Go Visit Castles

2 жыл бұрын

Join the Go Visit Castles team as they head over to Ludlow castle, a defensive castle on the border between England and Wales. The history of the castle is explored with the castle’s resident archaeologist, Leon Bracelin, from the University of Worcester. Ludlow castle was one of the first stone castles to be built in England after the Norman conquest, and within its grounds is a remarkable Norman chapel, with links to the Knights Templars...

This was great again, thank you. I love that these videos aren't that long that it gets a little overwhelming, I definately need to visit these wonderful historic buildings.

Thankyou Patricia, it appears that we have achieved 2 of our goals ! It is easy to switch off with history we agree, so try to switch it up a bit and bring it to life - and you want to visit which is great!

We visited Ludlow castle today. Very informative video thank you. I found the 3 murder holes but then could see no gateway, so thougjt I was mistaken. That explains it, a sealed up gateway and a new means of entry. A cracking castle and would have been a mighty fortress to attack.

When you said church I immediately thought “Templar church” like the one in London even before you said it. Templar churches were usually round.

I was looking at my phone as this started playing... She was talking fast (in a good way) and it didn't compute as speech for a couple seconds _ it was amazing; registered chaos, becoming speech now. time to focus. NO WAIT COFFEE

Very impressive ,important ,and historic ,it was from here that the princes in the tower left for London when Edward 4th died,only to be stopped by Richard. I have been to this castle twice,last time was to a Christmas medieval fair ,everyone was dressed in the medieval style and people showing how things were made at the time. Well worth the visit your score 8.5 is just about right,i wondered if you considered giving it 9 😁Thanks for the video

Less of the hosts on camera and more of the buildings' details and rooms we're supposed to be seeing would make this the best channel of this kind on KZbin.

Thankyou for your comments - A big aspect of our productions uses the chemistry of our two presenters, in the hope that their passion for history and castles impacts on our audience, in the hope that they will be inspired to actively go out and explore the castles for themselves. We try to keep the history lesson short, but as long as we feel it needs to be, whilst being mindful of how much history to cover in the space of a short video. I think it would be an impossible task to please everyone!

I agree. I think this couple are wonderful in their characters , enthusiasm and presentations and smart to have a good camera operator. However I came here to see the visual details and am always hoping to see the remains of residence quarters. What's the harm in doing more Voice Overs your personalities and knowledge would still come across?

Did the windows ever have glass panes?
@govisitcastles
@govisitcastles 2 ай бұрын
A good question! Some fortified buildings did during the Norman period, but mainly churches. Windows usually had wooden shutters with an iron bar across. But by the Tudor period, glazed windows were more common.

The best one yet, guys! Ive been to Ludlow town (worth visiting in its own right) but never been within the castle grounds I would love to see the Templar chapel. I reckon you should try and recruit Leon Bracelin to the team!

Great stuff! I'm just curious why the 'colour-blind' section is created, it adds nothing but hiding the interesting stone tints :(

Hi, thanks for your comment. I created that scene with the music very much in mind, de-saturising the footage created and enhanced the mystery of the mood - I tried both, annd B/W worked better (for me anyway)!
