It was a great night to be a Luton Town fan, remember it clearly rewatching it, the hatters had a great side in those days.

i was 10 years old I'm 42 now and i swear it just feels like last night when my older brother (spurs fan) was slagging me all night after the highlights.... great 80's football

I was there. What a great night that was. I was also there when Luton beat Liverpool 4-1. Funny thing is I am a Liverpool fan but I had a season ticket for Luton Town. It was a treat watching my two teams.

Luton were a super side then hopefully theyll be back in the top flight soon I think the last time they did was the very last 1st division season just before premier league started...

Rrrr...i know...the poor mites would be so tired....i remember marathon cup ties from this era, i remember everton playing sheff wed about 4 times after draws then boro three times, that was 7 games in two rounds....it was great..exciting...modern footy is crap....this luton team was really good, ricky hill had real skill

Wow i remember this - it was cold. I was 12 and didn't know the result until i was in school the next day. Those were the days when we just didn't have instant online access - you had to wait to know. Luton were awesome on that pitch. So glad it got ripped up, they were just awful surfaces. A lot better artificial surfaces now though. And the football i think was inferior to what you see today - so many high balls to nowhere.

That was a good Luton side playing neat one touch football. I remember Kenny Dalglish's post match interview....wow did he whinge about the plastic pitch!

Ha ha I hated Luton at the time, I was 12 years old. They beat us 4-1 that season as well. Good times though, when football was for the normal bloke in the street.

I saw many of the Liverpool greats over the years at Luton. Alan Hanson, Souness, Rush What a privilege to see such players

Luton were a good side in those days but they really knew how to play on the plastic.

Paul Ndor yeah, that terrible plastic pitch we had to play on at Wembley when we won the Littlewoods Cup.🙄😉

That Liverpool team always struggled with plastic pitches, I remember Luton also beating them in the league around this era 4-0 or 4-1

Sorry bud but that's bollocks. Luton were well renowned for playing nice passing football in the 80's. Don't get suckered into that crap about football being better now than it was then. There are long ball teams in the top flight now. West ham for one. Chelsea used to play it under Mourinho. There were also good and bad games then as there is now

No plastic pitch. What happened to Luton QPR. Oldham. All got to Wembley finals promoted to top flight. Where are they now back on grass. Was a clear advantage

Hated Luton - plastic pitch, yard dogs like Harford and banning away supporters. Can you imagine any club getting away with that now? Is that balloon of a chairman still alive that they had?
@thelstanedwardsson437428 күн бұрын
Mark Lawrenson was a donkey in my opinion - without Alan Hansen he was a headless chicken - should have given away a penalty in the 0-2 loss to Everton in 85-86 season with a foul on Alan Harper - but they lost anyway.
