Times of true photography is a thing of the past....understanding lighting ratio, colour temperature, aperture/speed & film sensitivity (EV). Nowadays, photo editing takes precedence over full manipulation of the camera.

Jake, excellent presentation... in example 1, this method to blur the background did not work for me on a Portrait Photo to blur the background. Once I followed your steps, the entire photo went "BLUR"...( out of focus ) in step No. 2. The motor Bicycle worked for me .. the Photo of the individual was in focus and the background was blurred. Thought you wanted to know.. great lesson Manfred in South Florida......

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Manfred. The reason why you see two layers in the first example is that I duplicated the layer and removed the background on the top layer. I will create a tutorial soon to show you how to do that.

Hi ~Am amazed to watch this video with Blur tools in Luminar Neo. I believe I am using the latest version of Luminar Neo but there is no Blur on mY version Of Luminar Neo. Please can you help me on how to get this tool in my Neo version which Skylum claims it is the Latest version.

Jakub... I just remembered, in example No. 1.. under Layers on the top left of the screen I did not get the background Photo that you clicked on....thought you wanted to know... Manfred

The motion blur options appears to still be bluring the bike at the edges ? In photoshop you need to create a separate layer of the background and removing the bike then filling with similar background to avoid this happening. I need to have a play around with Neo to see if this can be replicated with the bike in one layer and the background in another layer in theory it should be possible with the clone tool

My Luminar Neo does not have the Blur feature. Why is that?

click on more in the description. The Blur tool is set to arrive at the end of August 2023. If it's not visible in your application, keep an eye out for upcoming updates.
