Thanks for explaining. I didn't know that when there is a solid line in say a top it must be drawn as one but separate afterwards and seam allowances added to them and then sewn together afterwards. In the past I avoided those ones they looked too complicated.

Thank you, thank you , thank you!!! I just purchased this system and can not wait to get it. I will be watching your videos on the regular. I am a garment sewer from way back (50+ years) but got out of doing it over the past 10 years. I am retired now and have the time so I opted for this system instead of buying patterns from the store. In the long run I figured this would be cheaper and I would have more freedom to create garments from multiple pattern choices. I have an advantage because I have knowledge about garment making but the lingo here is going to be a little learning curve. Thanks for such a clear explanation of all the markings. Even though I am retired now I still love my clothing!!

Thank you for this! I do have a question on the pants. The pattern has interfacing and then a fold line and I am supposing a channel for elastic as the pants don’t have a waistband with zipper etc. My question is: do you add a seam allowance to this area or not?

Thank you so much for the demo. I’m in the process of making a blouse using this system and it has a similar piece as the jacket # 245 you demonstrated. Your jacket front “A” shows interfacing going from the collar down to the bottom of the jacket, but it does not say or show how wide your interfacing should be. It’s the same with blouse I’m making. The interfacing is narrower at the very top and bottom than it is in the middle. How would I know how wide to cut the interface? Thank you

This is really helpful. Thank you. Quick question at 9:13 in your video there is a sleeve off to the right. I can see the gather at the top, but am confused at the book like icon. I don't have that symbol in my book and was wondering if you knew what that meant. Also in the Dress at the 8:18 minute mark, The pattern on the left is actually supposed to be cut in THREE pieces or TWO? The main body (A), the trim around the front and the front yoke (AL) piece? Your explanation was really so helpful. Thank you.
@jenstylishsoul
@jenstylishsoul 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeanie at 9:19 that is the sleeve for top 226 from the 319 supplement. The ‘book’ like symbol is a box pleat. There are two in total on the sleeve with gathers between them. Dress at 8:18 yes that is meant to be cut into three pattern pieces as you describe. Thanks for watching!

@jenstylishsoul
@jenstylishsoul 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny The floating numbers have a line underneath them. Line up the right hand side of your golden rule with the line under each number and measure out to the number displayed. The amount of dots you draft should correspond with the dots you can see on the miniature pattern. Welcome to the Lutterloh family 😃

The patterns you can sew in knit fabrics have a knit symbol on them. When I want a close fit garment I like to reduce the width of the pattern slightly on very stretchy fabrics

Hi MyStylishSoul, would you be able to demonstrate how to use the curve ruler that comes with the system; I tried using it for a neckline pattern (Top#193, not sure if that helps). My neck shape looks wonky. The 3 points on the curve rule doesn’t seem to work for me. I can’t find any tutorials that are as thorough as your. I love your videos. Thank you.
@jenstylishsoul
@jenstylishsoul 3 жыл бұрын
Sobreira-Martyn Design Hi great video idea! I’ll do some research and do that 😀. In general I move the ruler in whichever position that allows me to get 3 points on the pattern touch the curve of the ruler. So if the deepest part of the curve is too much I try further down the ruler where it is less curved or switch rulers. If I can’t get 3 points to join up using the curve just join up 2 points and if that doesn’t look right, I would hand sketch the curve until Im happy with it (Sometimes thats the only way!) hope that helps

Geraldine Gillen hi Geraldine I’m unsure how you mean? Make sure you mark you dots on the right hand side of the tape measure only. Also you might find after drafting some patterns can look like they have rotated slightly, is that what you mean. If that happens, it’s nothing to worry about. Cut out as normal and it will be fine. Hope that helps

Thanks for watching. To shorten the front and back bodice, draft the bodice pattern pieces as normal then on each full sized pattern piece draw a horizontal line over the cross (where the pin went when drafting). Cut open your paper on the horizontal line then you can either overlap your paper to shorten the bodice or separate the paper to lengthen the bodice. Hope that helps 🙂
