Lufthansa's Business Class on their 747-8 - What's it REALLY Like? | Trip Report

Today, I'll show you EXACTLY what it's like flying on Lufthansa's Queen of the Skies. After a quick flight to IAD, we settle into our Business class seats... on the upper deck.

Good job with your first trip report! My first flight to Germany was when I was 17 years old in 1989 on a Lufthansa 747-230 in economy... ALONE... to say with a host family that summer as part of an exchange. Fast forward to 2017... I brought my family from Boston to Germany on a 747-8i in economy. Big difference! I'm scheduled to fly over again from Newark in November in the upper deck of the 747-8i so I will get to share the same experience!

It's nothing special on LH. It's a very outdated interior.

@@johniii8147 Yes it is, but for the person who commented that they hope to fly business on board a 747, I am sure they will be happy to fly on any of the few airlines that still have them in service, dated interior or not.

I recently flew on LH upper deck. The seats are not business class seats. I felt cheated. The Frankfurt business class lounge is stellar. I spent eight hours there! The absence of priority boarding and deplaning is to be deprecated. Crew were fabulous.

In my experience, I have heard many mixed opinions regarding LH’s business class or the airline in general. Personally, every time I’ve flown on the airline, everything was fine. I too have spent my fair share of hours in the FRA lounge, but I enjoyed some planespotting during the wait. At Washington Dulles (IAD), all premium cabin members were able to board from within both first and business lounges, as shown in this video. I agree with your last statement as well, Lufthansa has very polite crew members that always have my respect.

I flew on this exact plane ("YS") from JNB to FRA about 2 years ago, though on the main deck business class. Our flight attendants were very nice, but the food was not nearly as good as what you got out of IAD. And those seats... time to update to all seats having direct aisle access. I guess that's going to be a bit of a challenge because the main deck is so wide, so the usual 1x2x1 layout will likely result in a lot of wasted space (and lost revenue). Will be interested to see what they come up with when they decide to replace the current seats.

Why is he so natural at this im around his age im addicted to aviation but literally can’t do anything because my job doesn’t pay near enough to afford model aircraft while being able to buy normal stuff and also i never ever go on flights what suck anyway good job this vid was amazing i could compare it to many aviation channels and yours could be better

Great video. I've never flown Lufthansa before, but just because I love my previous experience with the B747 upper deck so much, I booked two flights with 747-8 this winter. I saw different opinions about Lufthansa's business class, so I hope to have something like yours.

There are usually no mandatory dress codes onboard commercial flights, as there aren’t here.

Thank you! The 747-400 used to be such an easy aircraft to find, but it’s safe to say its numbers have dramatically decreased. Pretty cool you were able to fly one of KLM’s before it was retired! ✈️

You can also catch the jumbo jet out of Terminal B EWR the 6:10 pm departure LH403 EWR-FRA. Neighboring JFK has the daily B747-8 out of ICN KE086/085. To sum it up you have three operators left of this version Air China Lufthansa and Korean Air. In my families case they were originally scheduled to do KE086 B747-8 on 12/26 instead they chose A350-900 PR127. Excellent video overall and one last question which one would you take between IAD and FRA choices are LH B747-8 or UA B777-300? Which you actually mentioned in your Frankfurt airport model video and I subbed to tour channel

I feel that this was a very fulfilling flight to me, since not only was it my first flight on a wide body in almost four years, but it was also my first documented flight on a 747 (if not the first in general). To answer your question: 773 or 747? I would choose the 747 not only because it’s simply a rare aircraft, but it’s not your typical wide body. All plane types look different from the outside, but in the inside wide bodies and narrow bodies seem the same when compared to others of their type. On the 747 you can admire its many engines, and upper deck. Thank you for your support and curiosity! :)
