Luminous Reaction: We FINALLY saw Epcot's new fireworks show "Luminous" and we have some thoughts...

What was supposed to be a brief review of the new Epcot nighttime show "Luminous" during an Epcot vlog, quickly turned into a separate reaction video. Yes, we had some THOUGHTS on this new show, and replacement for "Harmonious". We discuss everything from the infamous Epcot barges, to viewing spots, show design, audience reaction and more. I'll get to see Luminous next month. My family liked earlier versions of Illuminations, when they used to highlight each country, and didn't care for Reflections of Earth. The music for Harmonious was great, but the barges were an eyesore. It was too bad that you had to be in specific spots to see a lot of the show. I didn't see Epcot Forever, but my adult daughter did and she loved it. I agree that they should bring back the Harmonious music with the current barge situation. As far as waiting for the bridge, we used to know what time they were raising it to bring out the Illuminations barges and approximately how long it would take and could plan our route around that.

My husband and I saw Luminous in December, and it just fell flat to us. We have no plans to watch it again. We loved Harmonious so much. I'd rather sit in the new garden area and listen to the music.

Yes! I may not be that into Luminous, but I'm actually fairly positive on my view of the new center courtyard area (formerly the fountain). It's a bit dull in the daytime, but it's FANTASTIC at night with the lights that coordinate with the lights on Spaceship Earth!

Thank you for your full analysis and expressions on Luminious both prior seeing it in person to first time physically in person! Here's my conclusion Illumination's ROE and Epcot Forever were truly Epcot shows along with the style of fireworks they had. Both of these are nostalgic meaning you never would EVER get tired how many times you hear the music score. Harmonious was great but as a passholder hearing it over and over especially the Princess and the Frog segment was like a repeated concert over and over again. Is Harmonious music better than Luminous yes everyone would be dancing on their feet, it's the most energetic show out of the four. I miss it now honestly the soundtrack was a piece of work. Luminous and Harmonious aren't nostalgic, they both took time to really grow with the music but Luminous is the worst at that it took me a month before liking the Beating of our Hearts ... The narration on Luminous is too much... I can't judge the fireworks yet but my mom says it's Magic Kingdom.

I love the Narration is the same thing as the River of Light and magic kingdom and Epcot Forever

I think it’s the best Epcot show! Been going since 1992. BUT… it is not a show that gets to you the first time you see it. When you can understand the entire narration and musical lyrics, then couple with the water and fire works, it’s magical. Oh, I know exactly what you’re referring to re people talking through the show! Ugh!

I, like you, am DEVASTATED they got rid of harmonious. That is my favourite Epcot show ever. I had little hope for Luminous and your review solidifies that 😢 thanks for sharing, from a fellow Harmonious super fan!

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. As a music educator, I had hoped that the "Symphony of US" would have a better, more engaging score. I also really miss the world music elements of Harmonious. Oh well, you can't win 'em all! I guess we'll eat more snacks and ride more rides in the evenings at Epcot.

If it makes you feel any better, we were standing right next to a speaker and we still couldn’t understand the narration. The overall tone and vibe was so slow. It’s definitely not for us. I’d go as far to say even if we’re staying on crescent lake I don’t think we’d bother walking in to see it. If the barges were the issue I wish they would bring the harmonious soundtrack back with the movable ones.

Phantom is my favorite musical ever. Epcot Forever was trash, saw it on it's day and never again. Harmonious wasn't Illuminations, nothing will be Illuminations. Luminous is ok. It is neither Illuminations or Phantom. He would not approve....

We loved Illuminations! Our family listens to the Illuminations soundtrack fairly often. But we also loved Harmonious and hated to see it have such a short run. Epcot Forever was just filler, but at least it was fun. Thanks for watching!

@darien5712 Entrashment went away for a reason. That was a horrible show too. Those two shows were just bad. At least Epcot Forever was a placeholder and not meant to be the main draw for the 50th Anniversary.

One can not like Epcot Forever and all and shout it's gone on a placement show but what's The Reality Is Illumination's and Harmonious are the one's gone to be gone and Luminous is it's replacement.
