I feel like if Linux itself were to “die” because of an issue like this, then overall the idea of Linux has failed us. Linux is an ever changing being that anyone can contribute to and to let a small group of people “destroy” it is almost amazing to think about. I think the way we need to look at this is just the next evolution of Linux itself. Fork it, mod it, swap it, whatever. Linus will at some point will inevitably die and someone will need to keep the ball rolling.

Kris Occhipinti Google plans to replace android linux core with it's own version. Sjws somehow manage to get linus torvalds to leave and get 9 of the 10 devs on the kernel to sign off on this COC without any consulting of the community . Seems shady as all get out. Good advice Luke. I'd like to add to that by saying we need to recognize that many parts of society (open software collaboration is one example) is harmed by the application of false realities such as 'community' and by using a pseudo-language to describe such things as 'inclusion'. I say this because the community construct is a myth; there really isn't one, nor should there be - because if there was, that very community would, by virtue, need to accommodate the very idiocy that, given the right opportunity, will tear down that society to reconstruct it in it's own form. Community 'spaces' are tantamount to sanitizing the dynamics of human interaction - in all it's filth and glory - and is counterproductive and inefficient. Open source does not translate to open politics and these people with their ideological perversions are, in essence, the 'enemy' and ignoring them has not and will not make them go away. Personally I'm most disappointed there will likely be no more public comments of the "Nvidia... fuck you" kind. Society needs people like Linus who aren't scared to say these things - loudly! At the end of the day the loss is not going to be related to Linux kernel code quality, but rather the loss is no longer having someone who has contributed so much and has the balls to say "Fuck You!".

I don't understand what is wrong with Firefox? I watched closely the work of Steve Klabnik and Carol Nichols on building Rust community, Rust and Servo engine are ground breaking and Firefox technologically superior now. That being said, I must say that is totally feasible to have great code quality without being disrespectful or a jerk. Many times Linus behavior was out of boundaries of what anyone would expect from a leader, cursing people does not generate code quality. I'm a software engineer and is common in my field to say that Brilliant Jerks doesn't pay off and you should fire them as soon as you realize their behavior. Another point is: if Linux success depends on Linus being alive and ahead of the project it's already doomed, Linus won't live forever. I think, now, the Linus job should be to build a community with solid core values that can overpass his mortality.

The state of Linux is that this year is it gained the ability to play Windows games seamlessly via Steam. This was the single largest hurdle to mass adoption and will likely result in Linux overtaking Apple's marketshare within a decade. Next year a Linux powered smartphone will debut from a company that has successfully produced Linux hardware as their entire product line(Purism). This phone will completely avoid Google's Android/Chrome ecosystem. So both Google and Microsoft have a reason to want to hobble Linux but keep it around as a resource, and I would not be even slightly surprised to learn that Microsoft and Google have shoehorned the SJW's into position to do this in order to prevent Linux from growing into a competitor to their own walled-garden products.

I've noticed that many software projects not only public and opensource, but corporate too, are following this left paradigms in management, that kind of management leads to situations where is nobody taking responsibility for certain actions or parts of project, and this leads to - if "success", then this is community reward, if "fail", they blame somebody, because they have lack of personal responsibility for errors. What I hope for is that if a movement to the BSDs is made, it's diffuse enough that no one organization can be so effectively coopted like Linux was, and that it will be large enough for major software projects to come to those BSDs. As far as public reactions to the overreach of SJWs, I am curious to see how far back the pendulum will swing (assuming it does ). I've felt nothing but constant irritation over the last 4 years watching all of my hobbies and interests get corrupted by them, and I'd be lying if I said it hasn't upset me.

I was driven off and suspended from twitter by people of no particular ideology (left or right) for stating opinions, and also received a fair amount of threats. I was told my tweets were abusive despite never getting heated with anyone and receiving a fair amount of threats from these people. I don't think some SJWs are the only people that want to restrict free speech. And yes I know Twitter is not the same as being silenced in other walks of life, but these people would happily silence me and worse in those areas too if they could.
