Camera of 950 was by far the best one. Natural colors, image stabilization, and the SOUND is better on lumia 950 when you're using headphones, samsung was so noisy. The only think samsung won was that it focused faster, but other aspects lumia definitely win.

The only thing I agree with here is that the microphone was better. The s7 camera was so much better. The Lumia was so shaky, blurry, and cartoony. The s7 is clear, sharp, vibrant, and stable. The only time the s7 was shaky was on the front facing camera. But the s7 front facing camera is still much better!

I think you should've put both videos side by side but leave them unnamed. Then let people choose trough the pole if they like "A" or "B" video and announce which was which in a following video. This way you can eliminate the "fanboy" base and let people evaluate only based on what they see. Anyway, now since I own a 950 XL and by looking at those videos I can only assure myself that the 950 XL is better. The white balance is superb, the color representation is much better than the S7 and would you look at that image stabilization. I can only be happy that I made the right choice. The slo-mo is not a deal-breaker for me, nor is it that important to the general user. They will eventually add 240fps to the Lumia so it's not that much of a factor. As I am not some blind fanboy who likes to hate on everything else, I would like to give kudos to the AF of the S7 camera - it is very fast and responsive to different conditions, bravo. I still don't understand why the AF on my Lumia is so slow at times, and it's not even that consistent. Sometimes it's super fast and responsive and sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds to focus. Hoping they'll fix this issue in future updates. As I said, don't be a hater and say it's not good only because it wasn't made by your favorite brand. I am judging the videos based on what I'm seeing.

Totally agree with your comment. There is no better camera on a smartphone, nothing can beat the 950XL right now in terms of camera. This being said, the S7 has very nice camera and yes the autofocus is quite fast and reliable. I just touch the screen part where I want my 950XL to focus and that's it.

Lumia 950 Xl has Microphone at the back ,..So as if we are recording the video means the sound coming in front us will be recorded perfectly and crystal clear whereas the sound from our side is low ,....Dont say lumia has low microphone quality

The 950XL seems to use the system that came out with the Lumia ICON. It actually focuses the sound on what's out front and reduces the sound behind you. I realized to talk to the SIDE of it rather than behind it when narrating videos with them and the sound is nice and loud then. Of course when recording the sound of the object in front of you, the Lumia is excellent.

Without doubt the S7 has much faster focus and brighter image, but the 950xl has more natural colors and the front facing camera has OIS which the S7 should have but doesn't have. Also when going to the sky and to the sun the 950XL does a better job of the sun while the S7 makes the sun look ugly. I will go with the 950XL because of what the front camera having OIS and the rear having more natural colors. Either way its so hard to decide these days which camera is better

I have a 950 and I never had the problem with the focus you see in this video, sometimes it takes more time than usual to focus when you change quickly the object you are recording but most part of time it does correctly. If the Galaxy S7 focus correctly 100% of times then I could say is better for this specific subjet. In stabilisation and colours I prefer Lumia 950.

Except from the focusing on video, everything is better with Lumia 950XL, the Front Facing camera stabilization is very good. The color quality of the FF camera was also way better than the FF of the Galaxy S7. During the part when you are directly shooting the sun, the Lumia 950XL did better job in that part. The only thing I saw where the Galaxy is better is when you are shooting on the rocks or the pebbles on the ground and focusing. The contrast in Galaxy S7 looks better, but it is more clear with the Lumia 950XL.

Great video, S7 wins overall because of one major thing, focus speed. That was one issue I had with my 950 is the slowass focusing of the video, other than that the image quality was great but not excellent and while I think the Samsungs, 6 and the 7, are overboard on white balance, the clarity and the fast camera focus plus the better camera software clearly make it the winner.

I voted for the S7 Edge. It was a tossup until the part where the 950XL wouldn't focus when he was walking, 2:14 - 2:35. It showed additional focusing issues while still or moving slowly at 2:35 - 3:01.

I would the Lumia 950 XL if Outlook was half as good as gmail or if gmail could integrate better with Microsoft. I tried it and it's so archaic and inefficient when compared to using an Android device with gmail. Great Vid, BTW!

It's hard to say, because the crispness in some frames were better on the Lumia. I also like the image stabilization on the Lumia front facing camera. In some frames the galaxy were crisper, but overall it was shakier and I think better photos could be taken with the Lumia of the photographer is using a tripod or stable hand. I think the Galaxy is better for non front facing video footage, that front facing was awful :(. Nice comparison!

S7: Better Audio, clearer detail and much faster focusing speed. It is capable of shooting a slow-mo video at 240fps as well. 950 XL: Better white balance and stabilisation. I call it tie.

I'll pick out some things that I noticed. Keep in mind that I'm a tech lover, and will not just lean towards the gs7 just because I own one. The very first thing I noticed was that the 950 had superior stabilization, and at times, a wider angle. For some reason I noticed them switch once or twice. This could of been the focusing issue, that we seen in the video. The gs7, in my opinion had much better color. Maybe the gamma was higher? The 950's colors looked washed out. The wind resistant sound goes to the gs7 for sure. Also, as we saw in the video, so does the slow motion. It looks like Microsoft has just a little more steps to take before it can compete with android.

These phones actually do trade blows here and there. Samsung GS7 is an overall good video camera. The lumia 950 does some things pretty impressively but also seems to lack a little here and there. Both are good for a smart phone and you can't go wrong with either camera wise.

I like the colour production and the OIS of the Lumia. Just the auto focus is bad. The sound in front of the camera is recorded clearer than the rest, potentially dealing with unwanted noises in your video and enhancing a subject's voice. The Samsung GS7 colour production was a bit on the cooler side.

Better white balance from the Lumia, but we're splitting hairs. Do you want better white balance or a camera that can't focus like the 950 XL? Those shots in 1080p where it just couldn't focus for the life of it should tell you enough, the S7 Edge is the undisputed king of photography. The front facing stabilization was incredible though, never thought something could be so noticeable or desired but it does work.

Nokia Power User had this vid posted so I watched and voted for the L950 since I own it and can attest to it's superior camera stabilization, color pop and low light shooting quality. Have never owned a Samsung though have used friends Galaxy camera at events on occasion (well back in the day with feature phones - ok) and was surprised by how much the Galaxy's camera has improved, though IMO still falls short of the overall marks of the Purview tech. Just my 2 cents....

You should also do an audio recording test for subjects in front of the rear camera, since the Lumia uses its quad microphones to try and cancel out the sound from everywhere except the direction the camera is facing. Although I wish there was an option to disable it.

It's hard to believe that despite the S7 Edge was released later than the Lumia 950 XL, it didn't have iris scanner and USB Type-C. Heck, even the S7's camera flash is only a single LED, whereas the Lumia has a triple RGB LED flash. That shows how much the Lumia was ahead of its time. P.S Currently using a Lumia 950 XL as my daily driver, and it is not only the best Windows Phone yet, but also the best phone I ever owned since I left Android.

I just bought the S7 because I couldn't stand my Windows Phone anymore. I have a 640 XL. The S7 won by far. It has better focus, slow motion, details and overall quality. The only thing better about Lumia's camera was the stabilization and it gave you a more healthy look, even though you looked good on both cameras. And the S7 has a louder audio. Samsung won.

From what I've tried with my 950XL, I found that digital stabilization actually _decreases_ the stability. As for the focus; I've never seen any of the Lumia's I had before (520 and 830) do that, but I will admit that the Samsung wins on that one. The colours and sound reduction however are much better on the 950. Even the front cam was doing much better, even though the resolution was lower.

I noticed the color saturation on the Lumia was more than on the Samsung. However, for the most part, the Lumia over-saturated everything including the shots of your face. While you were running, with 1080p engaged, I noticed the Samsung did very little to stabilize the image while the Lumia did an excellent job. From the many people I speak to, I've noticed that the die-hards will always be loyal to whatever brand they love. The general populous of consumers will buy whatever hits their current fancy and is affordable. Although smartphone cameras have become very impressive, when I'm really out to shoot memorable images, I still use my DSLR. I only use the phone to GPS tag my excursions by taking one or two shots in each area I visit.

I own both phones. With the latest firmware updates the 950XL beats the shit out of the S7 in terms of camera quality (in all stages). Same goes to video. As everyone can see in the video the microphone is much better in the 950XL as well. But yes, with stock firm and no updates the S7 looks better simply because it's newer.

The S7 wins hands down. The 950XL is way too saturated and has an issue with properly focusing. At first stabilization on the XL was wining then it seemed the other way around towards the end. Overall, the S7 shredded the Lumina. Don't even get me started on how the Lumina struggled to capture your vocals.

Judging from this video, the S7 had a slightly clearer picture and focused much faster, but the 950 had the more natural lighting and colors. It's a wash, really. Depends on what you're looking for. I just ordered my 950xl and should have it by next week. I'll miss my Lumia 1020 (still the best camera out there for a phone), but the USB connecter is broken and its hardware isn't doing so well with Windows 10. It's become a pain in the ass to use for even the most simple of tasks.

I didn't see the poll. It was the L950XL for me. The 950XL was I think more color accurate plus its microphone was better. The S7 seems there is little to no noise cancellation. The front facing camera too of the L950XL was better. The S7 makes you so pale that you looked like a vampire under the sun. Video stabilization was really I think slight edge to 950XL. The only category the 950XL lost was slow-mo (subjective) and 1080 focusing. That's how I saw it.

I think the lumia did better, The video on the front and back were more stabilised than the galaxy. At 4k, the lumia had more detail than the galaxy as well. At 1080p, lumia was fishing for a spot to focus, this might be it's only downfall. Right before you took the zoom on the mountain, the lumia had more detail on the frozen river behind you that the galaxy.

Those Lumia colors are astonishing! ..stabilization is better as well.. *BUT* that focus problems are quite bad and I wouldn't sacrifice myself with Windows even if the camera was 10 times better.

nemanja milosevic Yes. Vibrant and red hues in bright sunlight with lots of snow reflecting white everywhere.... so natural. Take off the Nokia goggles
