I picked up the S5IIX from B&H yesterday with the 20-60mm for $2,197, plus only an extra $50 for the Lumix 50mm f/1.8. Not a bad deal at all.

Looks awesome but for most of us that don’t want or can’t afford to switch lens systems it just doesn’t make sense. I have over a dozen native M4/3 lenses not including some metabones adapted canon mount class. I’d love to see a G9 review. I have 2 GH5II’s, an OMD E-M1III and 2 GH4’s so it’s M4/3 for me. Keep em coming Nigel, great content.

I bought an "open box excellent" S5IIX with the 20-60 kit lens from Best Buy for $1834. The pictures it takes out of the box are incredible. The 6K 30 full frame video is top shelf for sure. I just ordered "used, like new" 70-300 F4.5-5 6 and 70-200 F4 Lumix zoom lenses from Amazon Warehouse for around $800 each. Can't wait to try them out and then decide which one to keep.

great video. I am using the s5ii since some weeks and I love it as well. Can you tell us what ibis modes you are using? I am doing lots of run and gun shooting and I am still not sure whether to film with e-stabilization on or off... What do you think about it and in what context are you using e-stabi or not? (not talking about boost)

Thanks Nigel! The S5 II X is fantastic! However, there are just a couple of things that kept me from upgrading to the S5 II X. Firstly, the S1 I have is a beautiful camera, and the upgrade from S1 to S5 IIX didn't seem worth it just for the AF. It already offers most of the features I would have liked in the S5 II X. Secondly, the lack of CF Express Type B slot in the S5 II X is a deal breaker for me. I really don't want to rely on a SSD hanging off a cable to record Prores. On a professional shoot I like to keep risk areas to a minimum, and an internal CFE card would have saved that one extra attachment and potential point of failure. I guess the S1H II might have those issues solved, let's see. I'm still hoping they can squeeze in some form of ND into that camera when it comes out, keeping the tilty flippy screen from the OG S1H and the CFExpress from the S1

I definitely think its the best bang for your buck. I went with the FX30 at a slightly lower price point. Though after buying a lens and speedbooster I almost spent the same amount. I guess the advantage with the FX30 is better high speed modes. At the expense of a smaller sensor.

i just switched from the xt4 to the s5ii and it's been great for my needs. video AF is more reliable and smoother in my experience and full frame + dual native iso were also things i had been needing. i did consider the xh2s for a bit but the features i mentioned are what pointed me to pick the s5ii (xh2s might have better AF than xt4 but not quite as good as s5ii, also still apsc and no dual native iso) and so far i don't regret it. really just depends on what ur needs r and ofc how much you've invested in the fuji syst already (i will admit switching syst was a bit more of a pain in the ass than i anticipated)
@NigelBarros Жыл бұрын
I love fuji cameras but I think for my money the Lumix system is better, larger sensor, better AF and a more recognized log profile. I wish Panasonic would make cameras like fuji does though, the lower priced companion cameras like the s-20 and XT-30, something I could have as a B-cam that uses the same mount as my S5IIX
@amermeleitor Жыл бұрын
@@NigelBarrosIt could be the death sentence for M4/3 system. But I agree, an L mount small sensor cheaper cameras would be great. Sigma have great lenses for APSC. Panasonic could use APSC or M4/3 sensor and the L mount

Nice video great that you are keeping the camera...as a Lumix big fan still owning 2 GH5,Gh5s and 3 S5 org...can't wait a slight price drop to sub 2K territory where I could justify the buy...bit nowdays still rocking on the S5 org Ninja V,Videoassist combo which is great...and P6K with 24-105 F4 is USM as a run and gun setup I got the best result with it somehow 😂😂😂
@JonAyabe Жыл бұрын
depending on your needs, you can pick up an s5ii for under 2k. I just picked up mine for 1600. ofc you'd have to pay an extra 200 for a paid firmware upgrade to get those extra recording options but if you don't need them, could be a good route to look into.
@NigelBarros Жыл бұрын
Yeah I get that, I still want to have a MFT camera in my kit just for the size factor, maybe a GH5 and 15mm f1.7 could be a good travel camera for me. I definitely see this camera dropping in price in a few months too, even more so when the new S1H gets released

How does the stabilization compare to the gh5? Im seriously on the fence would like to have the better low light performance but the stability of the new gh6 / or the g9ii looks very appealing plus I have a bunch of great mft lenses. I would love to see a real word stabilization comparison...
@LasseFrisk Жыл бұрын
I just switched from the GH5 to the S52X, and I'm super happy with it! have kept my GH5 as a B camera, partly because, like you, I have many lenses for it - and it will take some time before I have as many that fit the S line. But I'm very happy with the change, when I use the S52X, I get the same feeling as when I first used my GH5 - but now in the full frame version. PT I only have a 20-60 kit lens, so have not yet had the full experience of how well it stabilizes
@Wildridefilms Жыл бұрын
Stabilization on the S5IIX will be on par or atleast close to the GH6. The G9ii on the other hand will outperform both, especially at the ultrawide end, where it correct for the wobble, with electronic stabilization.
@ryszardzokowski812 Жыл бұрын
Stabilisation on S5ii is mich better than GH5 and even GH6 or S1H. I used all of them, and S5 II win in this category. Its so good, and i stop taking gimbal with me on for any kind of shots - wedding or music videos
@NigelBarros Жыл бұрын
well the Gh5 will be better at IBIS because the sensor is smaller and it can float around the body more, but I'd say the IBIS is better than my Olympus E-m1 II. still got a little warpyness going on the edges but great if you're not pushing it to its limits
@ryszardzokowski812 Жыл бұрын
@@NigelBarros S5II is better than gh5 in terms of ibis even if its full frame, and even slightly better than newer GH6. S1H is good compromise its stabilisation is little weaker but weight compensate it. With wider lenses like 18-20 mm its hard to notice any woobleness.
