Devil is in the details! Good points Helen For reference for others, I didnt not have such luck with the vito blazer or laura suede jacket. Im 5'4", full figured, cooler skin tone, and these coats were just too oversized and not drapey enough to compensate for that. I even sized down and they were not flattering. Love the paisley sweater on me. Eyeing the collin sweater. Love the sezanne skirt she mentions.

Very helpful tips, thank you. I am right on the verge of being a petite at 5 foot 4 inches, and I dress how I like, but it's always good to know how to achieve a certain effect. Some oversized things look ridiculous on me as do bulky knits.

I love that brown and cream Fair-Isle sweater. Those round necklines don’t suit me as well as more open, vertical ones do. But, like you, I have a long, slender neck for a petite, so they’re not awful on me, I’m debating, I don’t know if I can resist it, flattering or not. I try to wear flattering styles most of the time, but I don’t feel like every single outfit has to be the “most flattering”, i,e., make us look our tallest and thinnest, either. Sometimes I just love an item so much I have to have it anyway, this might be one of those. Plus, it meets my “natural-fiber only” requirement, which Petite Studio clothes often don’t do. I would buy more if they did. I completely disagree about “softer, rounder lines flattering petites”, I find the opposite, sharper, tailored, lines, suit me much better. I get the softness and femininity I crave from the soft fabrics I love, like silk and cashmere, instead.

Thank you so much for this! I was just binge-watching your older autumn/winter content to try and get some much needed inspiration, and then this popped up in my feed! I love how you always focus on proportions instead of just length or saying, no you can't wear that because you're petite 😂 I've been able to add some lovely pieces to my wardrobe based on your recommendations (Sezane Leontine, Petite Studios wool jacket, Ribcage jeans), and they really do work so well for my 5' frame! I so appreciate and look forward to your content, it's my favorite to sit down with a cup of tea and get some solid motivation to play with my wardrobe 🥰

Helen, as a fellow petite girl thanks for these videos - especially talking about what's flattering and not with the goal of needing to look taller! Would you consider doing a styling video with your new western boots? I sometimes find this difficult with the boot length and deceptive bulkiness (though I'm mindful not to get any boots that are too mid calf!).
@mellimoon77Ай бұрын
By the way I really strongly approve of your footwear choices - but I do notice that you underpronate with your feet, most especially your left foot. I don't know if this is just a thing that happens when you're in front of the camera or if it's an every day thing, but as somebody who walks a lot, if you're getting any pain at all that may possibly be a culprit. Sorry if this comes across as rude, commenting on something potentially quite personal - I don't mean to be, just mostly concerned you stay healthy and happy and pain free :)

Does anyone in the comments section know Australian Vloggers who make videos in our/southern hemisphere seasons?
@rocaswellАй бұрын
I wish, the other ones I follow all do this. Giving up. Its exhausting- but nice to hear other people hate it too!
@meg7578Ай бұрын
This is a good point. How does that work with styles? Fall is all about suede and burgundy. What happens with spring trends in the southern hemisphere? Are trends just delayed?
@AlannaLightheartАй бұрын
It can be so tricky as a creator, especially if most of your audience is in the states! I love to follow Helen because I'm in NZ and I know I have access to a lot of the brands she loves, even on the second hand market. If I need some Spring inspo I just look back at older videos from when the Northern hemisphere was having Spring 😂❤ they always hit the spot for me.
@froodoftheforestАй бұрын
@@meg7578 Honestly, it seems influencers choose to fall behind a season to stay relevant to US viewers. Seasons were delayed YEARS ago, but now as we have access to all the shows and fashion moves much faster - I just look at the Spring Summer shows that have just happened in recent weeks and find similar items I love to wear THIS season so I don't waste time investing in last season styles. But because our influencers cater to the US we get a lot of Fall guides and get told (like the commenter below) to look back 6 months to the bulk of their spring content. Except their recommendations are often already no longer for sale and it's just... old. It's cool though - I'm not an idiot, I get why they do it. It's an odd predicament to be in. We are undeniably on the forefront of fashion though. I'll be wearing some spring/summer styles that the US won't have the weather for for another 6 months, despite literally all influencers catering almost solely to northern hemisphere viewers.

Hi! I’m wondering where the drapey trench coat is from? ❤
@rlavelleSLPАй бұрын
I have a hot take. 5’3.5”- 5’4” is the AVERAGE height of women, with very few countries averaging above that. I love you, Helen, I always have, but you’re average height. True petite should be considered under 5’1” or 5’. You look great in most clothes you wear and can buy “average” sized clothes because you’re average height. It’s just that some companies make their “regular” clothes for tall or very tall women. It’s different for people under 5’ who just don’t look the same in “regular” clothes. ❤
@DailyHelenJАй бұрын
Not a hot take, I actually agree with you! :) However, in Australia, I would say I am definitely on the petite side though getting very close to average. The BIGGEST thing for me is that the clothing sold is designed for someone much taller than me. So sleeves, body, pant lengths are usually all WAY too long and wide. Also, I find bone structure wise, a lot of silhouettes to drown me, so it's also my structure and frame I'm referring to. I find the way I dress is also more aligned to someone petite, whereas clothing designed for average/taller frames and heights usually don't work for me. Overall, I think it's a spectrum where most of these ideas can be adjusted to suit someone's stature. E.g. the more petite you are, the more dainty details have to be whereas as you go into average height, things can scale proportionally. So hopefully it's still of help xx
@rlavelleSLPАй бұрын
@@DailyHelenJ Yes, I think the point that I was very poorly making is that companies need to design petite clothing for under 5’2”, or even under 5’0”, to truly fit petites, and not the typical “5’4” and under” sizing which is just designed for average size. It’s a bummer. Clothing designed for 5’4” doesn’t fit petites.
@meg7578Ай бұрын
Yes, I never had petite problems living in east Asia. No one was trying to be taller. Loose on top and bottom is quite popular, and other things that we think drown us in fabric in other countries.. But everyone was trying to be skinnier😢 but then I guess that makes you look taller.
@madelineoceanАй бұрын
yes, i agree! im 4'8.
@TheAlyconariaАй бұрын
@rlavelleSLP look into the Kibbe Body type system if you haven't. It defines under 5'3 as petite, however, there are very different sub types of petite. A petite "romantic" can't wear what a petite "gamine" does.
@KimberlyPerrotisАй бұрын
I hate oversized blazers, so I never bought one. I know you have many nice ones in your wardrobe and want to still wear them, of course, but I’ll only wear the classic-fit ones. I waited for years until the fitted ones came back, even though I really needed new blazers after losing 50 lbs., they’re a wardrobe staple for me. Now that more fitted, feminine ones are finally available, I’m buying blazers again, in 100% wool with breathable rayon linings. (I’m a petite, too and nothing oversized looks good on me).

Could you make a video about how to style tennis shoes for petites? NOT the fashion kind, the ones that actually support your feet and back, and are made for walking, or running. How to wear them with jeans? What style of jeans work best, what length? How to style the top half so you still look chic and put together. Thanks!

The thing is for my Southern hemisphere friends, all my Spring Summer content is already on my channel from just a few weeks back. I tend to repeat outfits often, so they're more or less exactly what I'm wearing now :) So if you go back a few weeks, you'll find over 10 videos dedicated to SS style. I would actually LOVE to follow Australian seasons too however most people who watch my channel are from US, Canada, Germany, Philippines, Indonesia so I just try to cater to as many people as I can though ofc it's not ideal to all. Always try to share more day to day looks on IG and that's more SS style.

Seriously, who cares if its a fake. I bought the real *yutulu* last year and frankly after inspecting it I wasnt THAT impressed with what I paid. And the prices go up every year. Is Chanel increasing quality on the bags? Whats the justification for the increase? Because its helps with the hype. Its a marketing scheme. The more scarce they can make it the more people want it. Theres nothing wrong with this fake. I mean just because the chains dont jingle right LOL.
