Another great build there Brent. Can’t wait to see this baby run and punch out some nice hp figures .I just love those small blocks, they’re awesome! Well done

Im surprised that you didnt check the mating surfaces for paralell. And that you didnt mention using dowel bolts to be sure the intake comes straight down in place. You are good and dont need to, but we do. 👍 Also I would have boroscoped the match after tightening. 👍😎

Hey, I mean it wouldn’t be KZbin without someone feeling like they need to tell me how to do it, right? The mating surfaces were surfaced last week because it needed to be cut .060”. Also, you can’t always use studs because sometimes the intake needs to be shifted one way or the other. Not sure what is difficult about just dropping the intake down and then checking it. How do you know I didn’t check it after the camera turned off?

What company ported the heads and intake? Do you have a link or info? Thanks.

Great content Brent. I have noticed on my Cleveland that oil will make it's way up through the intake gasket. Could the manifold mating surface be the wrong angle? Tim Australia 🇦🇺

According to Edelbrock, the optimum RPM range is 1,500-6,500. Will porting and putting a spacer on top increase that range above 6,500? Perhaps 7,000 or 7,500? What is your expert opinion?
@lykinsmotorsports3 күн бұрын
I don't look at rpm ranges for anything. Not for intakes, not for cams, etc. It all depends on the individual combination of parts. Runner length is associated with rpm. Runner length will also depend on the length of the head port. Just too many variables. On my 302 mule, I have no reservations about going to 7500-8000 with one.

When you have an engine that has a cylinder head that flows 300 cfm at .600" valve lift, you need an intake manifold that flows at least 330 cfm for the street. That RPM AG as cast from Edelbrock flowed 263.77 cfm average with one port only flowing 254.03 cfm. That would essentially strangle a 363CI SBF with 307.5 cfm heads. I always try to give a street engine at least 10% more airflow than the head at valve lift so that it does not hold the engine back in the upper rpm range. This RPM AG flows 330.68 cfm average for an increase of 66.91 cfm average flow. The intake will not hold the engine back. The RPM AG is not the intake of choice if the owner would race this engine, he should/would need to step up to a Victor Jr that can be ported to 400 cfm if needed. For race engines I always shoot for 120-125% of head flow at valve lift. Joe-JDC

Why don't you put 2 studs in each head to align the manafold when you install it ?
@lykinsmotorsports3 күн бұрын
Because some times the intake needs to be shifted one way or another to make the ports line up.

It's a plastic wedding band. So if I get it caught on something, it will break before it degloves my finger. On the pinky of my other hand is a stainless steel ring, which is a ring that mechanical engineers wear who have taken an oath of ethics.
