Nice bass Cal. Nice looking lures and talking the different types and weights. That helps some new fisherman trying to get into the sport.

Great video Carl ! Good content, explanation and the footage is very as well! One little tip it’s always good to have the same colour lures in different sizes. Most times fish get a bit shy if the lure is too big. But having the same colour lure but smaller should have done the trick! From a subscriber point of view, doesn’t matter size ! We want fish bending the rod tip! Keep on with the videos and all the best!

Thanks. Yeah it’s good to have a few lures in different sizes in the same colour. Unfortunately I didn’t this time. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼🎣

Nice one Cal, as usual. Was good to see the second bass take it, well captured. Personally, small stuff here too, 50cm yesterday so going up at least. Off the surface small ones will do while we wait for bigger. Good luck buddy.
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 жыл бұрын
Cheers. Yeah the small ones still provide a good bit of fun, especially on the surface lures 🤙🏼 Hopefully something bigger shows up soon.

Good start soaked feet 😂 nice bass Cal pity just a small one even the birds are getting the fish didn't realize they Go blind 👍👍

Cheers Barrie. Yeah it’s interesting. Apparently they go blind from diving so much, therefore they’re unable to feed properly afterwards. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Hi cal do you use a leader at all or do just use straight braid when topwater fishing cheers 🎣

Hey cal top video I'm new to the game really like your Chanel, been trying to fish for bass on lures. I'm near the menai straits in wales I've got the Pachinko ghost and I got a savage seeker ( that thing is a missile ) I go out with the tide flooding in there's Shoals of bait fish everywhere shinning silver.............. and still no bass. I dream of the day of pulling one in. Just out of interest how much time do you put in on a session on the lures?. Thanks for the content bro
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Thanks for watching the vids 👍🏼 I don’t tend to fish long sessions when lure fishing. I’ll hit certain spots at certain states of the tide. A typical session will be anywhere from 45mins to 1.5hrs max. I can’t say I’m familiar with the area you’re fishing but if it’s not working on the flood of the tide then maybe try fishing the ebb. Or you could fish an hour either side of the low and see how that goes. If there’s baitfish there, then I’m sure they’ll be bass lurking somewhere during the tide. Scope your mark out on Google maps and try to figure out where bass would be waiting to ambush whatever baitfish are present. Do your best to match the lure to whatever you see in the shoals too. I hope you bag one soon! I’m sure you’ll soon be able to get into a few. 👍🏼

Hey bro thanks for the reply, That's good to know I was thinking people put massive shifts in. There's defo bass lurking I'm sure of it I just need to get lucky. Good work on your food skills as well bro.

Hey Buddy good job can I ask you for some advice please I am looking to start do a Lure fishing can tell me what rod are you using or do you using a fishing line or braid ,what size I have no Idea from where to start?
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm using a shimano aernos 7-35g rod which is 9ft long. I use 26lb daiwa j braid with a diameter of 0.18mm. You can use mono, but braid is far better and will give you 10 times more feel through the whole rod right down to the lure.

I’m using a Shimano Vanford 4000XG at the moment. A very nice reel. I’ve not used the Ninja but heard good things.
@skateboardingjesus40062 жыл бұрын
It's frustrating when they follow but don't hit the lures. You should definitely fish an eel design just above the bottom next time. Always works for me when sand eels are about.
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 жыл бұрын
Yeah true. I’ve been back a few times and changed lures which has worked well. 🎣
@hookedonbasscornwall2 жыл бұрын
They have a special opaque membrane which drops down over their eyes to prevent debris getting in during dives. This membrane has led to a popular, but completely false myth that gannets go blind from diving too often
@FISHINGWITHCAL2 жыл бұрын
Oh, well there you go then 😂 I was just going on what I’d been told. I wasn’t implying it to be gospel truth haha. It was an older fisherman who told me that.

It was the same here for a few weeks. It’s only just been recently that a lot of small bass have come in. The bait fish are there, but only in certain spots I’ve found. Hopefully it picks up where you are soon. 👍🏼
