Ethel is the best at painting the American southern gothic picture. This feels so close to the American poverty experience especially in gods country. “Our kids will grow up with half as much, trying to build something out out dust, finding out too late what they need.” Inbred as well had very strong themes of that. Her retelling of very real experiences makes even the most disturbing of them have beauty.

her music is so graphic, i think that's why i love it so much, it's like if you're watching a movie but you're not, i can't explain it😭 i literally love her mind so much

The way she just belts out the last two lines of “You were wrooooong!” During inbred is just gut wrenching and give me CHILLS every time!

I'm an old man who watches your terrific content in order to stay young. Love your Joni content too. My generation's Taylor Swift. Ethel hits me as more fierce than Lana. Ethel hits a pocket in her vocals that is quite unique.
@Luscent Жыл бұрын
Yeah I see that! Lana's definitely a more relaxing listen in that way I think 😊 Thanks for watching and glad you're enjoying!!

@@Luscent There's always androgyny in great art, and Ethel's vocals are naturally built in. So, to me, she has an advantage.
@hellopeople6138 Жыл бұрын
@@DKaschak1 absolutely. In an interview she actually said she was disapointed that her voice didn't drop more during puberty because she loves when woman use lower tones while singing. In my opinion, she's the best song writer of my generation.

My phone service was shut off for 24 hrs til I was able to pay the bill and the only thing I had to listen to was this album. And I listened to it gladly, and would again. Obviously lol. Something about Ethel Cain makes it impossible for me to get burnt out on her songs.

Have you listened to Gracie Abrams yet? If not, please explore her catalog. She is majorly I fkuenced by Taylor Swift, was one of her openers for Eras, and is a truly magnificent singer and songwriter. Start with her first EP "minor" and you won't be disappointed! ❤️🙏❤️
