hey Lucy, i just want you to know i think you're a wonderful person and you do a great job teaching people. i believe that instead of gossiping about someone, a person should just go directly to that person and ask them directly instead of talking behind their back. you know? it's like the saying goes " if you have something to say, say it to their face ". Also, when it comes to comments here on KZbin, i think one thing people have to keep in mind is that: the person they are watching is equally as much of a human being with feelings as the person is who's writing the comment so, like the old saying goes: if you have nothing nice to say, then it's best to say nothing at all. i think if you're going to leave a comment, it needs to be something positive that will uplift and encourage the person who uploaded the video, as well as other people who may read that comment instead of tearing them down. i believe it takes a much bigger person to write a nice, positive comment than it does to write a mean, hateful one. not to mention, there's already enough hatred in the world, that comes all too easy. instead, we should try to reverse that downward spiral by, if we must write a comment, leaving comments that actually help people and brighten up their day. to sum things up, i would just say this: hatred requires no thought; whereas kindness takes effort so, let's put forth that effort to be kind because it's always worthwhile.

That was great. 👍 I agree that Twitter is just filled with so many hateful people. I swear people go in there just to find people to troll and fight with. Cancel culture is out of control. Like, get a hobby that doesn’t involve insulting people all the time. It costs nothing to hold your tongue and be kind.

Aww such a lovely conversation. Some great insights coming out of that. Thanks to Lucy for mentioning your channel. I subscribed it right away after listening to the podcast and I'm already excited for upcoming conversations. I don't know why but I feel proud on Lucy, I'm just feeling fulfilled after knowing how she tackled all those mixed opinions being shot towards her. I've been watching her videos for a long time and I know she had no intention of making someone feel less or inferior in any way. 8+ billion people, Trillions of thoughts; they'll think what one can't even imagine. I don't wanna comment on that controversy, if that's what you will call it. But I'm just happy that Lucy came out stronger due to it. It's my habit to watch English with Lucy everyday. The best thing that makes me feel flabbergasted every single time; is here high level of energy that she passes on to her audience. I prefer it over watching streaming platforms. 😅 Owh by the way I watched the latest season of "Line of Duty" and have no clue what happened in previous seasons. But it was quite great. Lots of accent variations from UK. I don't know where I'm taking my train of thoughts. To sum up, I just wanna say that I'm grateful to Lia for bringing this video and best of luck for your future endeavours. (Owh gosh I can't stop talking. 😅) ✌️☮️🙂

Bonjour Lia & Lucy! Thank you very much for the little chat. I have been working from home for about 25 years now (as a freelance translator from English into French) and I was especially interested in Lucy’s views about professional loneliness and having few everyday contacts. Interfering with few people in real life makes it difficult to deal with negative feedback, especially because (some) people are so brutal online, but also because people like us who work on their own tend to lose the ability to interact with peers. We have to deal with that and work on ourselves 😊. Now Lucy, I have been following you for quite a long time and I clearly remember why you were criticized and bullied last year. Well, let me put it that way: I have been following you because your English classes match the education standards I expect from a language teacher. You teach British RP and as a learner, that is what I am interested in, not because I am a racist, a snobbish person or anything, but because I think, as a learner, that modern RP/vocabulary/phraseology are what best correspond to my learning needs and can help me accommodate various situations. I live in Provence (France) and have a strong southern accent. If I had to teach my own language, I would try to convey and teach a more neutral accent. I am not ashamed about how I sound, about my roots or our (beautiful and wonderful) peculiarities, but I think learners need a “neutral” approach to be able to deal with any kind of linguistic situations and to make themselves understood. So, I did not quite understand the point of your detractors, although I understand (and appreciate!) that everyone is free to teach his/her linguistic specificities and variants. I am very keen on listening to podcasts and vlogs about accents, regions and communities, and I really think that linguistic diversity is a most valuable resource that should be maintained and fostered, because we more than ever need to stick to our roots. But I also believe that, if you address English as a foreign language learners, you should not be blamed by your peers for pointing out that some expressions or ways of speaking “are regionalisms”, “do not sound professional”, “do not sound smart”, etc. This is how we learn and this is what we need to learn. It is not about judging people and/or categorizing their intellect or origins. It is about giving us some clues about language registers. I personally never felt you were condescending nor judgmental in your classes. I hope you will stay true to yourself and that you will never become consensual. Thank you very much for the classes and the PDFs. They are always very clear and well structured. Hi Lia! Sorry for the “long conversation” with Lucy. I am happy to e-meet you. You have a new follower now 😊

I had a terrible experience with an online bully/stalker, when I had a public profile (hence my profile pic now) I feel like I can enjoy my social media experience with my new private existence. It just goes to show haters attack youtubers and the general joe bloggs too. Keep up the hard work. I enjoy both your channels and I love mmm English too another great channel with the Australian teacher.

@17.26 OMG Lucy, I did that just today again! I posted screenshots of a guy being vulgar on to his FB page. I name & shame now. Previously I simply humoured & would say 'Oh, I'm quite surprised you're not embarrassed to send that pic, it is rather on the small size 🙈". Mostly males from India that were that way inclined with me. By the way a great chat to watch ladies 💖. Even I occasionally have my fix of "English with Lucy " despite not needing English lessons! Criticism will be there...everywhere! But the point is that how to look upon them. Whether we can think positively or not in such situations! Positive Acceptance of criticism from the people can be quite valuable as well as of great help! Above all, we should concentrate on self-criticism and self-esteem (till that time of positive thinking). Everybody has to undergo one's own struggle! Eventually that makes us quite experienced and stronger in our day to day life. Quite inspirational and motivational chat between Lucy and Lia! Hope to see such chatting in near future on various aspects...and also to catch both of you very soon! Thanks a ton...with lots of love! ❤️❤️❤️

😄I just listened to this entire talk again, because you had Ach sing your "Chats" jingle at the end of your "January 2022 walk and talk". I could barely hear what he was singing at the end, so I clicked on this to hear the jingle as you sing it. Then once again I listened to, and totally enjoyed, your entire conversation! You're both so engaging and talented. You are simply a joy to listen to. It reminds me of the old expression, 'I'd pay to listen to them read the phone book*!" Enjoyed the chat and the subject matter discussed.I prefer to listen-watch podcast on YT. YT is #1 for me ...for now. I'm relatively late to YT but have logged alot of hours since retiring 2 years ago. I personally follow a diverse (racial, ethnic, age, gender, etc) group of channels with a slight U.K. 😂 bias but YT's algorithms are brutal in thier racial and age bias. It is something that I often have to consciously work against. I do think social media platforms are becoming more aware of this phenomenon. Many times you can see the same corporate, government and political bodies starting to manipulate the system and just so much trashy, damaging money grabbing click bait from individual creators. I hate that the term "cancel culture" is being used to squash real critique and accountability has much as I dislike "counter culture" itself.
