It's funny because at first I thought it was a stupid move by Panasonic to release a crippled camera that didn't have EVF and mechanical shutter. It didn't even have hotshoe lol. It's a colorful toy camera with a lot of gimmicks. After watching a few videos about S9 true capabilities, I realized that this camera was the answer --I always wanted a small camera that can record 10bit, open gate video and have good IBIS. I even sold my serious camera (GH5) to fund the toycam. Now I have a cute, crimson red S9 with Sigma 45mm. What a twist. And I love it.

HAHA this is the best and more true comment I have ever seen. Honestly it takes a solid minute to adjust to the viewfinder, and adjusting the shutter. But once you got it nailed down, this camera is so much more fun to use imo

That’s my same setup and I love it. Even for what I use it, I know I don’t get the most out of it. I’m waiting for the 18-40 - that’s the only drawback. Few small AF lenses. But the 45mm is amazing!
@markshirley012 күн бұрын
@@UniquelyMarythe 18-40 and the 45 are the lenses I'd choose for the S9. I currently use a A7R5 with a 20-40 and shoot entirely vertical for social media accounts. I'd love to see how the S9 could work for this type of work. The IBIS is the big thing for me. I get around shake by filming in 50 and 100 so I can slow down the footage.

I don’t know why lumix doesn’t throw the g9II sensor or gh7 in a small body like the G100 with open gate 4k120 (with a time limit). Good ibis and 10 bit. I feel like they could take over the compact market pretty easily. Especially if they kept it around 1k like the ZVe10

Because it had to be as expensive as g9 and gh7 to make profit an customers dont want to pay this kind of money for a small camera

@@castielvargastv7931 people buy the zve10 which has the same sensor as the fx30 which is 800 more bucks they just strip features. And the g9ii has been on sale since it came out. Which Panasonic has to help with some of those sales from retailers. I've seen it new for 1300 bucks body only. I feel like they could make it happen. And when they released the Gx9 it had the same sensor as the g9 which was their flagship at the time

The comparison between these 2 cameras is kind of...stupid? The Sony is 2/3 the price, the lenses are also cheaper, so if you want to get into video it is a much easier choice, compares to the Lumix S9. Comparing the S9 to the A6700 on the other hand would be a better choice, and then you see how weird the S9 is.
@seanbrucemedia56954 күн бұрын

I love my S9. It's definitely requiring some adjustment to adapt to its missing elements compared to my S5ii. I disagree seriously with Josh's opinion that Lumix doesn't need to release a new flagship photo focused FF camera. In terms of quality the S5ii(x) does yield very nice, high quality photos BUT it is not a high performance camera, so nowhere near ideal for fast action sports with low mechanical fps speed and slow sensor readout, nor a high rez camera (outside of the limited hi rez photo modes). No Lumix camera currently does off camera flash bursts either. These are just a few things that are addressed in other brands' photo focused cameras, and have been for quite some years which currently Lumix still offers no solution for, despite us their photographer customers asking specifically for them. I've purchased 6 Lumix cameras starting with the GH4 when it debuted (I was heavy into video which was why I chose Lumix). I feel like Lumix needs to release whatever product they have intended to be the S1(r) successor in the very near future or at least officially 'announce' it with an ETA or their photographer customers like me who have purchased the same camera (S5, S5ii, S9) 3 times from them just may finally move away to address their premium level photo camera needs.

I think alot of the backlash from the s9 at least from the lumix/m43 perspective (i use a g7) is the lack of a compact photography focus hybrid camera. Mind you alot of rumors were pointing towards a ff gx8. But we gots lumix's version of a zve1. Which is awesome still! But there is a feeling of being ignored. The last gx was released nearly 6 years ago and isnt sold anymore. I understand Panasonic is more focusing on video. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for investing into lumix ecosystem for photography.

Sony bias is real, no doubt. But when talking about the different reactions for E10ii and S9 price was seemingly not brought up. The trade offs for the E10ii are more stomach-able when the S9 cost 1.5x as much. The S9 came out at a price that was more than I got the S5ii used at that same time. Price is a real concern, and it's the reason that I went S5ii over saving up an extra 1k for A7iv or 2k for Fx3. For that same reason when I'm looking at a second smaller travel camera, I'm still eying up the cheaper E10ii over the S9, especially when considering smaller lenses to pair for less money.

12:49 can you shoot 1080p 50 or 100fps in open-gate. I shoot 100% vertical these days for social media accounts. If it can't I don't see the point of the feature as I need to have the security of slow motion as a backup.
@MatthewDangyou2 күн бұрын
If you are talking about the 4:3 60fps in 3.3K that is actually 16:9 cropped into a 4:3 which is anamorphic support and not actually an open gate on Lumix full frame, and it is an APSC crop too on top of that. Then for full frame 1080 are all 16:9 formats, and there are also no open gate settings in 1080 unless you mean it doesn't have the APSC crop

@@MatthewDangyou thanks - it doesn't look like open gate would be much use to me shooting vertical in slowmo. But no brand seems to do open gate in slowmo so not the end of the world. I actually like to see how my image looks framed in portrait anyway
