⁠@@monkeydkong3399Were it any other man with his same powers in this position, they’d probably have resorted to drinking in order to try and deal with Luffy’s antics well before this point…but Kaido’s doing this Gear 5 fight sober for now. Much as I love a good curb stomp like with Gear 2 vs. Blueno or Gear 4 vs. Doffy whenever it was active, it’s nice to see someone who’s able to somewhat keep up with a new gear shift without any potentially (and self-inflicted in the case of Katakuri) debilitating injuries holding them back (remember Lucci’s legs got broken when he took that first Gigant Pistol head-on; he was fighting on borrowed time from that point on).

I don't think the ground is rubberized, I think it's visually representing the high speed Kaido is moving at. The ground is rippling from the force of Kaido's impact, and he is leaping away before we see it shatter. Like a slow motion shot of someone being slapped in the face.

I think it is a shockwave traveling through the ground from Kaido landing and then pushing off, and we see it moving so fluidly as a visual cue that Kaido is moving at incredible speed, so fast that near-instantaneous events like shockwaves through stone can be broken down and perceived step-by-step.

Kaido sure has lived up to the hype. The guy has fought nearly non-stop all night long against some of the strongest fighters in the New Order, even his own daughter, and is now fighting the closest thing that the setting currently has to a genuine GOD, and he's still going strong despite his clear exhaustion. It's gonna take that island sized fist to finally bring him down because if it doesn't, they were just never meant to win!

Luffy seems to have mega toon force resistance in this state. Like getting blown up and just shaking the ash and being fine. But his body amd energy levels are still getting hurt. Cause after this fight hes down for like a week

Since zoan devil fruit awakenings make the user more animalistic I think this is making it harder for luffy to concentrate on deploying observation haki as he hasn't mastered gear 5, which is why he isn't able to dodge however this isn't a problem since he is able reduce the impact of haki coated attacks with his awakened body

I’ve watched and followed plenty of anime in my life. I’m not a casual watcher but not too obsessed with this genre either. However, Oda really made something here. Something great. Something amazing. Watching Luffy let loose against Kaido with such light-hearted fierceness that makes you smile but not forget the seriousness of what’s at stake is so hard to accomplish. Yet here we are enjoying the fruit of Oda’s labor. AND HE’S JUST STARTING!
