Thanks very much for sharing Steve. I have all the wood, paint, deck screws, and Sea Dek material. Ready to assemble as I wait for my TT to be delivered. Just came back to your video to verify the measurements. To each their own, but I like yours better than the full deck, and better than the split casting deck we have seen in other videos. Gerry, I know we all appreciate you sharing your channel with others that have something to contribute.

Thanks Gerry: funny thing is I just built the same thing for my Troller over the weekend. Had that in mind while I was waiting to get my troller after I ordered it, and actually building a second one as well....I also thought it was a no-brainer because of how the troller is set up it's like it built for it, with no drawbacks because you can use them as small tables, foot rests for different positioning, and storage underneath them. Thanks again.

Ted, great minds think alike. You and Steve came up with a great idea that I never thought of. Owners have repeatedly surprised me with the ingenious ways they use their Twin Trollers and I suspect there are other great ideas we have not yet heard about from other owners. If you have other ideas, send me your pictures and a story or just pictures of your fish and I will post them in a mailbag video like this. Send your pictures to: TwinTrollerPicture@gmail.com Gerry

Howabouthetruth Hey Steve; I used 2-3/4 inch pieces of plywood glued and screwed together and covered with the same carpet I covered my floor with. My main deck is 24" fits inside the track but still allows the seats to slide and makes it about even with the top, but what's also nice about it is when you pick it up and rotate it, it can lay flat on the bottom of the boat floor and is hardly noticed if you don't want to use it. I made a 2nd one like yours that goes on top as well, but haven't tested either of them out on the water yet, but they look fantastic, are solid and don't move at all. Nice job on it.

Hi Russell. Gerry has a quick video of a few pics I sent him when I was working on my Troller in the fall. I just used some carpet I had left over that was installed in my house.... it's very expensive plush carpet and feels great on the feet just like I had in my previous inflatable boat, but nothing special. My wife will be fishing with me quite a bit and she likes the feel of carpet.

@@LunkerFishing 😀 I used Steve's design but could not use his measurements. All the measurements were off on my TT. I had to go with 28- 1/4" wide with the 2x8 cuts. That's really odd but 29-1/4" is too long and would overlap the fishing pole trays on me. I am not going with the SeaDek...that stuff is expensive!!

Hey guys! Within the last 2 weeks, i have recieved the cover and the livewell! 😁 I got them during the holiday discount sale! I got the livewell because i want to fish some local tournaments in my area. Not in hurry for the boat. Where i am in Michigan, about 35 minutes north of Detroit, the lakes have a lid on them....ice. I will order the boat around the beginning of March. No way could I order it now and have it sit for 3 months. I would have to bring it in the house! I think it would be a great bed to sleep in! It could also be a great little place to eat, if i put a tv tray between the 2 seats! lol! Talk about being versatile! 😁 It could be the ultimate man cave addition! My plan is to acquire the accessories i want now, since i have a few months before ordering the boat. I appreciate you guys sharing all that you have done to your TTX10s! Looking forward to becoming an owner!

@@howabouthetruth2157 Thanks a ton for the advice! I appreciate that! Having back-ups/spares based on what you have on your TTX10, is a good idea! The livewell from Freedom Electric Marine, is designed with form and function. Well worth the price! 😁

Absolutely awesome idea!I've been considering the twin troller for some time now! Most all the lakes and ponds around me really don't need a big motor,so my only question to anyone who owns one are the motors that are built in strong enough or should I atleast maybe add a small electric troller motor outboard style?
@jamesleary1405
@jamesleary1405 6 жыл бұрын
@@howabouthetruth2157 Thanks for the quick reply! I've always been a bank fisherman unless on a buddies boat. But since I've moved a few years back most my options now require some sort of small boat! And most the ponds and lakes don't allow gas power motors. I'm not 100% sure knowledge wise about marine batteries and all of this but I'm a diehard bass fishermen ad have been for over 27 years now! And with most these ponds they are very huge like merli sarnoski park it's a vairly small pond electric motor only! But since I began fishing it this past summer from the only dock your allowed it's way over fished and I've seen guys on boats catching 7 and up to 8lb largies in spots I see and wish I could reach! I've been checking the twin troller out for a long time now I've seen many many videos but I'm sure I'm going to have more questions. Like I'm moving closer to a lake the end of this month now it's a bit larger then the other pond and much wider but it's the kinda lake I would mostly fish close to shore around the over hangs and docks so I most likely wouldn't really shoot straight across it! But more just work my way from launch all the way around and back or half way and back because it is a bigger lake that was why I was considering putting another troller motor off the back as a back up in case the built ins couldn't handle it since gas motors aren't allowed but yes I would want to have as much battery as I can so attaching the 2 together would be a great idea not something I've ever actually done myself but I'm also pretty handy and a quick learner so I'm sure with your instructions I could figure it!! But for all the places arou me which is like 4 lakes 1 pond and I believe only one allows gas motors. So besides the built ins can I purchase something that's also outboard but electric with more power just for the larger lakes that don't allow gas?
@jamesleary1405
@jamesleary1405 6 жыл бұрын
@@howabouthetruth2157 Okay my concerns aren't about speed that don't matter so much! It's more just getting from A to B safely and efficiently on just the built in motors that's why I was wondering about just a simple basic out board minn kota just as back up! Do they make anything like some kinda guages to test or see how much battery life you have throughout your day of fishing see myself I would mainly craw around the shire lines and such and the drop offs other then that I'm not looking to be flying around the lake! I just don't have any experience or knowledge being I never took the leap and boat any boats in all my years so it would be my first and a learning experience also! Thank you for all your kindness in answering my questions it's much appreciated oh and also can this little boat be easily loaded from say like a land point that's shallow to the water that doesn't have a a boat ramp and if you don't have the ability to tow it can it be easily moved other ways like the lake near my new house doesn't exactly have a ramp but yet people are allowed to boat in it I've seen Jon boats and such in it with electric motors so the twin troller would be perfect but how would the ease of just pulling it down a small road and lowering it off the bank in be?
@jamesleary1405
@jamesleary1405 6 жыл бұрын
@@howabouthetruth2157 Okay all great to know thank you very much! I'm feeling much better now then I was before about making the leap to buy one I feel it would be the best solution for me in my lakes and ponds around me. Yeah it's currently the same time I have insomnia some nights so I get to watching KZbin videos on things I'm interested in making the leap to buy and you seemed knowledgeable with the tt. So I dropped my questions! You have a great day and ty again for everything
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
James, it sounds like durability of the trolling motors is your concern and not speed. I have yet to hear anyone say they have had trouble with the motors and as Steve from Melbourne has said, replacement motors are readily available and easy to install. They come from Motor Guide, one of the largest trolling motor companies, and not some Chinese knock off that you cannot find replacements for. There is a video from Freedom Electric Marine showing their Quick Lift Dolly for launching where there is no boat launch. I wonder about using plywood (maybe 2 layers glued and screwed together) for the deck so there won't be that gap in the middle? Plywood is relatively stable and doesn't expand/contract with moisture. Also, how about spraying the deck surface with with something like pick-up bed liner coating or rubberized undercoating?

@dakotafisher6874 6 жыл бұрын
Steve, I sincerely apologize for "offending" you so much on your "perfect" design of your casting deck. I did not mean to be so "critical" of your plan. But may I offer an explanation? The main reason I suggested plywood is that I have plenty of scrap laying around my wood shop. So I wouldn't be spending "all that extra money". I certainly wouldn't go out and buy a full sheet just to build a casting deck. Two pieces of 3/4" plywood of the same size of your deck certainly do weigh more than your 2, 2x8s----12 lbs as opposed to your 11 lbs.! As far as flexibility, The SAGULATOR on Google shows the same flex for your deck as for 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood laminated together (0.03" total with a central load). I do understand the scenario of falling through roof decking. But the 7/16th inch OSB used for most sheathing is not comparable to what I am suggesting at all. No disrespect meant here either but I am just suggesting that material that one may have at hand can possibly work just as well. Just saying......

Question: I built my platform using the 1 5/8 inset for my 1x4 from the end of the 2x8, but have a 1/2" play in the horizontal movement (which seems excessive). Can I bend the Sea Dek over the end of the 2x8 on each side to reduce the play? I've never used Sea Dek and haven't ordered it yet, so I don't know how flexible it is. Do I really want to reduce the 1/2" play? Also, I couldn't understand you when you said what type of material to use under the edge of the2x8 to reduce movement. Would appreciate your help. John

@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Charles, If you look at pictures and videos of the Twin Troller where you can see the floor of the boat you will see slots formed in the deck. They hold the pedals in place. There are many slots, even several in the center area of the boat so the pedals can be passed under the front seat and the person in the back can operate the TT. Since the pedals, inanition give you propulsion, they also make you steer so you can do that from the back of the TT too. The versatility of this boat is extensive. Gerry

@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Ronnie, The Pond Prowler is a nice boat for a year possibly two but would deteriorate after then. I have seen them for sale used and they do not hold up well at all. You get what you pay for. The TT can remain in the sun and hold up because of the materials it is made with. The design of the TT is made for comfortable fishing and is well thought out with longevity in mind. The Prowler tries to plow through the weeds and Lilly pads and logs while the TT climbs over them like it has 4WD. Send some pictures of your fish or boat and a story about you and your TT. I am sure others would be interested in seeing and hearing from a seasoned owner like you. Rodney, Many boats are designed with a raised casting deck to aid in fishing, especially sight fishing. It depends on where you are fishing and what techniques you like to use when fishing. I have not built one of Steve's casting decks yet but I may do that. I am not as stable on my feet as I was when I was younger so I am still pondering if it is a fit for me.
