reviews should be objective no? not microsoft bias fans. anyways, the 950 camera has been a disappointment to many. The camera tends to oversaturate and create unrealistic colors. He should have have tested the 950 against the s7, not the s6.

+MrWalker1000 I haven't found that to be the case. It occasionally gets colour wrong, but so do the other phone cameras. I'm using a Lumia 950 after 6yrs of Android (which I loved) and 3 boring yrs of iPhone. I haven't looked back. The camera is way ahead of the S6 and previous and similar to the S7. Lumia 950 vs S7 can go either way depending on the light and the scene. The iPhone isn't in the race.

Google won't submit their apps (other than search app) until Windows Mobile market share is big enough. Sadly, this is unacceptable now with Windows 10 and UWP, 400 million+ users, granted mostly non-mobile phone, but still, they are more than capable of making a true UWP app for all Windows devices-pc, xbox, phone. Same goes for Amazon and eBay, will be reluctantly looking elsewhere for my purchases..!

Did you know you can pin the official Amazon web page to the start screen that is as good as a app, there is mytube which is better than the original KZbin app itself, you can also pin Ebay website to the start screen, which works as a charm, anyway I hope this helps.

I've heard people complain that the 950 doesn't have a "premium" feel. The iPhone 6 does feel nice, the Samsung S6 is slippy and rubbish, but neither of them can replace the battery or hold a micro SD card, so it's a no contest.

5:39 iris scanner, not face recognition; it's way safer than face recognition great video overall, though :) better than what iVerge and Jaime Rivera from Pocketnow did, which gave almost no positive about the 950

It was called "iris scanner" in some leaked advertising material but there's no way they can actually get an image of your retina at that distance with so much freedom of relative positioning. I'm pretty sure it's the same as my Surface Pro 4, which uses face recognition, probably 3D though.

zmast333 nope, a picture of your face or your eyes can't fool it and IRIS is different with RETINA iris is the coloured part of your eyes, retina is the one deep inside, and iris can show patterns in exposure to IR light

The best impartial review I have seen about Lumia phones! If I am not wrong, werent you the one who used to upload short films / camera samples for Lumia 925 and 1020 ? I was a fan of those videos. I couldnt find those in your profile! Coming to Lumia, With 950 / 950 XL they have answered almost all the wishes of the customers! But everyone is letting a very good phone go away due to their inhibitions and fake news articles pulling down Lumia phones with prejudice! ***** Well said :-) Most of the reviews about 950 XL is titled like "Lumia 950 XL - Nope" , "Lumia 950 XL - Good but we dont need it etc. Actually iPhone has bias but it isnt affecting its market. Whereas Lumia phones are literally ignored. But MS do have to take the blame. They are neither well marketed nor well stocked in my country. No brand ambassador! I think Satya just is waiting for the Nokia contract to end so that MS could focus totally on Surface phones! Hence there is no overspend on marketing Lumia! No one seems to be buying Lumia 1520/ 930 ! If I get one of these for around 300 $ I would pick them up!

I have an app on my iPhone for low light with full shutter control as well as a suite of manual operations. The ability to plug it into a monitor is a noble idea though I would hardly ever use that personally. Still, seem like a good phone and the competition is healthy for the market.

Right said bro...the camera simply annihilates with a vengeance....im owning one since Dec 15..and the live widgets...thats a winner by all means...u may not even have to touch the screen to get so much info.... one thing i must add that the screen is very highly responsive and silk smooth......and also the keyboard ...its purely professional which the iphoney and Samdung lacks.....apps shapps...its farce.....it can support so many real software....word. powerpoint ...etc.....which the iphoney doesnt have..

Eskild, what frame rates do you film in? The new A6300 seems great but 4K 30p isn't really viable option due to the huge difference in crop therefore I'm looking into 24p for when I go to Japan (25p here in Singapore!) I am curious because the footage looks really smooth and Norway is a PAL country!

+Rouji4256 Good question! I film everything in 25 fps. But filming in 24 or 30 isn't going to make much of a difference, now that everything is digital, and especially not here on KZbin. 60 fps is more for video games, where the big frame rate can be advantageous =)

+Emil Jensen Personally, I think the XL is too big, and it offers very little advantage over the regular 950. I prefer to be able to operate the mobile with one hand. But that's my opinion, so you'll have to decide for yourself. And if you're used to the S6 edge plus, I think you won't notice much difference there anyway. So as long as you can do without all the latest apps, I think it's a great option. And it has by far the best camera of all mobiles =)

I had my eye on the Lumias, but I cannot escape the Android world now that I've purchased some necessary Google apps, which of course are not present in this attractive phone (personal opinion). I meant to ask you something about your video recording process. Given we are not (I assume) native English speakers, do you use autocue when speaking to the camera, have you planned your words in any way and are you doing any kind of voiceover? I'm having trouble filming my own videos in English and have tried a bunch of different methods, ending up talking in my native language (Greek) and adding subtitles afterwards. I wonder though if that's the optimal solution. Once again, thank you for the video and all the tips I learnt from your channel over the years. Keep it up!

This was very hard in the beginning, and I spent a lot of time getting it right. But after making so many videos, I've become better at it, and even improvise without a script sometimes. People always moan about lack of apps for WP(and its usually people who havnt used the WP platform)... Personally after using smartphones for a few years now, most of the apps i use are already there with the exception of snapchat. I have used WP7, WP8, Android & IOS over the years & i find the apps pretty much for muchness, its the handsets that enhance a users experience. Unfortunately WP doesnt seem to carry many manufacturers these days & the lower end always feel a lot cheaper than the Android budget phones. Also people just buy into the Apple vs Samsung war like there are no other manufacturers out there.... Expand your mind & bring a bit of Lumia happiness into your lives.... Now anyone recommend where i can buy one of these 950s for a decent price in the UK as CPW are trying to punt it for £399/US$494

He's right, depends on what matters to you most: Camera, Apps, simple phone operation, battery life.. For me, as a Windows Mobile fan, Windows phones are as stable as Android or iphone, have the apps I need, great camera, good battery life, but above all else they are updated faster due to Windows Insider Programme. Windows may be enforcing regular updates, but the only alternative is a buggy, insecure operating system... Oh, don't forget cross-platform (1 app (one-time cost) across all your devices pc, xbox, hololens, mobile) apps, Continuum. :)

seems pretty good, i'm using Lumia 535 with WP10. Operamini is very slow. KZbin also not as good as on Android, I mean like in usability. Facebook experience is not as good as on Android pictures not loading, generally very slow. That's most what I use on my smartphone. as for computer desktop I suppose Android could do MHL or Miracast as well as USB host so quite on par here. camera indeed very good, but a full size dslr tripod? you might as well bring your mirrorless camera.

+Budi Suryadinata Yeah, I tested other Lumia phones, and the 950 seemed to be a lot faster with most apps. The tripod was only used to get as similar images as possible, so you don't really need it. Half the shots, including the low lights were shot handheld after all =)

I really liked the 950 had to return it cause I couldn't justify the price to build quality.... good phone tho maybe the surface phone or HP x3
