Living in Silicon Valley, it's nice to see that great software can come from other places around the globe. To me it says we truly are a global economy… if only the politicians could catch up to the world as it truly is today. I'm hoping Skylum can weather this tragic storm they're in and come out safely on the other side of it.

Thank you for the great video. I keep forgetting about those tools and this inspired me to go open a few of my favorite photos and tweak them a little more. They work beautifully. I'm awaiting your video on how to add a watermark in Neo. I didn't think it was possible in Luminar 4, then you did it with an image layer. It wasn't doable in Ai, then you did it through local masking with an overlay. Now here we are with Neo and I need you to lead the way again!
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
Thanks much Dan and for a watermark I would make it in Powerpoint/Keynote then overlay it in the Layers tool, which is basically a texture overlay. You would have to experiment with blend modes to get it right. Let me take a look at that one. Thanks.

Today, II will try a complete Luminar plugin only workflow vs my current workflow. My current workflow consists of Topaz Denoise AI, Lightroom, Photoshop, Luminar AI, Camera Raw and Topaz Sharpen AI. Much quicker than it sounds. :-) I also may throw in Nik Color Efex Pro or Nil Silver Efex Pro. These Neo tutorials definitely helped and may revisit as I do this.

Thanks once again for this refresher on the Professional Tools. I've not really used these but your video gives very some helpful instruction. Recently received an email from Skylum about what to expect in the first real update. However, clearly they are in a very precariuos position in the Ukraine and there safety is number 1. We wish them all the best and hope they stay safe.

Great video Jim. While I would guess within reason we all understand highlights, mid tones & shadows, short of simply pushing sliders to determine what the software considers highlights, mid tones & shadows, is there a method to see what the system considers in each of those categories. Assumably not or you would have shown it, but I thought I’d ask. Maybe it’s not a big deal, like it’s tough just to see the effect. Again great video & example of use.
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
Hi William and thanks. I guess you could mess around in Develop, or with Curves, to see what these 3 are being defined as. But yeah I just usually do what I did here - move things around, see what changes, and use that as my basis for adjusting to my tastes. Thank you for watching!

Very useful analysis, Jim. Plenty of options. It's good to see what the various settings do. If working on individual photos, presumably reflections etc can be done in Luminar AI, saved and then worked on in Luminar Neo 1.0.2? I look forwards to more videos on Neo. Regards, JB.
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
Hi JB and thanks for watching. You can for sure edit in AI, save it and export, then edit in Neo (but your masks etc do not come over). But you could work on reflections in Neo just as you could in AI, so unless you are in AI for something else, you could just use Neo in this case. Thanks.
@JoeB_BSc2 жыл бұрын
@Jim Nix Thanks for you reply. It will be most helpful if you consider showing how reflections can be achieved in Luminar Neo 1.0.2; perhaps one similar to the river scene that you had both reflections and bank shadows or a similar one. Your commentaries are always erudite yet easy to follow. Regards, JB
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeB_BSc maybe I misunderstood, but in Neo the sky replacement and reflections is the same as it is in AI. Are you referring to a different feature? Or you just mean how to get the most out of them and make them look good?

Thanks. this was helpful.... I know that NEO and AI can both use dual monitors, but I cannot figure out how to set it up. Any help?
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. So I am not sure about dual monitors. Are you wanting the app to show on both? Or something else? I have a Macbook Pro and also an external monitor. When I open Neo, I just drag the app to the external monitor and use it there. But I don't think this is what you are asking. Can you clarify?

Crazy times. Just read that Skylum programers are mainly based in Kiev and that they have understandably stopped development for future upgrades because of the circumstances. Hello Jim, great video again!! Thanks. In the beginning of this video you mention, shortly, your lens distortion edit. I have big problem in Neo in restoring lens distortion. In Luminar 4 i could restore this easily. But not in Neo. Each time I start with a raw-file i get 4 round black corners and i can't remove these. Do you have any advice. Thanks a lot!
@JimNix2 жыл бұрын
Hi Geert and I would guess that Luminar Neo does not recognize your lens (no lens profile in Neo for it). Just a guess though. You can go into Develop and under Optics try "Auto Distortion Corrections", or move the Lens Distortion slider. You can also try moving the Devignette slider. Between those, that ought to fix it. Thanks.
