My Father died of Terminal brain cancer on September 1st 2012 in the Parry Sound General Hospital in Ontario, Canada. He was 50 years young and used to play this song on the guitar... He was getting really good at it until he started losing his memory. To make a long story short, he ended up smashing 4 of his guitars in one night and two days later he was in the hospital taking his last breaths. One of his last sentences to me was to be a simple kind of man, to be someone you can love and understand. I'm finally starting to be that man! Sober with no drugs or alcohol, just moving on with life keeping it simple and clean! I FUCKIN MISS YOU TEDDY!!! Love your Son Jordy!!!

Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above. (Chorus) And be a simple kind of man. Be something you love and understand. Baby, be a simple kind of man. Won't you do this for me son, If you can? Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul, And you can do this if you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied. I was introduced to this song as a very young child, perhaps five or six years of age. My mother and her husband both loved Skynyrd, and as I was exposed to it at a formative age I grew to love them as well. Long story short, her husband was a pedophile and she was a "don't care" mother, the two of them together creating problems for me that haunt me still 20+ years later. Despite all of that, I cannot regret this music which has had such an impact on my life. Though my eyes often blur from tears when I hear it, I still appreciate the message and social value of this and the many other potent creations of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I am so very sorry for that situation it sickens me I too was in a situation with my mother's brother my Uncle as a young child it's so strange I hate what he did but I love him it's such a messed up situation. I find lots of comfort at Isaiah 65:17 the former things will not be called to mind nor will they come up into the heart. Jehovah God promises to wipe away such awful thoughts and feelings. And he also promises to turn the earth into a paradise as well he tells us at Psalms 3:29 the righteous will possess the Earth and they will live forever on it. For more information go to jw.org

My husband and I were at a party in East TX when LS plane went down. That radio station played LS the rest of that night. It wasn't a fun party afterward. This is my song to my own son and he has it on his list. Love all of LS but Simple Man means so much to so many.💙

I know that people hate hearing about these songs being in shows like Supernatural... all I have to say is well that at least people are hearing this song. Just because they play it in a show doesn't mean shit to you. I'm just glad a wider audience can enjoy the music. just a thought.

How true that is Romans 4:17 God makes the Dead Alive acts 24:15 there is going to be a resurrection.
