Peter and Olivia here are at the opposite spectrum of emotion, Peter looks at Etta and smile because he imagined that moment for so long and finally he had it, he doesn't think about the reality, he is living the moment. Olivia was almost sad because she is not only the protector of Etta but of the entire human kind and even if she is so happy to see her kid healty and to be reunited with her she almost immediatly realise that she is still in danger, and that even if they are togheter she can't protect her. Olivia and Peter are one of the best couple of all time, I love how they are indipendent and at the same time connected and almost compensative of each other.

I lost my mom at age 8, (and my dad 20 yrs later.) There will always be that pain of not having my Mom around in my life; so, when I see this scene (and scenes like it) the thought of seeing/holding my mom again, tugs powerfully at my heartstrings. I always manage to get a huge lump in my throat with these two scenes.

When I first saw Olivia's scene I was kind of underwhelmed. Now after watching the scene a few times more I have changed my mind. From Olivia's perspective she just felt the shock from deciding to amber herself+the suroundings, and one finger-snap later she can't breathe well, she is in a totaly different place with Peter in front of her(who wasn't there before) trying to calm her down(and telling her that it's 20 years later!) And then a few seconds later you see your daughter who "just was" a little over 3yo in front of you being over 20yo. If you ask me, Olivia's reaction fits pretty well for the situation. Peter had more time to adjust to the fact that "hey, it's 2036 now." And over all Peter and Olivia are two different persons so reacting in different ways isn't that weird.

Only Science Fiction can give possibilities like this: a parent meeting their children while they are still young themselves. The only area close is religion. Which is why Science Fiction was and is such a powerful part of our culture; it is the secular answer to the mysteries of reality.

Well the truth is, Anna Torv is not that good of an actor. She is not bad either. But she is definitely not as good as Peters Actor.
@cbebrad Жыл бұрын
@@spudbencer7179 Not so. It's made clear in a number of scenes that Olivia is kind of closed off emotionally. Peter tells her that AltOlivia is quicker to smile. Olivia says it herself that she is slow to trust, ect. It 's actually harder to act this character if your not like that in real life. She's playing two different people who are alike in some ways but not alike in other ways. I think she does a great job portraying them.

Did you realize... In this episode we see the older version of the bookstore owner Markham who has a crush on Olivia. He has purchased her silent lifeless body in amber from the Amber Gypsies. The actor who plays Markham is the same actor from Kill Bill who says to Budd: "White women! They call this the silent treatment.. and we pretend we don't like it!" In both cases we have a silent gorgeous blond 'buried alive.' In both cases she escapes. Both are reunited with their lost daughters. In fact, they say the same thing to each other when they meet for the first time: "You're beautiful" and "So are you."
