I love almost everything about this, but I wish a bit more attention would have been paid to maintaining the original look of the game.

I understand the sentiment, and as it's been about ten years since this project (formally) concluded I can totally see the criticisms levelled at the project. Bear in mind that this was made back in 2011 by a group of us (then) teens just trying to make the game into our vision of what it could be, rather than maintaining the look of the original. If you're looking for something that does just that, I highly recommend the AI upscaled projects floating around the internet right now. Thank you for taking the time to comment, cheers!

@@MaddiAddiGaming I am on the other end of things, I just want something beautiful that plays exactly like Starfox 64, so you pretty much nailed it. The 3ds remake doesn't quite do it for me, and I think there are other more serious Starfox 64 fans who are in the same boat. You accomplished exactly what I wish they would have!

My buddy and I are trying to get this to work, but for whatever reason, it only loads some of the textures on pj64 2.3. I'm using the glide plug-in and can't seem to get the Rice plug-in to show up... I put the extra .dll in the right spot and still nothing. What could I be missing?

For those of you having the same issue. Use the video plugin "GLideN64 Public Release 3.0" not to be mistaken for "Glide64 for PJ64: 2.1.2.202" and follow these instructions: amp.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/91epiu/tutorial_using_hd_texture_packs_in_mupen64plus/ You'll only need to follow the first half if using PJ64 2.3. For Mupen users, follow the entire guide. Hmu if you have any questions. Please, don't hesitate to ask.

@@larrygreen1234520ify Sorry for all the confusion there. The project was originally developed on Project64 1.6 with the rice plugin. So I consistently forget about the issues with 2.3 and how confusing Glide64 vs GlideN64 is. But yes this is indeed the solution required to get it running on 2.2 and 2.3. Apologies for the late response, I very rarely use this account for anything other than publishing videos.

@@MaddiAddiGaming He keeps getting this error: cn64system::emulationstarting: exception caught line 485 Could it possibly be a memory allocation issue? I told him to patch PJ64 with 4GB_Patch, and he got this message: 🛑 Couldn't open executable! About to work on it a bit more today. I wonder if his laptop can even handle the textures at all... BTW it is truly a work of art. Thank you for putting so much effort into making this. 😇

hey mate, quick question, I'm using project64 3.0 with GlideN64 plugin, and the 2d text has something above it with like, Z's instead of A's and etc, know any way to fix this?

If you're using the lylat wars compatible version, you might need to disable rice compatibility in the settings. I can't quite remember the name of it, but there's a certain setting that loads the textures incorrectly that needs to be disabled. It's been quite some time since I've had these textures working on my own machine as I've moved on to fixing up the 3DS release.

There is no physical way to get this working on real hardware, this is emulator only.

The circular reticule was a desire of my 16 year old self. When we were building this project there was no focus on retaining the visuals of the original, rather wanting to bring our own visions to life which lead to a fairly mis-mashed visual style. I freely admit that this is not for everyone, and if you like everything else except the circular reticule, you can simply remove it from the package files to restore the original. Cheers!

No, this is running on an emulator. the N64 would never have enough ram to load these textures. Just one or two would exceed the memory limits of the console.
