What a rare talent to have … each song had emotion tied to it, whether it was heartbreak, despair, anger, rebellion, sadness, or joy. Waylon had a way of adding emotion to a song and that is why, when people take the time to listen to his catalog of songs they get a fuller picture of who Waylon was as a man … because “he wrote what he lived, and he sang what he wrote”.

Wow...an emotional rush came over me. The beauty of this music coupled with the abuse I got from my dad as a youngster. Getting smacked around while trying to help with chores. The backdrop of my youth was country music with my dad and Sabbath, AC/DC and Led Zep with my friends. I love this era of country music, but this listen snapped me back to a point where I remember the country was not doing so great in the mid-late 70's. People out of work, my dad angry as a troll and my dumb ass there to be a punching bag. Alcoholism is hell...to be a young child of a violent alcoholic sucks. I am glad I was able to spare my kids and give them a proper upbringing to be normal and well adjusted an not know what it is to be hurt by your parent. This music makes me remember those days...I have fond memories and strangely paralleled extreme sadness. To me...this song is "Mammas don't let your babies grow up to be abusers". Weeping while I listen to this.
