Anything over 45 is very good average for a batsman but it also depends on where you play. In England where it rains a lot, the ball moves in the air a lot more and is usually harder to bat in. Most of the current English batsmen playing for England are averaging around 35 at the moment

In simple terms average means (e.g - 45 here) that he scores at least 45 in every innings or everytime he bats. Basically its just the total number of runs scored by the batsmen divided by the number of innings he'd played in that particular format (like test or t20)
@UmpireStrikesBack6 ай бұрын
Runs per dismissal not runs per innings.
@chandrashekharb.77086 ай бұрын
@@UmpireStrikesBackits the same thing. Innings are counted based on dismissals only.
@UmpireStrikesBack6 ай бұрын
@@chandrashekharb.7708 You are incorrect. Go and look at any batters statistics. They will include matches, innings, not outs, runs, highest score, average etc. Then do the maths yourself, determine the runs divided by innings and you will discover it does not equal the average. Then determine the runs divided by (innings minus not outs). This will equal the average. Therefore dismissals are the innings minus the not outs. Dismissals are NOT the same as innings.

5:10 45+ average is always good but you should also consider the changes cricket went through in the last 40 years. Things like bat dimensions, newer bowling techniques (revese swing, knuckle ball) and field restrictions (in ODIs & T20s) have all been recent changes cricket

An average of more than 40 runs is very very good achievement. As the RED ball used in Test cricket, stays hard for longer time and Swings more than white ball. The red ball behaves different on different pitches (playing surfaces), and is more challenging too. Nicely done video. Thank you.

Averaging around 40 runs per match is considered a good avg. For players from England, Australia, South Africa etc. But in the Indian cricket team avg. Around 50 is considered good, you will find the majority of top batsmen in the Indian team averaging between 45 to 50 runs. It is hard to find a spot in the team if u don't maintain this consistency of scoring runs
@hi_pd7 ай бұрын
5:33 A batter can never guarantee 50 runs in every match but if they can, then they are great batters. Runs might come easy but bowlers improve too. For Test and One Day International, an average of 60 is amazing. I would say, a good batter should have an average of 45. For T20, if a batter can maintain an average of 35, they are decently better than the rest scoring below. Side Note: For a batter, the average is calculated in the following manner: Total runs scored - divided by - Number of times gone out So, if somebody abandons the team and starts playing for numbers, all they need to do is score some runs and avoid getting out 😆

Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest all-round multi-format batters in the history of professional cricket, taking into account his longevity, consistency, contributions, skills, technique, and the overall impact he has made to international cricket. I don't think this video did justice to Sachin's career. Justs stating facts and few key moments doesn't do justice. On top of that the video mentions the "ball tampering" controversy (a very insignificant part of Sachin's career) and the video didn't even explain the circumstances of the allegations, of how Tendulkar was cleaning the seam and genuinely forgot to inform the umpires, which he should've, and the video doesn't mention how the umpires didn't find any anomaly with the ball at that time (during their periodic checks) but still the match referee Denness took things in his hands and arbitrarily declared the "ball tampering" charges on a player like Sachin Tendulkar who has shown huge integrity at all times in his career. And the video mentions it without context, and I didn't like how this video totally underplayed Sachin Tendulkar as a player, as a human being. From the video, I was expecting some insights on his batting style, how he perfected every kind of shot, how he could face and handle any kind of bowling thrown at him, how he could handle big, stronger super aggressive top bowlers like Akhtar, Lee, Wasim, Mcgrath, etc... who are aiming for his head with bouncers (he was short and those days there was no limit to number of bouncers balls over the shoulder) or top spinners like Shane Warne, Muralidharan etc.. and Sachin score high runs against them (those rivalries are legendary),how he could handle huge pressures and stay calm, his sportsmanship, and his integrity of walking away immediately after he got out even before Umpire calls him out... So many great qualities in sachin as a player and human. Please choose better videos that actually explain stuff, instead of just plain readouts of the stats, which doesn't mean anything for you at least who is new to all this.

That's what makes Sachin the true diamond of the game not his runs or his avg
