Consider this a five-star review from a verified purchaser, the delighted owner of Eric’s poster child SKX007 mod. I loved my SKX when I put it in a box and sent it to Eric. Communication was excellent throughout a friction-free transaction, and in the end, I’m wearing the perfected edition. Changed the way I think about the watch and keeps way better time. If you love the face but tire of the shuffle and reset routine, Eric is your guy.

Of course to avoid exchanging the date wheel, you could just order an NH36 movement for "crown at 3.8 position" and be done with it. Also, the black ring fitting tighter than the gray ring must be due to factory tolerances and is not relevant, as the movement is anyway pressed between the chapter ring and the caseback lip, so don't worry about it if you're using an original SKX case or fully compatible one.

I actually remember that the two watches were the SKX007 (entry level she said) and an orange Monster. She said the SKX didn't hack or wind. After explaining to me what that meant, I thought that I didn't want an SKX. And I thought the SKX was too expensive. Of course, 2 decades later I wish I had bought one. 😃😃😃

Doesthe new movement or crown affect the watche's waterproofness?
@moswap38764 жыл бұрын
Around 19:33 you can see that the dimensions of the O-Ring(gasket) are different. This will result in a different compression of it and thus less/more waterproofness. You can see the different ring size here as well: seikoparts.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/qfrzft1.jpg To be compared for sure, the material and correct dimensions of the O-Ring are needed. Despite that I think the main seal is inside the crowns head, and will be compressed when screwing the crown on. Since the thread size is the same that shouldn't affect the waterproofness a lot. But make sure to pressure test the case if you really need a waterproof watch. Use a pressure of at least 20 Bar for 200m.

Is the NH36 movement more reliable and accurate than the 7S26?
@LumeShot6 жыл бұрын
On average yes however if either movement gets regulated, it would be much more accurate. However, the 4r36 is hacking so it can be more accurate since you can set the second to a precise location.
@MrParticular6 жыл бұрын
Lume Shot How do you regulate it? Is it servicing it every couple of years?
@lamyz9556 жыл бұрын
Gearology For regulation you can bring your watch to a watchmaker. It’s a rather easy process thus they charge very little (I’ve heard some even do it for free?), however it’s way less time costing when you have a timegrapher. The 7s26 movement doesn’t really require any service. It can run for years without needing any.

Nice Video, why do you change the Daywheel? Is the NH36 Daywheel nod fit to Seiko Dail?
@sllim024 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for this content! Is there a way to overcome the day wheel swap and the plastic movement holder swap if you do not have a 7s26 to swap parts with? Since crystal times and Namoki has after market skx style cases, there is not much of an incentive to buy a whole skx since the parts can be sourced individually. I’m curious how you have been overcoming this hurdle now for a ground up build. Does the alignment issues for the 4 o’ clock crown hold true if you are doing a build with both for the NH35 (date complication only) and NH36a (day date complication)?

I have a question... First of all, I love the way the SXK looks and it is one of the most comfortable case designs I've ever worn. I had one for about 4 months but sold it because I can't stand the automatic movement. I also have another, watch that has the SII NH35A in it. I am considering selling the Diver with SII NH35A because I do not like automatic movements. Please don't think I'm crazy, but I am interested in acquiring a pre-owned SKX (possibly advertised as non-running or for "parts or repair") and using it as a platform to build my dream diver. Externally I plan to clean up the case and keep it simple with just a custom bezel and double domed Sapphire. Here's where my plan gets weird... I want to install a quality Quartz movement. Something like a quality, long battery life Seiko if that exists. I own many watches that use Ronda 515/715 movements I absolutely love them. I would even be interested in the Ronda 715Li if it's 4.6mm height could be made to fit. I know ETA makes fine Quartz movements as well. I know that Seiko had a Quartz version of the SKX (but it did not carry the SKX name) back in the eighties, so I figure it must be possible... Do you know if this is possible? If so what movement would you recommend? What other parts might be recommended? Thank You for any crumbs you might throw my way! LOL.
@LumeShot6 жыл бұрын
Fitting a different movement into a case other than the movement that the case was intended for is most likely not possible. The cases are constructed to accommodate specific movements. Of course, if the movement dimensions are the same they will work but there is no guarantee it is possible unless a full specification of dimensions are compared.

How much would you charge to swap out the day and date wheels of an SKX or any other Seiko 5? (And, would that include the wheels, or do I have to supply them with the watch? Same question, to swap the hands.

Is the bracelet original SKX? What would be the cost for making a SKX013 in this Oyester bracelet?
