and is just a rly powerful unit sol is still a bit boring :/ i rly wish they'd revamp it in some way sry for the long comment but thanks for reading if u made it this far

My old job was getting rid of a few Inspirons back in 2020. They were 3847MT, had i5, 4440. I replaced the PSU with a budget 650 or 700 watt, and added a 1060 6 gb. I sold 2 and gave one to my dad as a budget gaming machine. I miss the days when prebuilts had normal parts and you were able to swap parts as needed.

Now that I’ve played floor 30 myself…I agree. This is the most skill based stage I’ve played, and it doesn’t feel “unfair” when you lose. I used both Akira and Musashi to make the stage easier, but it still felt like I was playing the stage (also Gloomy Neneko carries, being a ranged wave blocker meaning if you have enough good timing, she can live for a long time)

another alternative attack up (sm) combo is brave cutter, wasting only 1 slot!!1 as brave cutter is a great counter to ginger snake and its also like a 2nd maglev, but if u dont have that then use tiny ancient hunt (lil dragon and jiangshi) as lildragon is good overall (jiangshi isnt really viable here tho), lil king dragon can do 7000 damage so it will help u chip hermit tho i dont recommend sending it every time its avalable as its high cost of 1500 will drain ur money but if u have alot of money then sure send it, also i HIGHLY recommend macho crystal cat (as mentioned in the video) cuz it will knockback and slow hermit, acting as a backup to when hermit hits your base.

The stages that comes to my mind are the bottom if the swamp with kappy jr. with the same reasoning of floor 30 bc you souldn't have many surge immune units to power creep the stage this early on, and the brutal advent stages due to them being late game and needning pretty specific untis (with usualy high investment) to trivialise.

Ponos cooked for this stage. To keep Hermit from your base, you have to use timing and critical thinking, something that ZL doesn't have, you have to stay on your toes to adjust for the random enemy layout, something UL doesn't have, and there's a big freeflow, customizable element, allowing you to stray from the basic formula in your strategy to do it in your own unique way, something that SOL doesn't have; The lack of a difinitive answer lets you do whatever you want to try, making it the most replayable stage in the whole game. You need to put so much precision both into your lineup and your skill, that the pristine quality feels unreal compared to any of the stages surrounding it. This stage is a masterpiece and overcame powercreep very well for an early stage in the game's development by Hermit having the combat ability to fend off against newer units and instead turns newer units into extra abilities to hold him back with a sort of tradeoff or weakness, based on the unit at play. This stage manages to powerfully highlight both the flaws of powerful units and the strengths of weaker units. It serves a great point of tension, as it is so well layered, you expect it to be the finale, but it's just a minor stepping stone for the even tougher trail ahead. It's so climactic and full of tension, that this stage feels like it does everything it wants to do, unlike any COTC final boss, if you can even call those bosses actual challenge. Not to mention, it doesn't require overleveling or insane grinding, which is forced for MERCILESS Advents. Unlike stages that are extremely blunt with their time limits by using assassin bear, this stage instead slowly and steadily increases the peon spawn rate to incentivize going quickly, yet still allowing the player to survive when the enemy spawn rates tick up, rather than cutting off your run instantly when the game feels like it, making the experience much smoother than any timed levels, yet containing a form of time constraint. All of the stage elements moving together in their own unique and precious way gathered the whole community together to work this out. This stage is every good quality of level design rolled together into a singular battle. Heavenly Tower F. 30 is actually cinema at its finest. Best level, no contest.

Jagando and Zero Luza are my favorite stages in the whole game. I kind of relate to the feeling of serotonin you mentioned after winning because for both I was severely under prepared so every little thing that happened was a cheek clincher XD. Unfortunately. This stage feels like a really good progress check. To beat this no gacha (or little gacha) you need musashi, maglev and manic island, requiring you to go through the manic stages and beat the hardest one, go through most of sol and go through some deadly advents.

I feel like a newer example of a stage like floor 30 is revival of origin, when i played it, it was such a difficult endurance stage because i did uberless and having to be carefull about the sir rel waves and bore jr.s made the stage so fun to deal with and ive gone back to replay it many times.
