Luke, the way locals eat the claypot rice is like this:1. scoop all the meat and other chucks off onto the empty communal plate, but leave the salted fish on top of the rice2. smash the salted fish and mix it into the rice3. add oil and dark soy sauce to taste. Mix rice again4. scoop rice into personal bowls and eat while picking off morsels from the communal plate.

Very misinformed individual. There are frequent hygiene and health inspections. All hawker stalls are given a grade by the national environment agency. Grading is regularly reviewed and compulsory to be displayed prominently at the stalls. What is more poisonous is probably ignorant people like you.

Great video but you eating satay wrong. Bite a bit off, than poke some onions and some ketupat before dipping it all into the peanut sauce. You will taste all of the flavours at one go and not in parts. Enjoy

I cook Asian food at home from time to time and my biggest problem in following original recipes is lack of high-temperature clay-pot. We have hundreds of them in sale but none support open fire so I have to cook in frying pan then move to clay pot in oven. It is not that effective in caramelizing but still works.
