@@j-man9457 haha! No problem, when I saw this one pop up the first thing I thought of was you! Seemed like all of the right specs coming from your first Ammoon video where you talked about that guitar and what you would have to spend to get it how you want, vs buying something already the way you want, vs name brand resale, and to me this one nails it. Last week I was offered a $40 or $60 coupon for the Musi, I'm in Ontario so I don't know if different regions get other offers. I'm more of a traditional 50's spec guy, i already have my Tele fix filled with a mim roadworn 50's Tele with a baseball neck and just love it, but I don't play quite like you haha. Jay-Hey-Hey.... what's goin' down, Bro? Hey man.... super cool guitar. I love that thing! And I've been looking at these axes on The Zon. Some of the Teles, and the Strats as well. I really like the contouring, and the way they designed the head-stocks as well. It seems they've take a classic that has been done, done again, and over-done a thousand times... and done something cool and interesting with them. And seems like they make a quality guitar. Not as cheap as some of the others... but a better instrument, is what it seems like. I dig that guitar! Might have to check one of these out. It seems also, like you are picking up the pace on your guitar acquisitions. Your G.A.S. is getting out of hand... and I love it!!! I've got a bad itch lately. Been 5 or 6 months since I bought one. SPEAK OF THE DEVIL! This is one guitar I’ve been really, REALLY waiting for someone to review! Personally, I think this one is better looking and better sounding out-of-the-box than the EART, scratchy pot, grounding, and shielding issues aside. (But I think that all of these things should be relatively easy to fix!) I’ve been trying to decide myself between this one and the Latitude Lark, which seems to be VERY similar-i.e., roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, etc., but the Lark has slightly more classic/vintage Tele character and aesthetics-i.e., only 21 frets, a more classically Telecaster-shaped body without the contour cuts, wheel truss rod adjustment, and more classic looking T-style pickups. Tough choices! Your comparison with the EART seems apt-I’ve also wondered myself sometimes if EART, Musi, and Latitude aren’t all being designed and made in the same factory, because seriously, the specs and the headstock shape on ALL three of them look nearly identical, with only minor variations like the single vs 2-layer cut where the brand name goes, and matching headstock finish vs plain. You can always make the action a little higher if you prefer it that way, but the fact that it CAN be set that low without fret buzz really speaks volumes about how good the fretwork is. I say keep this guitar and sell 2 others! 😂
@j-man9457
@j-man9457 Жыл бұрын
100% agree. Looking under the hood today so stay tuned! I've thought the same way about these guitars being built in the same factory however, the fit an finish ont the Musi compared to the EART are definitely different. I would think if they were built in the same factory they would all be similar. I'll decide whether I keep it or not in a week or so. I think I got an open box guitar. Owners guide that came with the guitar says to remove the plastic over the pickups and pickguard before playing. Mine had no plastic whatsoever...

I ended up returning my Virgo. I kept it for a month but when it came down to it I didn’t like the belly and arm cuts. I also didn’t like that for $350 I still had to do work on it. Mine needed the nut slots to be deeper and it also needed string trees like yours did. Additionally, the tuners were binding and felt like the guitar had been dropped on them. I could do all that if it were used but not for new. Also bridge pickup was a bit thin. I ended up purchasing a Sire T7. I will let you know what I think of that. The DR strings by the way were comparable to the D’Addario heavy top / medium bottoms I suggested to you.

@j-man9457
@j-man9457 10 ай бұрын
Since this video, I did in fact add a string tree. But not because my strings popped out of the nut. It was because the E string sounded like a Sitar... even with staggered tuners you don't get enough break angle over the nut onthe high strings on a 6 on a side headstock...😀
@AndrewAHayes
@AndrewAHayes 10 ай бұрын
@@j-man9457 Yeah! I agree, the staggered tuners are just not enough, I recently bought a Harley Benton Fusion T 25th anniversary which has came with staggered tuners and also string trees, I took one of the string trees out and realised straight away that it definetly needed to be there! I think it is possible to get them to work without a string tree though, if they were recessed in a round aperture and had a string entry groove it should be possible to get enough break angle, this would probably need a thicker headstock also which in turn would also probably need a complete re-design of the headstock, its cheaper just to add the string tree though LOL

Interesting Dan, now I don't find mine neck heavy at all and with the way my arm rests on the forearm contour, I don't feel the neck dive at all. That being said I've been playing teles for years and just based on ergonomics, the fact the the upper horn where the strap connects is even with the 16th fret, there is going to be neck tilt for sure unless you're playing a headless or your body alone is 8lbs or more. I find out of all my teles he Musi is the better balanced of them all.

Hey bluwng! I don't know about Lattitude, but unless EART has made changes to their fit and finish, fret work, hardware and electronics, out of the box the EART doesn't come close to competing with the Musi. Man you're a monster country player! I'm very interested in this exact guitar (same color). One thing i'd like to know though... I own an Eart GW2 headless guitar also from Amazon, with very similar strainless steel frets. The fretjob on mine is truly amazing and flawless (perfectly leveled and polished) and the action is CRAZY LOW without a single buzz anywhere... That's insane... BUT... the only thing that bothers me a bit is not the action height, but the ''frets height''. I know they are Medium Jumbo and not Jumbo sized... but it seems like they ended up removing too much material when leveling (I feel a bit too much of the fretboard under my fingers). I got used to it and now it doesn't bothers me as much, but when I put it down and pick up my Ibanez MM1 with Jumbo stainless steel frets, it almost feels like if the frets were scalopped lol. I was wondering if it was the same with this Musi Virgo Classic? As for the Eart ''fake'' roasted maple neck... I was wondering too after looking at the pictures on Amazon. I can't confirm about their Tele model, but I can confirm that the GW2 headless model is in fact TRUE roasted maple. I know that for sure, because I completely sanded off the varnish and refinished it with pure Tung oil... and now, it smells like TRUE roasted maple (exactly the same amazing smell as my very expensive Ibanez MM1 had when I first got it). In fact, if you can smell the roasted maple on the Musi, it means it's probably an oil finish and not a varnish, which is AWESOME (thanks for confirm it haha). Thanks!

Hey Thanks David! You're way too kind... I have lots that I need to learn still😊 I would say the fret size and feel of the Musi would be very similar to your EART. I have an EART tele and an EART Headless, however I took the neck and bridge from my EART headless and built a headless telecaster haha Here it is just completed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpW4Xqehi69jrs0 The frets are not jumbo on the Musi for sure. You do feel the fret board under the strings if you dig in. All my guitats are like that so it doesn't bother me at all. So it's your call really but based on your description, the musi frets will not feel like the ones on your Ibanez... Hope that helps! J

@@j-man9457 Thanks for the quick and complete reply man! Yes, I saw your "Frankenstein" headless Tele, and it’s VERY cool haha nice job! BTW, I really have to mention that refinishing the headless neck with Pure Tung Oil (wet-sanding with 2000 grit in between coats) definitely transformed both the feel AND the sound of the guitar. I had previously swapped the pickups and electronics for Bare Knuckle Juggernauts and an Ibanez Dyna-Mix 10 switching system, but still.. after refinishing the neck, not only it truly feels like MusicMan level (i’m not kidding), but it truly sounds more open and balanced. The mids are less "boxy" and smoother (clearly varnishes are indeed affecting the sound).. it’s hard to describe, but it’s really now comparable with my Ibanez MM1 that cost me around 4000$ CAD with taxes. These new chinese CNC guitar builds may still lack of hand finishing and quality control sometimes, but the wood selection/neck pocket fit/stainless steel frets and decent hardware make them the perfect crafty-man new project. You can truly end up with an over 2000$ worth guitar without that much work (something that was simply not possible with budget guitars before).

@@davidmultimedia2024 100% agree David. These new guitar companies are really putting out quality stuff but like you said, they will more than likely require some attention in certain areas for sure. I'll have a closer look at my headless again, but I'm pretty sure my neck is not roasted maple. It's a 5 piece maple and padauk back with rosewood fretboard. It doesn't feel like there's much on there varnish wise, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.😀 Just looking at your last name... Es-tu français?

@davidmultimedia2024 Жыл бұрын
@@j-man9457 Yes, French is my first language (i’m from Québec, near Montreal). Sorry for my sloppy english BTW! 😅 Trust me, I can assure you it’s genuine roasted maple + padauk. You can’t smell it because of the poly finish (it’s satin, but it’s still plastic based). When I sanded it down, the finish made a white powder and it smelled like varnish until i reaches the wood.. and that amazing roasted maple smell came out! I was so glad to confirm myself it was not stained maple! Also, the bone nut on mine was awfully finished (not finished at all in fact, it was completely rough, full of saw teeth marks.. but slots were fine, so i just used a piece of 2000 grit sandpaper and I polished it by hand to a point where it now looks like human teeth (and it took 5 minutes). I also polished the fretboard edges with 2000 grit sandpaper as the final touch. This isn’t the same guitar!
