So she gathers money to use it specifically to save those she loves. Even if it's not totally conscious, I absolutely think this is Nami's real motivation for being so money-minded! @@manuelferrari6685I would argue that being a cliche doesn’t render it apolitical. I would also argue that one piece has far more politics than that, although I’m sure you were just simplifying. It touches on ecological conservation and the the effects it has on the spread of illnesses, it touches on the media and propaganda, it touches on resistance groups and the tactics they use not necessarily being purely good either, it touches on scientific innovation and its human costs, the list goes on. About Garp: the anime changes a significant aspect of his and Luffy's relationship. It's not as apparent yet, but there is some added filler scenes that shifts their relationship from the manga. Without being specific, what you should keep in mind is what you saw in Post Enies when he showed up there: 1, Luffy is afraid of him, and 2, he only takes Garp's hits and asks for forgiveness and doesn't even try to hit back, and 3, he says that Garp almost killed him several times, while Garp says he did it to make Luffy stronger. Its played for laughs, but if you look at it carefully it becomes evident that while Garp may have fond memories of Luffy as a kid, Luffy doesn't remember it that way.
@davelape672021 күн бұрын
and idk why they think garp is weak and can't capture luffy. when garp: (at this point) - vice admiral - called a marine hero - rogers rival - an admiral(aokiji) is thanking garp for saving - luffy is afraid of him - 1 shotted luffy in live action wc is they already seen - massive progress from his disciples(koby). it reflects how strong the teacher - disrespecting the marines and many more evidence up to this point of series
@derivate_lang20 күн бұрын
@@davelape6720 Yeah, although I think that Garp's strength is a lot easier to have a grip on when you've seen/read further, or maybe even reread (like I have done far too many times, lol), because he shows up so briefly and a lot of time passes between his appearances. And I think that the LA made him seem more... like, normal? I mean, in the manga/anime Garp still sees Luffy as the unruly grandkid who should show some respect and if he doesn't he'll just get the "first of love" and that's that. He prefers it if Luffy gets away (at the end of Water Seven) so he goofs off with the capture, but he doesn't really have ideas of making him a "worthy" pirate, or anything. And before I go on more of a tangent: having Garp challenging Luffy, even if he can beat Luffy easily, makes him seem less far beyong Luffy than he really is at that point, is what I'm getting at.
