Lumpiang Shanghai is a staple in Pinoy celebrations! But with this recipe, you can easily cook it whenever you crave it! Don’t forget your to serve with your favorite sawsawan!
Serves 7 to 8.
INGREDIENTS:
Set A:
1/2 kilogram ground pork (with at least 20% fat for a juicier spring roll)
2 tablespoons oyster Sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 piece onion, minced
2 eggs
1/4 cup flour
1 piece carrot, grated
A handful of kinchay or spring onions, chopped
Set B:
24-30 pieces medium lumpia wrappers
4 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup water
Set C:
3-4 cups cooking oil, for frying

Hello, Chef! Nakatatlong batch na ako ng lumpiang shanghai using your recipe! Hit na hit sa mga kapwa Pinoy at non-Pinoy co-workers ko dito sa Vancouver, BC, Canada. Hirap ako maghanap ng Kin-tsai so yung first two batches, curly parsley ginamit ko pero nasarap din sya. This time, nakabili ako ng Kin-tsai so gawa uli ako ngayon. Thank you, Chef! Idol na talaga kita, chef. Ilang years na akong sa food business pero marami akong natututunan sayo. Wala ka masyadong pa-ekek. Talagang SIMPOL!

True! Simple (simpol) lang pero lagi talaga akong may natututunan since pandemic. Simpleng trivia or techniques lang pero they make sense. May scientific explanation. Yan ang tunay na chef. Hindi yung basta lahok, gisa, halo lang na hindi alam yung nangyayari sa niluluto kung pantay ba ang pagkakaluto.

Chef, I made this tonight and it's so yummy! My husband is allergic to shrimp so I'm glad your recipe doesn't call for it. One thing though, the flour-water "glue" was too much. I think I used only 1/4 of it. Still, thanks for this recipe!

Hi Chef Tatung I've been following all your videos because you inspire me to learn to cook. You make your dishes with simpol recipes and processes. You also give tips and tricks which are very helpful. I am 57 years old, a father to 3 children whom I also beginning to slowly teach how to cook using your simpol recipes. I can say that they are enjoying cooking which is one of our family bonding activity during this Pandemic. I wanted to buy your Simpol Cookbook but unfortunately it was all sold out. Thank you Chef, suggest ko po to add 1-2 tbsp Sesame oil (for 1 kilo ground meat). Sarap!

Hello there! I tried your recipe and I LOVE IT!! I just have a question: Even though they taste amazing there was an issue while frying, What can I do so my rolls don’t crack while frying them?… I used the small wrappers and closed both ends and while frying out of nowhere they cracked (lengthwise). I will be super grateful if anyone can help me out with some tips to have the perfect lumpia, thank you and blessings
