There's Michael Cartellone on drums. He was the drummer for the Damn Yankees when they cut their two albums back in the early 1990s. Yep. A Damn Yankee playing with Lynard Skynard. Just shows you how great music lasts and appeals to everyone.

Gary Rossingtons slide is so pretty in this song, but the original solo by Alan Collins was unbeliveable. He beat the tune out of the guitar and played like a mad man for another five minutes. He was AWESOME.

I lived with the Son of the drummer Leon some years ago, his son Gabriel was in the Guard at the time, I have to admit he was alot like his dad, a Southern Rebel and free for sure !

Im going to see LYNYRD SKYNYRD at the clyde audorium on the 1st june. I have also seen The Floyd.....but i cant wait to actually see this masterpiece of music. Of course i have heard all of those classics.. Call me naieve, but i just didnt realise who Lynyrd Skynyrd are.

You could be correct. My research shows that Collins wrote the music and Van Zant came up with the lyrics in a session with Collins and Gary Rossington.
