Whatever you do - don't capture Ajacco on Corsica. This freaking place is like a tourist hotspot, I swear. Each freaking Mediterranean faction will visit it and try to take it from you. Even goddamn Moors. Even freaking Pope stationed some armies there, I don't know why. This poor region will add you more headache than actual help and will drag you into war with lots of factions for no reason. Ignore it.

my favorite faction. hilarious accents, good color scheme, good starting position to expand into britain, some of the best foot archers in the game, some of the most elite knights in the game, wide selection of heavy infantry and polearms, actuall good units coming from your cities (other than the italian factions, French city units are probably some of the strongest).

@@dimifisher yes, it was common for the French to aid the Scots or vice versa. Often times if the English invaded France, the Scots would attack England. When the English attacked Scotland the French sent reinforcements and advisors, I believe the Jacobite Uprising in 1745 was a prime example of this. There is also the Auld Alliance between Scotland and France, dating back to 1200 something made specifically to curtail English attacks on either country that was in place for approx 250 years or so.

I noticed that economic wise, the French are the easiest faction, never had financial problems throughout the campaign, however the only faction I haven't went to war is with Spanish, mostly I fought against HRE and Milan, so I mostly went for Milan to take aways their good settlements and focused on middle east.

economics wise, france and the italian factions are the most powerful because you can convert all your castles to cities and still have a strong military

at one moment as france my Military was so good it crashed my econonmy..took me several turns to recover..forcing me to delete a good chunk of my forces..luckily it was all my crusade forces..meaning when the HRE, Miland, and Sicily all attacked me at once..i still had decent forces in france, and a new refreshed econonmy..i saved than and now prepare to fight back

when i played them..i had united the French territories...took out egypt and reclaimed jerusalem in a crusade only ment for Cairo..made many alliances and trade deals..and at one point was top in EVERY CATEGORY...but than i had a econonmic collapse, and was attacked on 2 fronts..and afew alliances where broken..but i recovered from the collapse..and luckily as the units i disbanded to recover where my crusade units..it means france itself never lost any units..meaning im fully set to launch a counteroffensive! and all of this in the over 40 turns

Strong and diverse unit roster too. They have everything: Both offensive and defensive foot units, powerful cavs (one of the best in the West as the game describes), and they even have missile units on both foot and mounted version! (also armor piercing) And the later missile units can engage in melee.

I think the Scots guards resulted in needing the French to have an elite archery unit, as their archers suck, and also recognition of the French and Scottish friendly relationship because both countries hated England. As for the Longbow, it was the Welsh that provided Longbows, so it should be a Welsh guard. I'm not sure to what extent the Scots did. Scottish are better known for pike formations and shock infantry, not archery, let alone Longbow

Nope, Scots were not famous for their pike formations. Actually only time they tried to apply that weapons and tactic was at the early 1500-es and they got their arses handed back to them. Hard.

I would say 100% go for HRE. The faction has the most provinces in game and they get OP pretty fast. Also the AI HRE tends to leave many units in cities+the additonal stacks roaming around that make conquest hard later on. The British usually are not an issue even late game. They tend to keep peace treaty for a long time. Milan is an easy target too. Spain is indeed a no no.

Do you understand anything about basic warfare tactics? the reason why horseman carry both spears and swords is because spears are for charge and swords for melee, every cavalrymen in this game does that

Toulouse and Dijon are correct but Bordeaux should be "Bored'O" , Rennes is like "Ren" kinda like "pen" but with a R instead of P (because the "s" is silent) and finally Rheims is how u thought Rennes is pronounced so it's something like "Ranss". And to be honest many of us native speakers struggle to pronounce some of those city names so... I hope that helps !
