If you haven’t figured it out already, when Gyarados attacks, it will either remove 1 random energy from either your side or your opponents side. Not both. Even if it takes 1 away from Gyarados, u can just re-add it.

the ability on regular Gyarados is better, but they may have nerfed it on ex gyarados because it does more damage and it has more hp

The gyarados ex ability seems to be more effective when the opponent has multiple pokemon with energies. That increases the chances that an energy will take from the opponent if you only have 1 pokemon with energies on it.

I have no idea how it works sometime it delete energy but sometime not.

yes it's random. sometimes it deletes an energy of our pokemon, sometimes an energy of the opponent's pokemon

It deletes only 1 energy at random selecting only 1 pokemon from all pokemon playing, including you and the oponent, so sometimes will discard 1 energy from one of yours pokemon or 1 from the rival, its not hard to notice

Additionally, sometimes it’ll delete energy from the Pokémon you just knocked out which feels like a scam.

I’ve been running the deck with druddigon to stall and be able to chip mewtwo and get him in range of gyarados. I find it has made my opening hands much more consistent as I only have 4 basic pokemon.

Drudigon has been useful as a stall in my new pigeot ex deck with a khangaskhan as well. Leafs ability to reduce retreat by 2 makes them so much more viable to stall with

I thinks Gyarados can counter Celebi because he has more damage than the point life of Celebi and he can also remove a energy to Celebi unfortunately it’s random so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I use a single chatot in my version for hand replacement to rush misty ASAP as long as you get a Vaporeon it doesnt matter who you put the energy on as long as u get it on the field

yes it picks a random Pokémon with energy. I think, If only our Gyarados has energy, it hits Gyarados instead.
