Toobou really is just the goat of Sunshine Any%. I actually learned of Toobou from the video by average trey and occasionally watched his atempts in May. In Early June I watched him get the world record back and the first 1:12 live. Both of the runs were legendary.I can’t wait to see what he does in the future.

I think the thing that sucks about speed runs reaching the human limit is that it is so hard to become an actual top tier speed runner, albeit with a lot of time and dedication, will it really be worth it, wouldn't it be better to speed run a different game that are constantly getting new discoveries, or maybe join a community to grow and learn with them, I dunno, but that would be a great topic to talk about, but that is how i feel about those speed runs,. Nonetheless the speed runners are amazing.

I know what you mean, but I think if you're going into speed running with comparisons of your own performance to the WR, you're doomed. Imo, if you speed run any game, improvement and lowering your PB alone should be enough for you to enjoy yourself and be fulfilled. If that happens to take you close to the WR, that's amazing, but setting the goal of being a WR competitor off the bat will wear you down and burn you out. Also, you can realistically become a top 0.1% of players in a game by self improvement alone, which I think is enough to call yourself "top tier". It's easy to compare yourself to the best, but that shouldn't dictate how you enjoy and improve at the game. You should play the games that you enjoy, even if other people are really stupid good at it!

@@mricci07 Technically speaking, SMS is popular, it has a shit ton of runs. There are much better examples of games that were genuinely unpopular in their early days. As for paper mario, it's an RPG and most runners accept stuff like cutscenes and text and whatnot. But for a platformer, you don't really want that.

I'm not *entirely* convinced 1:11 is never gonna happen (purely because a human has a 1:10 sum of best) but if it does it wont be for a *looooooooooooong* time. It's one of those things that, if it does happen, it'll be as people gradually chip off seconds at a time as years go by. Regardless, this is insane. Toobou is truly the GOAT. Though honestly, even if the other runners mentioned didn't actually get the 1:12 first, I think they are all insane in their own ways and are pretty equal, even if they weren't *officially* the ones to break the barrier first.

What might be the last minute barrier broken without TAS? Nah, I don't agree with that. It'll take time, but 1:11 will be done. And with enough dedication, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that there'll one day be a speedrun so perfectly played that we break the 1:10 barrier. I think that's gonna be the true end of the road, barring any insane wrong warp or ACE discoveries

Sunshine will always be my favourite speed game. I remember hanging around TTV way back when I was definitely too young to be on the platform, watching people like Samura1man damn near every day. I'd never gatekeep a community, but a part of me will always miss the magical feeling of such a comparatively small and niche community. Especially because it felt so much crazier when huge skips were found, like Gelato skip.
