Is there a difference between older mk s150 mk ii and more recent ones? I was looking at the woofers, the older reviews say polypropylene and the website right now says fiberglass. Also says the tweeters are horn loaded for better dispersion. The logo also changed im the front. Am I crazy? Wouldn't that make it mkiii?

1:40 I have the Klipsch thx ultra 2's and I have the same problem because the LCR's are the same exact speakers, I wound up putting the center behind my TV and rasing the TV up on the wall, but the tv still blocks 1/2 the speaker, it's very annoying, I understand your struggle with your center speaker.

Totally understand where you are coming from in regards to TV and speakers. I have QLN speakers and the sound thru them from the TV is just as you describe. If I play a FLAC music file then the sound thru the speakers is on another level.

I think M&K speaks like this is that they were meant for a "projector + screen (110"+)" setups. So that the centre is placed BEHIND the screen. Placing them "in-wall" hidden.

Thanks for the review I have an older setup of the M&K speakers before they were bought out. I have the S150 LCR and the SS150 rears and one MX350 sub. Recently added two ceiling M&K ICW90’s in the ceiling powered by Marantz AV 7705 and Marantz MM 8003. I love the speakers and the Marantz audio video equipment and the Panasonic DP-UB9000, I also have an Oppo BDP 103 missed out on the 203 and didn’t want to pay for the inflated prices on the 203. Very happy with the Panasonic purchase.

As googoo gjoob commented your center channel speaker issue was a result of the height of your equipment stand (losing direct ir transmission) and blocking the bottom of your screen. Get a taller equipment and tv screen stand!). Your complaint is the difference between a pro review (wherein the reviewer would correct that issue prior to the review) and an amateur next door neighbour review

Hi I have owned mp150mk2,150t and mk iw85(atmos) two x8 in my living room for years now, they are wall mountable and can project sound upwards or downwards maybe you could move all your A/V gear to another location within the room just leaving the TV so centre channel could be placed bellow. I like the m&k cause they can be wall mounted which means you have a much larger sound stage just like the movies.

I got a great deal on some s150’s second hand, but I’m worried they’re going to be too much for my small living room setup. Do these need to be played loud all the time, or can you watch a movie at quieter levels? They will eventually be powered by an emotiva amp.

You nailed it in the review. I've had them for five years. These are serious speakers. In a projector room it's perfect (esp with an AT screen) and rocks Blu-ray dts and other uncompressed mixes with precision. Streaming compressed Netflix or whatever sounds like dogcrap though. For movies it's blu-ray or bust.

I would like to add that when listening to TV be it cable or satellite TV it is compressed big time. This makes the upper end sound harsh. You need as many zeros and ones to make good sound. If when you play movies or DSD audio and your blown away you issue is from your source not the speakers. Garbage in Garbage out. In your room I would raise the tv stand height and put all three front channels at the same height. This will change things big time. Sub Sat system are a different bag of playback. Once you have figured your Sub in in phase with Sat’s your good. A Sub with variable phase is a must to get the best. The 0 or 180 deg is not enough in most system. M&K makes excellent speakers. They should not be blamed for being truthful. You did not cover in the discussion about The M&K Sub. Which I believe they do very good. Keep up the good work.

That’s awesome man!! I was raving from ‘99 - ‘03!! Desert and forest parties around LA. Some big parties later on. After all that stuff I started going to BPM magazine parties on Tuesday nights. Scott & Ken from The Crystal Method were always there hanging out. Very cool guys. That second track on my list from them has this really warm bass hit starting 30 seconds in, and it’s glorious! I am making a video going over the list of songs and what to look for. Glad I could take you back man! I recently re-bought a lot of CDs like Vegas, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, and one of those Euphoria compilations.

@@TechnoDad That's awesome! It was a different time in the early days, it was hard core for sure! A bunch of underground locations spread throughout the city. I was in Scottsdale AZ at the time, huge club scene and they started embracing the music around 99ish then it became mainstream. I hit it hard, don't party anymore, seems like a lifetime ago but I remember like it was yesterday. Just checked my time-capsule CD case and i found an old Van Dyk The Politics of Dancing! Love Okenfold too, but Tiesto is my favorite. He's still hitting it hard to this day. His youtube or soundcloud channel has full sets from Tomorrowland and other crazy events. Legit if you want a hard hitting 60-90 minute set. The scene is SO much bigger than it was back in the day. I'll explore the playlist and check out Euphoria too, I've been trying to discover more music so I appreciate it!

Dude!! So MUCH bigger!! So cool! I went to Love Parade in Berlin in ‘03. That was NUTS! 750K people partying in the streets of Berlin. Amazing! That Saturday night (Sunday morning technically) Tiesto’s set ended at 6 am and Paul van Dyk jumped on for three hours. It was Awesome! He was playing on three turntables! No CDJs at that time. I agree with your comments on sound while watching regular TV (game shows, for example. Although I don't watch game shows). For regular TV I listen through the OLED speakers that came under the TV.
