That might have been me. Articuno is a great way to get a quick 2-3 game streak. You miss Misty, you concede and try again. Switched to Weezing/Arbok for the next 2. Got lucky in my fifth game when they low rolled Marowak.

Same here, with Charcanine did have some incredibly frustrating matches but I was able to complete the event within 20 games. I was constantly getting stuck at 3 wins couple of times.

My first 5 games of the event went this way: First 3 were relatively easy clears, 4th one was an absolute struggle of a match but ended up winning miraculously with 2 Mewtwo EX at 10 hp on my bench, 5th game I'm about to win next turn when my opponent pulls out Zapdos and rolls 3 heads for 150 damage 😂

Yeah they're really taking their time. Hoping they allow you to add energy on turn 1 but still not allow attack. They also need to add something like clans or teams so we can request cards and trade more and get clan rewards. BALANCE MISTY. A turn 2 win is crazy and game breaking. But I'm no developer.😂😂

I'm wondering if the event might get easier over time? The longer it goes on, the players with the better decks/skill are more likely to get their 5-win streaks and stop playing, shifting the player pool towards players with worse decks/skill. I imagine upfront it might get a little bit harder, as player who don't care about the emblem just play casually until they have their 15 wins for the Sparkledust and stop playing, but by the end of the event it should be down to just players who weren't able to get their 5-win streaks earlier (or weren't confident in their ability to do so).

@@daniaaal Those people with meta decks might not be "trying to ruin other people's days," I've hit 4 wins twice and then lost. When I hit 3 wins, I shift over to Pikachu EX to try to close it out and get it over with. Sure there might be some people doing it but immediately associating meta decks with people "ruining your day" is a mindset that naturally demoralizes you and only stirs negative thoughts.

Same thing happened to me! Lost game 1 to a Charizard deck because Moltres got way too many heads. Then went on to sweep 7 games in a row to claim nearly every reward, except the 10 and 15 battles rewards. Did those in random match ups.

5 games, 5 wins with Basic Articuno + Wigglytuff EX. I wholeheartedly believe if you are struggling with this event either A) you dont have the cards to make a rogue competitive deck. B) dont have the cards for a meta deck C) are bad at the game.

You're still getting hourglass for participating, and if you're not winning then you're only missing out on the emblem, which is just one out of the many thats to come. Wow, i got it done within the first hour of the event. Here's a tip: use a fighting deck. Electric type are week to fighting, and alot of the fighting types have great hp, and the machomp line of mons isnt week to physic type as well. Very good deck if you use marrowak an Machamp only. 2 marrowaks an 2 machamp sets of mons is all i use, an all i need. An i win. Lots. Edit: Woops I ment marrowak isn't week to physic lol 😅 I got the 2 mixed up. 😅 Point 👉 still stands though. With the both of them together it's not hard to outplay physic decks. Marrowak ex more than often gets double heads on flips. At the very least he gets one 75 percent of the time ⏲️. Mewtwo ex only has150 health, Marrowak ex hits for 160.. And while your using marrowak ex, oh an btw he only requires 2 energy. Mewtwo requires 4. Anywho while your using Marrowak ex, you can then build up machamp ex an or another marrowak ex. Machamp hits for 120 an has 180 health. So, even with mewtwos biggest attack if he is alive when you switch to machamp ex for example, he can't one shot machamp ex. Unless they Giovanni. It's woth the that small risk imo. Between the easier time to build up back up cards, an being able to get heavy hitters online fast, it's just the better deck. Not to mention, If your going up against a grass deck, which marrowak is week against, you can just play off machamp ex an regular machamp, who aren't week to grass. An there's the fact that cubone lowers any actives pokemons attack by 20 the following turn. Meetwo ex decks are good, I have one, but machamp, an marrowak ex deck is better, overall. Their just easier to get going then Mewtwo is. Plain an simple, an they offer more defense an weakness counters flexibility.

@HorrowLight I have a black deck as well. An a ex mewtwo deck. An a killer ex eegutar, butterfree deck. Got alot of the good meta decks currently honestly. In my experience the best ones are fighting, casue I see lots less grass decks being played versus the other current meta types. An grass is fighting weakness so. Water decks with misty are very good. Pretty much guarantees wins atleast half of your games. The most underrated, overlooked currently op deck is: double arodactul double Persian deck. With a starmie set to go with it for quick retreats. An fast hard hitting damage an decent max hp. Between the aerodsctuls putting your actives back in your decks, the Persians removing any remaining energy you have on the board, an starmies playstyle pocketing perfectly into the deck, it's really hard for opponents to do anything. Using Sabrina in the deck to help control who go's back to the deck on the field is also a good idea. If ya want. I haven't made the deck yet myself, but I played against it, an wow it's op. Imo. Different then the norm too. Think 🤔 I have the cards to makr that deck now. Gimma go check. 🚶‍♂️

I don't understand the hate for this event. The event gives you 2 free packs no matter how you do, if you want the emblem it should require some effort. I myself completed this event within the hour, lost one game and then won the 5. My issue is that I'm currently in a 10 win streak with my Charizard/Arcanine deck, so I feel bad playing as I deny people their wins, thus I dont like the mode for the opposite reason. I guess I could ff at the end but almost always my opponent concedes when they can tell Im gonna win in my turn so I dont get a chance and I want the wins for my personal stats.

Personally, I think the problem here is the fact a simple bad luck can ruin literally everything. This game relly to much on luck. From bad starting hand to meeting insanely lucky opponents with their coin tosses. Meet one of these, and your winning streak is gone. It's tolerable on previous event where you simply only need to win and no need to do it on a row. But reaching a winning streak in this game is hell. I don't think a winning streak event is a good idea for this game Also, personal thought of mine, purposely concede to help other player getting their badge is disrespectful. If I get my badge just because of 5 concede in a row, the badge has no value in it. Getting a reward out of pity is not my thing. So if people want to "help" other players, I prefer if they just use less meta deck but still play seriously or simply stop playing the event after you are done with your missions. Just let those still struggling players to fight each other. Assuming that people with meta deck already finished their task, the battle should be a bit easier for those without meta deck (as long rng doesn't F you up). I still need to do my mission so I will still get into the event and fight. But I use my troll Wigglytuff deck instead of my sweaty Charizard deck. Easier to beat, but not easy enough to disrespect my opponent. I still need to win too after all. I will stop when I was done with the mission.

Just so you know, apparently it's possible to do the mission to win matches in normal battles, so you don't need to play the event anymore (not sure about this info, just read about it) Edit: don't know about the info yet, but if you want to play the event with a troll deck, I'm not complaining ( I'm still struggling to get 5 wins, lol)

Just a PSA for people aiming to grind versus wins after completing the event: While the event missions are tied to the emblem event, you DO NOT need to play in the event to get your 50 versus wins for shinedust. You can do it in regular versus, and it might also extend to private matches. I've won games messing around with Brock after I just finished the emblem and I'm progressing towards the shinedust rewards.

Most of the people i run into have either have non meta decks or just make a lot of mistakes and play poorly. If you are struggling just use one of the meta decks or at least a close variation to them, and just take your time on your turns to make sure you aren't blundering.

In a game thats heavily RNG based and also a game where the outcome of the match is decided by what turn you get (for most decks) it seems kinda wild to have a win streak event. Ive lost so many games where i eent second, only had 1 basic pokemon, and the opponent got kucky with Misty and knocked me iut before I even got a turn. The game is fun but feels intentionally designed to be 90% luck based gameplay. So idk if a winstreak event is the healthiest thing vuz its gonna make most peopel just play "meta" decks.

I'm on 5 wins now, the final battle was pretty intense my Pokémon got put to sleep and I managed to clutch with Zapdos EX against Exeguttor EX and luckily, all my 4 coins got flipped and I managed to take it down! I am done with this event. If I ever play again I'm going to just concede because I am nice. 😂👌 By the way I used a Pikachu and Zapdos EX deck, I cooked everyone with it.

Dude what? I did the same! I ran double Machamp and 2 mewoth with 1 Persian. It was actually fantastic. The reason was Meowth gave me incredible card draw and could stall and if I drew Persian nobody EVER plays around it or expects it and it's good.

@@darkreaper7256Digglet to help you stall for set up. Depending on luck it can win the game by itself. Promo Mankey is good but can be knocked out really easily and completely relies on luck of the draw. Barring a Sabrina I have used Dugtrio to kill Charrizard exs from full health.

Also went 5-0 with Mewtwo. I recommend the variant with 1 baby Mewtwo as the 5th basic. Makes the deck a lot stronger against faster paced decks that it may struggle against like pika, early starmie, blaine, etc.

One of the things I like about the Mewtwo EX deck is that it's actually pretty balanced in regards to whether it's better to go first or second IMO. This is due to how important it is to find the necessary cards to set up the Gardevoir; having the ability to start drawing and playing cards sooner than your opponent is very good for this kind of deck. This balance and consistency is one of the reasons why I chose this deck over Pickachu EX for this event.

Meh not really. Say you get a Mewtwo and full Garde evolution line in your hand, if you go first you'll be at 0, 1 and 3 energy before you can start doing damage, meanwhile if you started second you'd be at 1, 2, 4. The extra turn can be game changing. The only decks that really benefit from starting first are decks that run stuff like Rapidash, Marrowack non-ex or arguably misty decks that can FTK with an articuno and Misty in their starting hand, for 95% of decks going second is always a massive advantage

Mewtwo deck have so terrible consistency Istg. Whenever I play the deck, my gardivoir never ever appears in time / always at the damn bottom of the deck and I always get destroyed. I couldn't even win 1 in the event. Using my charlizard deck literally more consistent. I absolutely despise my luck with my Mewtwo ex deck Istg.

Finally aftFinally after 13 hours of gameplay and tweaking decks (im not even kidding im on vacation and went crazy) and allmost 200 games i've finished this cursed rng event My final deck - 2x Moltres Ex 1x Charizzard Ex 2x Charmander 2x Charmeleon 2x Vulpix 2x Ninetales 1x Sabrina 1x Blaine 2x Professor's research 2x Poké Ball 2x Potion 1x X speed What i learned Changing Charizzard Ex for another Moltres Ex was crucial = more chance to get energy for Other pokemons Moltres good against water pokemons (no water weakness) Ninetales + Charr good against electric type Speed is better than 2x sabrina for cheap Moltres switch Btw - I recommend using Starmie Ex + Articuno Ex deck or Pikachu Ex + Zapdos Ex for the best results however i do not own them (Cards i don't own = Articune Ex, Starmie, Starmie Ex, Machamp Ex, Wigglytuff Ex, Melmetal, Primeape, Muk) Best of luck and im going to sleep finally

Surrendering to people is kinda lame. If someone gave me my 5th win when it should have been a loss, I would feel cheated (although if I am honest, a bit of relief as well). There is going to be luck involved in winning this type of event since PTCG is 10% skill/90% luck, so people should accept that fact and have fun trying to get lucky 5 times in a row.

I ran this with an incomplete PikaZap deck. 1 Pika, 2 Zap. Also 2 Zebstrika and 1 Heliolisk. Worked suprisingly well. Zebstrika is great for bonking Ralts and Froakie and somewhat counters turn 1 disadvantage if you have it in your hand at the start. 1 energy to smack anything on the field for 30 can be useful in some matchups.

I actually First Turn Won twice through luck on using Misty with Articuno. Before that I got to concessions back to back and the last match I have gotten a win by overwhelming the opponent and having them concede. Lol

The real key is to pace yourself. Pick a deck you can attack with quickly; don't have to evolve and don't need a lot of energy's(Pikachu ex) . Get your 2 or 3 streak going THEN STOP for the day. Next day win your 4th, day after that win your 5th. This is great for people who get frustrated easily and/or have jobs, kids, etc. Pace yourself

It's not that hard with a Pikachu dex. I was having a hard time with Mewtwo and Starmie/Articuno, so I tried using Pikachu and won 12 times in a row... I wouldn't have thought this deck was so strong. If some people wanna try, I used this : Blitzle x2 Zebstrika x2 Zapdos x1 Zapdos EX x2 Pikachu EX x2 Potion x2 Speed + x1 Pokeball x2 Professor's Research x2 Giovanni x2 Sabrina x2 Some advices from what I learned : - Try to attack as soon as possible, even with low dmg attacks, with a Blitzle or Zapdos EX, and then set up your Pikachu - Only use Zapdos EX's second attack as a last resort, don't use it if you have other options, it's too unpredictable - Always be prepared to switch your active pokemon if they're low HP - Never let any EX pokemon die, if you don't have a choice, sacrifice a Blitzle or the regular Zapdos - Try to place at least 2 non EX pokemon, in case the opponent uses a Sabrina, to be sure you're not forced to sacrifice an EX card - Don't forget that Zebstrika can finish off any pokemon placed on the bench of your opponent - Keep your Giovanni, only use them if you're missing 10 dmg to kill, people don't always expect you to have a Giovanni in your hand - Don't use potions too soon, only if they're mandatory to survive one more turn

I had a feeling this event could be frustrating as soon as I saw it. I had a run of losses before I even got 1 win, then as soon as I got the first win I went on to get the five in a row. The 3rd and fourth were tense but the last game we were both playing Mewtwo and I got to go second. They just conceded instantly.

It's an rng based event, unfortunately. I got my 5 wins in one sitting after failing 4 times before finally getting it on 5th run. Each fail was opponent getting very lucky and/or me having bad starting turns to the point where a come back wasn't possible. Each run I used a different deck. Ironically the deck I got it with was a modified version of the deck I used on my 2nd run. On my 2nd run I tried a Starmie EX 16 trainer deck. On the 5th run, the winning one, I used the same deck but added Farfetch to start doing damage sooner to then one shot with Starmie EX. So this is the deck I used... Staryu x2 Starmie EX x2 Farfetch x2 Potion x2 X Speed x2 Pokeball x2 Hand Scope x2 Professor's Research x2 Giovanni x2 Sabrina x2 But sgain, no deck will succeed if your luck is bad. Before my winning run, some of my fails were to good matchups that were heavily in my favor if opponent didn't have the god opening for the deck they were playing while my start wasn't great.

Yeah, it kinda sucks that these events really depend on you having a meta deck. At first I tried to do it with the Blaine deck but got stomped, and as soon as I switched to the Mewtwo deck I got the 5 wins in a row. Now I haven't played any more matchups ever since cuz I don't want to mess with anyone else's streak.

Honestly, I see no problem with this event. In most real tcg tournaments, even ones that only do single elimination for the top 8 or top 16, you would be required to win 3 or 4 straight games to get top spot, and that's usually just to win regionals. If the emblems are actually supposed to feel like rewards for good players, they shouldn't be easy to get for just anyone, or else they get devalued.

The issue I had was less the meta decks, and more the RNG coin flip decks. Every streak I lost was to a Misty turn one Articuna EX, quick Marowak EX, or something similar. I gave up, made a deck with only Articuno EX and Misty's, with some Old Ambers (Since they aren't basic pokemon) as backup. The moment things looked hairy I conceded and tried again. Got it within the hour. Now I am displaying that badge and going into battles with only a magikarp, and trying to get as much energy on it until it dies. I refuse to attack with it and just end my turn. I even use pokeballs to show my opponent I have nothing else lol

I opened with godliest hand for my first turn on my fifth win: 2 moltres exs, 2 pokeballs, and professor's research. Drew a charmander from the first draw, used pokeball for another charmander, managed to get TWO charmeleon's my second turn, charizard on the third. My first run i steamrolled a 4 game win streak, bricked on moltres with no benched fire types, and watched my opponent set up a dragonite in their backrow while I could do literally nothing. My second winstreak I tried again with pikachu, got to 4 wins, then bricked pikachu and two electrode, no voltorb, and had to sit and watch while my opponent set up a dragonite while i could do literally nothing but watch. I am literally cursed. I will try again with mewtwo, but if I see another freakin dragonite imma mald.

Sandslash pidgeot is your best bet. Works well into mewtwo and pikachu and all you really have to worry about is grass and unlucky draws

I play my Pikachu/Zapdos deck with 2 Electabuzz and 2 Lt Surge. That way if Pika and Zapdos aren't popping, I have one more way to go and it gives me energy on Electabuzz right away

People are finding the event difficult and complaining about it online. I got pretty lucky and got mine out of the way on day 2. Get you a decent deck, Pika EX variants are pretty strong, just gotta be tenacious enough to stick in there until you get your five in a row. Don't get me wrong, I did have one run end with Misty cheese and another two end with an absolutely bone headed misplay on my part. It can be frustrating. If I didn't already have my emblems I'd probably be pretty salty about it, too, but hang in there. I know some people are going back in after their emblems to help others just conceding and farming shop tickets that way, so as the event drags on, this might get easier. Just keep at it.

1 week old player here and I was literally pissed to the point of almost throwing my phone into the toilet. First: meta everywhere. M2 ex, Char ex, PikaGod. Second: sheer luck in every aspect. Played with Grass deck, got Fire opponent. Change to Water deck, got PikaGod opponent. Coin toss. Me with kangaskhan, always got only 1 or no heads. Opponent with Zap Ex, flipped 4 heads and dash 200dmg in my face like WTF. Not to mention draw luck. Turn 1 me: shit hand. Opponent: M2 Ex plus entire Gardewife family. Screw this tournassment. Screw it.

Wigglytuff with Weezing is pretty good as you get the poison off weezing is super effective against mewtwo decks and with the new jigglypuff one energy can put a mon to sleep and then Wigglytuff does 80 and also puts them to sleep

Got my first 5 wins really easily and first try using 2 froakie, 2 frogadier, 2 greninja, 2 articuno ex, 2 potion, 1 x speed, 2 professor, 2 pokeball, 1 misty, 2 giovani and 2 sabrina. I faced all water decks so id either use this deck or a electric one. Also only having 1 misty makes it so you are less likely to he screwed over by RNG and the 1 x speed instead of the second misty allows you to pivot more easily. You pretty much just want greninja to be in the back and articuno in the front at all times.

Got it done within the first day but needed to grind out like 30 games after work before it happened... and even with Playing a Meta deck (in my case Pikachu EX) there is still so much RNG involved! Start of the battle coinflip (Energy advantage? Yes/No), Pokemon Attacks Coinflips, Which type of deck/type are you facing?... list goes on! I cant even imagine how bad of a gameplay experience it must be while not playing a meta deck!

Get the baby Zapdos if you don’t have the ex. 130 damage, 3 energy, but damages benched mon. I use fossils so I can discard them after they take a hit, but usually your Pikachu has enough hp after early game to tank damage
