Consisting of the cooked ground beef, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, pickle, cheese and the crispy fries all placed in a panni and sealed shut on all sides with a flat hot grill press. Absolute heaven after a night out drinking and just before going back onboard the ship for curfew.

From my search in... Internet, some ancient words from Athenaeus, Deipnosofists, many many, many ages ago, before Turks come to Asia Minor... GASTRIS: "And also,' says he, 'in Crete they make a kind of cheesecake (sic, phyllo pastry is described in the ancient text) which they call gastris. And it is made thus: - Take some Thasian and Pontic nuts and some almonds, and also a poppy. Roast this last with great care, and then take the seed and pound it in a clean mortar; [648] then, adding the fruits which I have mentioned above, beat them up with boiled honey, putting in plenty of pepper, and make the whole into a soft mass, (but it will be of a black colour because of the poppy;) flatten it and make it into a square shape; then, having pounded some white sesame, soften that too with boiled honey, and draw it out into two cakes, placing one beneath and the other above, so as to have the black surface in the middle, and make it into a neat shape.' These are the recipes of that clever writer on confectionary, Chrysippus". (I tried to find an english translation, because for many people greek are totally "greek to them"...😁).(Source: www.attalus.org/old/athenaeus14c.html) And an... homeric recipe of souvlaki = eis ovelous (=spits) So he spake, and Patroclus gave ear to his dear comrade. He cast down a great fleshing-block in the light of the fire and laid thereon a sheep's back and a fat goat's, and the chine of a great hog withal, rich with fat. And Automedon held them for him, while goodly Achilles carved. [210] Then he sliced the meat with care and spitted it upon spits, and the son of Menoetius, a godlike man, made the fire blaze high. But when the fire had burned down and the flame was abated, he scattered the embers and laid thereover the spits, and sprinkled the morsels with holy salt when he had set them upon the fire-dogs. But when he had roasted the meat and laid it on platters, [215] Patroclus took bread and dealt it forth on the table in fair baskets, while Achilles dealt the meat. Himself he sate him down over against godlike Odysseus, by the other wall, and bade Patroclus, his comrade, offer sacrifice to the gods; [220] (Homer, ILIAD, BOOK 9, www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0134%3Abook%3D9%3Acard%3D205) Everything is written and curved on the marbles and painted on pottery many ages ago, only the names were changed.

@@clmky5485 I have not enough time to search in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is too poor for knowledge. I prefer searching in ancient texts for my recipes.

Can we get some restaurant names for these places in the description. I’d like to visit some of these restaurants but example “lamb chops” isn’t specific enough to find that place.

It's all in Turkey, most Turkish food, gyro, Doner yoghurt sold in Europe is already Turkish, and you can find everything else in Turkey, even more, you should see Istanbul, both Greek history and Turkish history Greek people and Turkish people love each other, we are waiting for you in Turkey.
