My family own lands of olives, this time of the year we pick them and make olive oil and olives, For your question- no you can’t eat raw olive, I mean you can but it’s bitter and you’ll have stomach ace after. For olive oil you grained raw olives. For eating first you soak them in water for few days (replace water few Times) then Pickel them in a jar like you will Pickel cucumber (with spices/herbs of your choice), then wait minimum one month (up to a year). I could easily live in one of those tiny homes! The only thing I would add to it is a primitive outdoor summer kitchen with a brick oven and fire pit to cook tomatoes in a cauldron hanging over the open fire. I would cook indoors in the winter to help heat the place. Lovely! ❤😊

Yes, I have always wanted to stay and also live, if I could, in a tiny home. I say always, but here in the US they are just getting off the ground and our area does not permit them yet, so I will be dead by the time they do. I loved that little place and found it quite lovely and interesting as I do all tiny homes. I WANT ONE SO MUCH.

I googled about the olives and this is what I found: While olives are edible straight from the tree, they are intensely bitter. Olives contain oleuropein and phenolic compounds, which must be removed or, at least, reduced to make the olive palatable.

Of course you can eat olives from the tree , it wont harm you, but they will be harder and more bitter. The olives sold in shop have been in brime for a while to soften their texture and taste. However you can cook amazing dishes with fresh olives from a tree Also Emma, from the few cooking shots, you seem to have integrated Italian food making pretty well! the chopping of basil, of tomatoes, the drizzling of olive oil, the spreading of garlic on toasted bread... mamma mia !

Hey Emma and Alex...I discovered your wonderful videos last October 2020, you were visiting my home land of Italy and Puglia where my family is from. We have since watched a lot of your video's from the good old days learning more about you and your adventures. First, we want to say that we admire your honesty and humour. Openly dealing with your depression is very important. As I am sure you recently heard of the passing of Canadian Van Life Lee, who sadly took her life at the age of 27. Very sad. As someone that has suffered from depression repeatedly in my life, I can say that hearing other people be open about dealing with this illness, helps you feel like you are not alone and that there is hope! Please anyone out there, reach out for help, you are not alone. Should you ever make it back to Germany, we would love to host you in our beautiful Town of Landshut, near Munich, there is so much to see and do....and best of all sausages and Schweins Haxe'n! BEANS OUT!!!!

As a Southern Italian I have to admit it's a very well done video. At the beginning I thought this was the usual patronizing, childish travel video, but watching it I appreciated the aesthetics and the explanations (also the historical part was accurate). But next time don't buy "vino sfuso" :) It might seem a local experience but they tend to sell you the worst stuff. Only in Florence this is a good experience. I loved the dinner spread tho :)

I had 10 years living on the Swiss/Italian border. It has to be said that the weather suits the food. But eating Italian style all the time in the UK would be horrible, we don't have the climate. For this we have stews and pies. Tiny homes are not a problem if the space you have outside is big enough.
@lazios4 жыл бұрын
Russell Chapman Esq. I'm sorry to "disappoint" you but stews and pies are in any regional italian cuisine (from north to south) and to be honest you should know well since you lived 10 years "on the Alps", what you eated in winter... Caprese salad? 😏
@RussellChapman994 жыл бұрын
@@lazios Not the same thing. A steak and ale pie with the pastry crust, or steak and kidney pie, or a game pie is not something you will find in Italy. Oh and the gravy, again not something you will find. A lot of Italian food is very good, but there are some things you simply don't have. I lived in Lugano, beautiful area.
