If only she hadn't stuck so stubbornly with her TV persona even after it no longer suited her. By age 60 she was way too old to still be making stupid mistakes and getting yelled at by Gale Gordon. When she finally started trying different things, post-"Here's Lucy," it was too late.

@@amyreynolds3619 However after they divorced she starred in and produced The Lucy Show (Desi left after 1 year) and in a few years she bought in out of Desilu Studios. So she did it all!

I love Lucy😍 What an amazing actress,and one of the funniest people to ever live! Also,a great beauty, Lucy and Desi made a good looking pair. It's so sad that even though they loved each other,never stopped loving each other,they couldn't make their marriage work. Anyway,R.i.p Lucy and Desi thank you for the laughter!👍😍

Go figure, these were two people who really did love each other, yet they couldn't live together. It's a situation that is such a paradox, and one that is difficult to process. Lucy goes on to marry Gary Moreton with whom she did find peace and contentment. However, it was Dezi who was the love her life. When lucy died, within a couple of years after Dezi,..... Gary said,...... "Lucy is happy now, she is with Dezi". What a revealing comment that was.

After they divorced and Lucy married Gary Morton and Desi married Edie Hersch (sp?) Desi continued to send Lucy flowers for at least 15 years on their anniversary. Don't know what their spouses thought of that - they also talked on the phone - almost every week - either about their children or about projects that Lucy was currently working on.

@@LJ-ht4zs I didn't know all that. Thank you so much for the information. I was delighted to hear it, but I must say it didn't Suprise me. Those two people in spite of their problems really loved each other right up till the day they died. It was just so sad that they could not have remained together though. I'm betting they are together now though. Again, thank you for your reply.

She was amazing in "The Fuller Brush Girl" (1950). I usually don't get into classic movie's/tv much (although over the past couple years I went from always hating Westerns to them being some of my favorite shows now 🤷‍♂️), but I came across this movie when I was really sick & didn't feel like getting up to get the remote 😂 I definitely recommend it for anyone who loved Lucy, no pun intended.

@@basketballexpert4584borderline personality disorder is an intense disorder characterized by a tendency toward black and white thinking, difficult interpersonal relationships amongst other things. I have a similar background and I also developed bpd. Therapy is crucial for recovery.

Alcoholism is a relationship killer. It's sad when love has to end because of it. They alcohol shows a person's true colors. She was so beautiful. And so talented. 🕊️🙏❤️

I've always hated that phrase. Alcohol NEVER shows "someone's true colors," it DESTROYS them! Blacking out, etc..you don't even know what you're doing, it destroys you. It's a LITERAL poison.

The Communism scandal did not “almost end the show before it began” nor did the scandal happen while “filming the inaugural” episode of ILL. The Inaugural episode was filmed in August 1951. It was the inaugural episode of season 3. 👍🏻

The cheating is inexcusable. Alcoholism plagues many and is something that could have been fixed/managed. Few things in life you shouldn’t get second chances for, cheating is one of them.

Desi didn’t come from poverty. In the 1930s, his family were high society, sugar growers in the eastern part of Cuba. In 1933 that was sort a Civil War in Cuba and his family was run out of the country.

I loved Lucille Ball in about 15 motion pictures she was in; I also loved The Lucy Show, and liked Here's Lucy. ILL was A+ The Lucy Show a B+ and Here's Lucy a B-. Lucille Ball continued on for years - on tv and in movies. Desi had problems with addictions before their marriage, during and afterwards. His 2nd wife almost divorced him for the same reasons. Also Desi was jealous of Lucy - when she was costarring with Henry Fonda in The Big Street, Desi kept showing up on the set all the time. Finally he was barred from the set. I feel sad for Lucy and Desi as well as for his 2nd wife. All were harmed with Desi's addictions.

It should be noted that their son Desi Arnaz Jr. was not actually featured in the show, but was instead played by another boy named Keith Thibodeaux. This video doesn't quite explain that well so that could be misleading.

On The Lucie Show she did a skit was George Burns funny skit ending with a song and dance number she looked beautiful and she was 55 and Burns 70. What a great number.

He gamboled a lot and Lucy was frugal; no problem here, they kept separate accounts for their money. Lucy died with more than 2x more than Desi.

I'm too young to have grown up watching I Love Lucy (have no interest now) but I had heard that she was accused of being a Communist. But I always assumed it was because she had married a Cuban native - had no idea it had to do with her grandparents.
